Great video. I've noticed in similar videos that others use a Step-down module for their builds but I still don't understand the difference. Hahah. Thanks for sharing.
The problem is always finding a cheap enough source. Perhaps other people know what they are but I haven't been able to find any locally and buying online seems too risky to me.
Aside from that this is an excellent and short guide. Thank you.
Just buy a replacement screen, they're pretty cheap for what you're getting.
thinking of doing the same. i got really great laptop, motherboard is dead tho, but LCD is fine and working. Built my self Mitx PC but i want to have portable screen, they are really expensive and most of them suck.
Best video I came across

Will I need the DC-DC step up module if my power bank supports 12V 1.5A? Also can you power using the laptop usb port?
Hi... My screen it just turn on then turn off... Kind like power not support... What is the best input power I should use..
How many Amp of input power from USB ? I am studying to do it.
What does it mean in the description of the item " Replace LM2577"
Is the USB power supply module compatible with DIY B156XW02 v.6?
excellent video! what is the name of the song at the end?
Will a step up USB to dc cable work?
Excellent video but will it calibrate using spyder calibration. Can backlight brightness be adjusted
yes Back Light can be adjusted
Very nice work, 2 thumbs up!! But, how did you manage to perfectly fit all the plug in, in the acrylic box? Thank you
Hi Nicolas, I had already taken the measurements for cutout on CorelDRAW & got the laser cut for acrylic board from the store near to me, The display was assembled by me before making the video. Later i thought of making a video for my subscribers on how to.. so i had to again disassemble and reassemble it. :)
@@TheCyberWolves Ha, ha! Then thank you for redoing it. As I said very good and also very instructive. Easier to reproduce this way.
sweet job with the simple usb and DC step-up man!
ive see many videos on YT but nothing this simple.
I would like to do the same but i dont understand where you soldiered the usb cable to the underside of board.
how does that work? can it be done on any board?
thanks dude
Hey welcome N thank you :) . & regarding - (i dont understand where you soldiered the USB cable to the underside of board) - Explained @ 2:15 (5v/2a USB input is where it has been soldered its only power source does not collect any data) the HDMI cable is been separately connected for video input) pls keep subscribed to my channel for more such videos.
What type of battery bank are you using to power your board/screen? How much v/a output does it have. I have tried an ipad charger and its not enough.
Daniel St-Jean Hi, im using Mi Power Bank 10000Mah which has 5V2A Out Put, you can also use Samsung fast charger or any other charger which has the output of 5V2A .
CyberWolves thanks mg charger is the same, 5v2a. i must just have an lcd with higher power draw
good for portable game.... btw can u make u pc portable too??
Hi. I was trying to make something like this but not portable. Just as a second monitor. Why doesn't your screen have the power wires for the LCD backlight?
Hi, it depends on the LCD display module mine did not require a extra power wires for LCD Back Light.
Thank you
@@RedPixels_ Because his screen has an LED backlight and not LCD backlight. Controller boards that support LCD backlit screens come with LCD inverter boards.
How did u provide power to the control board so easily?
Hi, I Had already done the voltage adjustments previously in the DC-DC Step-Up Module XL6009
very interesting.
Hypothetically speaking, what would you do if you wanted to have both the original 12v option and the 5v option you've presented here? (to put it another way, what if I want to be able to use my car's cigarette port to run the monitor when I'm in the car, but I want the 5v option when I'm not in my car?) Would a switch be recommended?
Honestly i woud not recommended using both, as i have not tried my self. its better to use the original 12v adapter.
@@TheCyberWolves That's okay. I was just curious. =) Honestly, the use I was thinking of putting this to, 12v would probably be better in general. Although, it occurs I could make a removable adapter for use with 5v, and simply detach it when I don't need it.

nice work thank you. how did you connect the keyboard and mouse which im assuming is Bluetooth?
tre buie Thank you, Yes the keyboard was connected by Bluetooth & the mouse by dongle.
Thank you for responding. one more question. Do you have this jotted down where I can follow it?
@@treb7333 No buddy, its only on CZcams as of now, You can ask me questions if you have any i shall try to reply my best.

Hi , can we use Rasbery pi 3 directly instead of LCD Controller Board

it meas I need to remove LCD Controller Board and install pi 3 directly
Yes it is possible but you need different display for it.

You can plug usb power on usb input in pc right ?
Instead of using powerbank
Yes you can, but its always better to play safe i would always recommend you to use Powerbank or USB Adapter. Reason is its DC to DC converter gets heated very easily so there may be 10% chance's of damaging ur mother board usb. :)
@@TheCyberWolves btw what app you use for rendering ?
So we can use any board or the one that goes with that monitor and are there 6” monitors
Not Any Board you need to find the particular model for the display (as Explained in Video)
Is there a DC to USB cable that does the job? I don't know how to solder cables
Nope its not available (but its simple you can take help of local electrician or electronic shop guy's help to solder)
@@TheCyberWolves Thanks for replying
@@TheCyberWolves Hi! Thanks for making this video. I would like to try this and was also wondering why a USB to DC cable won't do the job. I see it being sold on amazon (www.amazon.ca/aceyoon-Connector-Compatible-Splitter-Speaker/dp/B07GF27NNY/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3NP6FYIXWZ0YB&keywords=usb+to+dc+cable&qid=1587955771&sprefix=usb+to+dc%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-5) . Can you explain why it won't work? Is it a power level input/output issue? I would like to use something like this to plug into a power bank to power the screen as an option. Thank you!
Is the dc stepup for usb power?
Yep
Is there any way to do it where all I need to do is connect 1 usb cable to my computer (like to power it like u did here but also to replace the hdmi cable) or would i be possible to get an hdmi cable plug one side into the monitor and the other side into a hdmi to usb adaptor and then some how combined the usb power cable and the usb data cable
Nope...
CyberWolves ok so I plan on making two of these monitors and connect them to 1 laptop that at the moment only have 1 hdmi port and 1 open USB port I was thinking about making the monitors powered like u did in the video and then plug them into a usb hub and plug the hub into the open port and for the hdmi I was going to connect one side to the monitors and the second side to a hdmi to usb adaptor and the plug the adaptors into the usb hub that has the power cables what do i think

Can I do this with a touchscreen not using the keyboard and mouse?
Yes its possible
What type of boost converter is it I mean by voltage
Hi, its DC-DC Step-Up Module XL6009 its Given in the Description
i want to plugin a raspbery pi 3 on this with mini keyboard and plug the raspberry on another power bank xd
and the plan is to find a 17.3-21 inch screen that i can both use on my raspberry
and a 7 liter portable tower that i wil carry around on my backpack xd
i can custom make a carrier bag for the tower as well u know stuff like letting the exhaust breathe and stuff like that
so i can just plug in my backpack for a workstation hahah.
i was thinking of cutting down an uber eats bag and making it slimmer
so tell me is it possible to power a 750W portable tower?
with relatively portable car battery?
or a stack of rechargeable lithium ion?
and fit it in my backpack?
and get a 3-4hr juice out of it.
i know i am speaking sci fi xd
but just curious
but my plan was to design a portable desktop i can use between campus and accomodation
with power adapters
and then design a portable raspberry for using the screen for traveling long
Asif Farid ill just reply to you in simple words. :) yes its possible to use Both and you can use Latest Mi Power Bank 2i of 20000 mah which has Dual USB Output So that you can power on both raspberry pi 3 as well as the lcd display.
I making this :D

I have a LCD TV panel 28 inch and i want to make a computer monitor.
Does it work on LCD TV panel? To make a computer monitor?
yes it will work, but they will have different boards you can search online.. but you cannot make it portable.
@@TheCyberWolves please can you help me for this
@@favorite1893 If possible i can.
those monitor kits say you need 12v 4A, that's 48W, have you measured the real power usage of it? You can't get more than 2A from a USB port, that's only 10W
Yes it is, please watch full video without skipping.

The Controller board require 12V, 4A (as mentioned in the Controller board info)
But the power-up module gives output 12v 0.8 A on input of 5v 2A. (As mentioned by AliExpress seller)
Did you changed resistance of power-up ? Or everything works without doing any change in the Power-up module?
BTW, Zoro fan!? ♥️
Hi, yep everything works without doing any change. :)
They rarely require the full 4 amps.
I've driven 3 different controllers and monitors that had 12V4A in the ebay description with a 12V1A psu.
Where did get the panel for covering ? And can I buy it online ? Thanks
panel of ?
The panel cover. I have a lcd screen (took it from a broken laptop) but I need some sort of cover or case to protect the screen and its components
