But for anyone attempting this kind of metalwork I would recommend adding some transparent nitrocellulose laquer after polishing the housing since brass tends to build up patina quite fast. It can be removed though but with the paint job done upfront the brass will maintain its finish.

OR much easier, an enclosed welding booth purged with argon. You can easily convert a sandblast cabinet into one. Seal it up and put argon in it. It just needs more pressure than the outside of the cabinet. Argon is heavier than air so the cabinet really doesn't even need a top!!! (I cast titanium golf club heads for 15 years and built the welding cabinets AND vacuum induction machines).

This and some hinges, for a top half.
Combining it with the base parameters design of his watercooled ps5.
Only instead, adding a thin heat sink layer with a louvered bezel to the bottom (by having the ps5 build essentially upside down,) to maintain fan+passive air and thermal control.
Does add a slight thickness to the original slim concept, but with such wide area for thermal management using the whole base as essentially a passive heatsink, paired with the slotted bezel for dispersement of heat (aiming for rear exhaust channels) as well as intake of fresh air on all sides, I believe the added chamber could stay rather slim while simultaneously meeting or beating the watercooled specs without sacrificing a fan system.
Allows him to stick to the external power brick, grab a laptop bag and a ps5 controller, and he’s off to the races.
Potentially even adding a chance at a laptop battery-esque combo, for truly portable/wireless play.
(Even if the standalone battery life would most certainly be dismal 🤣)
All while negating the need of the waterlines+gigantic wall piece, which killed the first ps5 board.
Absolutely not bashing, I’m in love with your work and your channel, and would just love to see the first laptop style, ps5 “move,” be amongst your accolades in the DIY creator space.

Brilliant build! I would like to add just one tip... Brass oxidises. especially when touched with bare hands as the oils in our hands speed up that process leaving the brass tarnished and discoloured. So, to save you the heartache of having to continually polish this, which could lead to potential damage, I suggest clear coating all of the brass once its been cleaned and ready to receive the parts. the Laquerre or Clear coat will create a very hard protective coating on the brass keeping it looking shiny for years if looked after. Then it'll only ever need a simple dust off now and then.

Sure you could say it's just 3D printing things and glueing together but soldering electronic components, doing the actual 3D modeling, and doing prototypes/testing, are all important parts of that kind of DIY. The same applies for this with the only serious difference is that it's much harder for someone to replicate this kind of thing as not everyone can source some materials (brass in this case) or the tools required to work with it. 3D printing is relatively cheap in comparison as people either have access to a printer already, and if they don't, wouldn't have to pay as much to buy one as they would for the materials in just one or two projects.
