Karl Pilkington - Do We Need 'em (Part 2)

- Do We Need 'Em was a feature in which Karl would ask a scientist or an animal expert if the world really needs a particular animal, such as jellyfish or snails. Most of the experts, as well as Ricky and Steve, told Karl that every animal has a knock-on effect, that all creatures are integral to their particular ecosystem. This feature began as Pilkington, with the Parkinson theme tune, and with Karl interviewing someone who claimed to have been visited by a spirit.
Karl ended the feature after just a few weeks because he was convinced that scientists were conspiring against him and would never agree to rid the world of any animal. - Komedie
'Bet you're glad you answered the phone today' ........ I can almost hear the wind and see the tumbleweed.
"I mean, I've called you today because a lot of other places were shut." How to begin an interview,by Karl Pilkington.
Snail man is no doubt Ricky. That kind of kills it for me.
"do we need them?"
"yea"
"yea"
"alright then we'll have to keep em"
"I bet you're glad you answered the phone today?"
"..."
"Right..."
The perplexed tone of these experts. :)
‘do we need ‘em?’
‘yeah’
‘yeah?’
‘well we’ll just av to keep ‘em then’😂😂
the guy he talks to about snails sounds a bit like Rickie
It is ricky
It's interesting that Karl sounds genuinely insane when talking to these people. We are so used to him talking to Ricky and Steve, but hearing him saying his rubbish to 'real' people brings home just how bizarre his opinions are. I mean what the frick is he thinking when he says 'do we need 'em'? That we could or should exterminate whole species? Crazy.
'Bet you're glad you answered the phone today........... Right..' Hahahhaa
"they like beer."
"who doesnt?"
:D
This is the first video I've ever seen on youtube with zero dislikes - Enough said! Best segment of XFM series ever
I love when you can heaar Ricky gasp for air from laughter in the background :D
That's a really good drawing!
do we need em
hahahaha just the tired snails sleep for 13 years.... Karl you're the best kind of maniac there is.
"crawling about, opening jam jars and that..." :))
I really shouldn't eat when I listen to Karl. Almost choke everytime.
"It just sounds a bit crazy to me"
Am I the only person that does a dance when the tune to Pilkington comes on?
I found a series of 12 podcasts on google that I downloaded the MP3s for. I couldn't find any of those ones on here
It's the theme from UK TV's "The Michael Parkinson Show" composed by organist Harry Stoneham.
Parkinson intro - that was the tv programme that used it as it's theme tune. I don't know what the actual piece of music is called or who it's by.
Should've done mosquitoes. I've never heard anything good said about them.
"so I been doin' some research, aite?"
lol! i love that the internet is "Karl's bible" (according to Ricky) :P
4:46 the silence is so loud
Are there any more of these? I'm really hoping so!
Yes mate I did
He literary confused the scientist, Proud of you Karl. That's how they learn :D
"Mad world though, innit?"
Can you upload some more pls
was there a part 3
just the tired ones loool
the knee is the joint between the fibula and tibia and they have 6 legs so they can only have 6 knees. According to every other source on the internet though, they have 18 knees. Although the definition of knee is what she says so that is a bit confusing.
WHat is the song/outro @00:22 ?
My favorite is the cockroach expert because she was forewarned... and yet there was no way she could have anticipated the 18 knees question.
The snail man is Ricky
There is no reason this need to be split into 2 parts
Creator might have limitations on how long of a video they can upload i.e. editing software and computer.
He started defending them lol
Well with hold their breath, he probably meant survive under water for 40 minutes... which is true
Lady scientist putting Karl in his place. Its so frustrating listening an ignorant person trying to argue their way out of a corner *cough* not talking about any group in particular *cough*. But still good on Karl for having a shot at talking about this stuff. Damn funny :P
mosquito's serve no purpose except to piss me off
Karl sounds so disappointed when they say we need 'em
what do you do, as an animal rights??
Expert: ``-you're not quite reading the right sources.''
Karl: ``-well, I've been using the internet.''
snails eat algee, without their contribution algee would overgrow and crowd out larger plants the are the basis for the food chain.
just the tired ones
we milk octopi dont we for ink
Yeah and the woman in part 1 was steve, weird innit?
Snails are important.
Didn't listen to what she said did you?
haha only the tired snails sleeps for 13 years, obviously.

he really doesn't like Mollusks and Cniderians, does he?
He is correct that cockroaches have 18 knees, the women is wrong. Also they can breathe underwater for 40 mins. Dont doubt Carl!!!
the govt have been around for yrs....what are they doing?....do we need them?
You do know this whole segment was about completely getting rid of whole groups of animals, right? Putting them under stress is the least alarming of animal rights violations here.
He looks like Vladimir Putin in this drawing
Woodrow450i if you see this message do you realize I am an animal lefts
He got his facts from here: roach. net/rofacts/
I think your grasping at straws
