I love my vita and switch but I spend more time playing on the vita than the switch and have both modded with 512gb cards full of games , for me the fact that the vita can play ps1, psp and vita games out of the box + tons of emulation and the portability of it takes the crown.

The fact that its super easy to get all vita psp and ps1 games for free is prob why i play my vita most, if i had access to the whole switch library for free right from the console like a hacked vita can it would be a gamechanger

Nintendo does that on purpose, if they wanted, they could pack the latest tech in their handhelds, but at what cost? they understand their market, they know that the vast majority doesn’t know or care about teraflops, ssd, ray tracing, what the mass market care about is that if it is cheap, convenient. It’s fun, looks pretty, has Pokémon, Mario and Zelda, and that’s it, and that’s why they’re selling gazillions of switches

I have the borderlands edition psvita in a box although its not oled it still looks good and plays great. I think Sony could have done away with the proprietary memory and maybe came out with a cheaper compromise than a PlayStation tv to make games full screen. They made one for the psp and it looks good it might not go full screen but it is much bigger. I still love the sounds of a psvita starting up and their store is easy to navigate. • @jasonshouseoffunandvideoga7169

First off, great job with the vid from Content, information and some great laughs. You both make great points on the pros and cons of each system. In my opinion, the ps vita and psp didn't catch on like Nintendo's handhelds for a lot of different reasons. The one that is the most important is the backing and advertising of sony's handhelds. Sony throw there product out there and that was really it. When Nintendo does anything, for better or worse in some cases, you hear about it, see it and will need it as it's the new this and that ect. Not to the extent of the mess that was the Playstation mini but didn't do either of the systems justice. They had good games on it, the ability to download older games and play on the go with what looks to be a good interface. I think Sony will keep far away from the handheld market and stick with consoles. What could have been, the next gen war between the 2 companies in regards to there handheld systems. We could have got a lot more with the competition and pressure on both companies. Those who are comfortable will not provide the same level of excitement, power and great products. Challenged companies or folks shine through on everything. 👊

when you look at games that came out on both side by side, the vita shows a crisper image because the PPI on the Vita is higher. I love both but sometimes it's hard to believe that the Vita came out so many years before the Switch. The UI on the Vita I would say is better, and the form factor is extremely comfortable, but the idiotic decision to make the storage proprietary and never ever just release a micro sd adapter, or hell, even come out saying they would officially support the sd2vita carts that had been produced so they could get more money from digital sales, they could have implemented support for them in an update and even released their own versions with better read/write speeds but they just abandoned it.
The switch isn't without its confusing and backwards choices either don't get me wrong. Why cap screen recording at the previous 30 seconds? Why not have a "start recording" and "end recording" feature either? Lack of live streaming support, no virtual console titles, no xenoblade chronicles x (okay that's maybe just a me thing lol), no themes, no voice chat or messaging, browser, netflix, and yet... I still have so much fun with it too.
I don't have a winner between them. I've played less games on the switch but poured ridiculous hours into them, more games on the vita but less play time in them. I take my vita out and about because it actually fits in my pocket but I play my switch handheld in the house, battery wise though the vita hands down destroys the switch for what I play.
It might sound stupid, but the fact the switch lacks any way for me to talk to my friends when gaming makes me feel really... lonely. Even if when I'm playing on vita I don't exactly talk to friends all the time, the fact I have the option to is weirdly comforting. On switch I'm completely isolated.

Very profound points, I 100% agree! Thank you for sharing!

    • @shortbreadhead
      @shortbreadhead Před rokem

@@JRPGLife I think it's best to be critical rather than just blindly praise something when there are definite improvements that can be made, as much as it pains me to talk negatively about things that genuinely do bring me so much joy, especially because I'm not a particularly negative person, I really don't look for the bad in things. Weirdly I don't feel like when I'm thinking of the things that can be changed that I'm being negative, I feel like I'm imagining the potential and hoping I am somehow vindicated, that what I seen as a good idea was something they ended up seeing as well haha.
It's sad that I don't think sony realise how close they were to making it perfect, and a lot of the failure is completely on them for their lack of marketing, if you're not going to try then of course no one will know. I have a friend who when I mentioned the vita to him he didn't even know it existed, he's a life long playstation fan.
I know Sony said they were out of the handheld game but... I dunno, I kind of hope they backpedal on that decision after seeing the success of the switch and the steamdeck (although, can't really call the steamdeck a console per se, it still ultimately disproves the claim sony made that people don't want handhelds because phones) because they could actually keep the same size or only be slightly bigger. The glass panel on the vita including the bezels, if that was all screen it would be around 6 inches, which, if they upped the resolution, oled panel, L3/R3, L2/R2, Micro SD support, Downscaled cross-buy ps5 games (wishful thinking but imagine the buzz that would get).
Those things alone, aside from the cross-buy dream, would make an actual pocket fitting dream console and none of those things are asking them to go above and beyond since they're just industry standard expectations for controls, the 6 inch screen I think would be plenty for most, but if they made a bigger version as well for those that don't need it then what would go wrong with that assuming they NEVER think about proprietary storage in any way, shape or form.
About nintendo, they really need to socially advance and realise people don't have friends they can see every day but still want to communicate with them, well.. not just that, but it would be a start lol

Fair comparison. But Switch isn't revolutionary for the dock Pocket PCs and cables Nomad/PSP did it first it's the Joycons. Even Neo Geo X or PSP Go. Though a handheld (forget it's name Taki Udon covered it) has magnet Joycons like controllers so it's not anymore. The VIta has its differences. I like both but the Vita more. The Switch Joycons separating and split screen is great. The IR is in the worst spot the Wii did it right.
I couldn't even care less about Bluetooth even if nice. Just the content manager for music/video and such, cameras I'd I want to for AR/using an old camera. It has still more features then Switch even if not compleycomparable. Hardware power is something but the UI even has more personality the Switch is a fast but bland UI. News and other games club whatever info is fine besides necessary but I mean the Vita/3DS/Wii had more things you could do on them on the Home menu. I still use Welcome Park even if a tutorial app it has trophies or I want to know how the features work. It's Playroom on PS4 but for the Vita and even Playroom has Vita support DLC and a Tablet/Phone support feature as DLC too. Then again who used Playlink either those smartphone party games yeah before Everybody 1-2 Switch (I know this video was a year ago, I see the responses too). But yeah. Both companies do their thing and it's great but I mean look deeper please. It's easy to look at Gizmondo and go oh it had barely any games but I mean it had a camera/GPS built in the PSP had them as add-ons. It was a pocket PC game console, Ngage a gaming phone before Xperia Play, Tapwave Zodiac for PDAs, Tiger Game on a Workboy Gameboy add-on but a game console in its one interesting way. Very exciting handhelds in their own hybrid way.
Switch 2 I want to be a Switch/Wii U sync the handheld and console, dock, dual screen support, fix the IR. I doubt a dual screen phone or AR/VR and I also doubt if it has a focus on multiple games/apps focus something Windows 8 and what I wanted the TV TV TV era of Xbox to keep with it's OS but nope there goes those features. So dual screen phones it is instead. I like gimmicks that are useful I'm sick to death of bland consoles with power and standard games with boring mechanics. So if the games are bland controllers change. If good game design I don't mind as much and the controllers still help make it fun. Familiarity is boring and I want to see more happen. If I want a straightforward device I'd get a PC or a regular phone. I don't own a dual screen phone due to price but I do appreciate them as the continuation of dual screen anything. Besides well DS/3DS/Wii U emulation for them to go somewhere naturally then dual windows in a very Sim.Tower way of multiple windows and I don't like that. I prefer a better format of them.
I like the back touchpad why it works well, if I want a toggle sprint I can, no hold, it works for regular games and gimmicky games and anyone that wants buttons wants familiarity I don't want that personally I find it boring.
Revolutionary ha says the PSP/Nomad says Pocket PCs (came before the Steam Deck and has a dock and can work to a monitor hmm sounds like the Switch doesn't it because a dock is nothing new gaming or tech unless you turn a blind eye to history, are a Nintendo fan turning a blind eye to anything not Nintendo or don't care because only care for things that happened nowadays but can't deny the past and a dock /output with a cable is nothing new)
So many came with a dock or cable before the Switch. I hate when people don't do their gaming/tech research. Technically the Super Gameboy even did handheld on the TV even if through a SNES so is it new and revolutionary these ways for the Switch not even.
The Wii U technically yes because it's not using wifi like the PSP/Vita/Xbox/Steam Link does. It's completely possible offline and with a power bank too making it better than the others needing wifi/data (Vita 3G even if discontinued support).
But the Dreamcast VMU or GBA/GameCube did it prior as well, as the DS but the separation allowed for more potential that dual screen phones or even a phone to the TV via third party apps for non TV apps with a cast feature you can use phone only apps on your TV/any screen via wifi aka remote play reversed of small screen to big screen then the opposite of big TV console to handheld that remote play usually isn't able to.
