- So I stopped by Garland Auto Recyclers in South Dallas to see if they had sold that green Mopar (they did) and this 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille was up front. I checked it out and asked a out it as wll. They said it sold for $1500. It was missing the engineamd there appeared to be a giod amount of rust. It was worth it to someone as they probably liked thr 20 inch wire wheels and gator upholstery.

Whoa Nelley, 1973 and it's for me. I just got home from food shopping and there was an old Cadillac (about a 1968) in the parking lot with two younger people getting into it. It had one working back up light and needed an exhaust. LOL. Superfly called, and he wants his Cadillac back. Those rims, interior, vinyl top and exhaust are all hideous and would be gone the first day I owned this car.
We got the VIN, we win: 6 for Cadillac, D for DeVille, 49 for four door hardtop sedan, four window, R for 472 V8 with four barrel, 3 for 1973 model year, Q for Clark Street, Detroit, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Clark Street plant closed in December 1987 and a two-hour video of some of the last days of operation can be found online. The 472 V8 has gobs of torque and they can be made to haul in the right hands.
No tag, can't brag, but some of it can be figured out, no doubt: ST73 for 1973 model year, 6CD49 for Cadillac (6) Sedan DeVille (CD) four door hardtop sedan, four window (49), FWD for Fleetwood Body plant, West End Ave, Detroit, MI with final assembly at Clark Street as noted above, possible 353 for White/Blue interior trim, possible 95 for Ocean Teal Firemist exterior paint, among other codes.
No, that's not accurate to go by the stamped year into a lens to determine the model year. You got lucky in this case. LOL. That is the year it is FIRST approved for use by DOT. I had an argument with a guy at work about this back in 2005 (He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed). He bragged, "Yea, that's how you tell the year". I then told him that 1970-1981 Firebirds all use the same marker lights, down to the GM part number and he could easily be a decade off. He shut up after that. Always, always, always, always go by the VIN and cowl tag for starters and then verify it with other means to double check.
Whoa Nelley, 1973 and it's over for thee. Cadillac had a heart attack. Wearing ugly spokes and makes you want to choke. Was a 472 and it's through. Cadu and it's over for you. That's it, time to quit. Made at Clark Street and time to admit defeat. Body by Fleetwood and now it ain't no good. Going to be flat and that's that. Owned by Superfly and going bye-bye. Going to get squished and all of the Cadu faithful, maybe Benny, I'm sure a few here and yup, the Google Man for sure are all going to be very, very, very pissed.
😄 yea I I've had it where the lense date didn't match the year of the vehicle but often times it has. Just played the odds 😄
I usually confirm before I actually upload the video. Have been a few times though 😄
@@ClassicRideSociety LOL. I get it....
@@ClassicRideSociety Always get the VIN for the....ah you know the drill. LOL.
I concur, the rims and tires would definitely be a priority for removal.
Someone was rolling in style in the 90s
thanks benny a true example of car culture from the past. some love it some hate it . thanks for all you do man .
That was a real beauty about 50 years ago.
Agreed it was. With the rust damage. No motor probably a questionable tranny. Probably end up a money pit to restore that caddy.
Nice kittycat. Definitely worth restoring! 👌🏾
Someone saved it.
wow thanks for showing this! I had that very car!! well not that one but one nearly identical! same color and all! I put a killer paint job on it, new vinyl on the top, tented the window black and then like an idiot sold it! lol
A classy looking car with trashed rims.
Mr. B. Here ! Aaaaa the rolling living room , LOL !
I like the color of the Cadillac, but I really HATE the wheels. Those would be the first thing to go away. Also the crocodile vinyl top. Hope it gets saved! At least for parts because the interior is super nice! Or maybe someone has a 73 with no rust but a destroyed interior.
Someone did buy it. It was $1500
@@ClassicRideSocietyhappy ending another one saved benny and the jets.
@@ClassicRideSociety Good! Even if they bought it for parts it's still a good outcome!
Good Starter project for someone looking to get into restoring cars , it had a 472 in it!
Parts support isn't that great for them. Would be better off with something whereby you can easily get anything from a catalog.
Absolute money pit. Easier just to burn your cash 😂
I have commented here before that I never was a Cadillac fan. This video reminded me of the time my father in law loaned his 73 Cadillac, same 4 dr body, but in gold with an almond interior and roof to my wife and I so we could take 2 friends to a concert in Pittsburg, PA in 1979. That car was beautiful and drove even better. Haven't thought of that in an age!
At the civic arena when it was still new, right? Lol
@@diedonner299 Actually it was the Buhl Planetarium and it was a laser light show to music.
73 Caddy when in doubt look for the 5mph bumpers. I'm not a fan of those early 70s Caddys. They chocked the hell out of them with the pollution controls. Thanks for making the video.
Beautiful
Benny, I was 11 years old when that car came out.😂
i didn't exist then 😄
Ostrich Skin. Looks like Grandpa's Caddi from the movie License To Drive. 😆
Definitely a project
I don't like the front end treatment of the '73 Cadillacs, but I could do something custom for that. And without an engine, it's barely worth half the asking price. But it is still a Cadillac.😁
Hopefully someone will buy it Benny before it gets consumed by the crusher.
Someone bought it
Definitely a 73 I know Cadillacs..sure don't see them anymore
Correct, 1973 model year confirmed by the VIN.
@@googleusergp I can tell by the grill and the back bumper and taillights..I use to have one but mine was a two door coupe Deville and had the big 472 cubic inch motor in it.
@@davidmckinney6577 I go by that and the numbers.
I'm assuming that the "Kim Special" Toyota pickup has been sold??? I don't see it anymore!
Probably that or they put inside for parts
@@ClassicRideSociety Oh no, I hope not! I'm curious if you see any Toyota pickups from the 80s and 90s in that specific yard.
For some reason here in northern calif i seen a few and they r always beige
Built like a tank 🙃
Benny, that Caddy is a mess.
I agree
Benny and the jets I bet if you could get inside there would be plenty of weed in the seats and carpet lol
When Merca was #1😊
🇺🇸💪
I’d take it back to stock. It wouldn’t be that bad of a project car.
Wait I here the crusher revving up hold on Ill load it up stand by.
this one actually sold as well
I'm guessing this someone's pimp 73 Caddy looks like it kustomzued 27 years ago.
I'd buy it
Someone bought it
Wasn't that fury 3 sitting in that same spot
It was bur they sold it. They sold this one as well
That was a good find. If them tires were holding air ,them wheels are salvageable? I restore those type of wheels.
I'd only be interested if those were real Daytons. not chinas
@@ClassicRideSociety definitely
Like to have wheels on it
Hello like to know is that car for sale, I've got Doanner with engine, Trans.
they sold it
@@ClassicRideSociety thanks, what about 76Buick Park Ave.
Where is this??!!!
It was at Garland Auto Salvage in South Dallas Texas
Terminal rust. 1500 dollar parts car 😢
$1500 is what it sold for
mexicaneado cady 😅
She was nice in her day but it’s time to RIP
Put a 4100 in it lol
It's a 1973
Crush it. Too far gone. Filled to the brim with BONDO
Surprisingly they sold it for $1500
One of the ugliest front ends of any old cadillac. 1957/8 was a true beauty
$1500..? Nope.
Someone bought it
@@ClassicRideSociety Hope they paid a lot less. If not, well, there is an adage or two that fit
@@olikat8 I asked the guy at rhe counter and he said $1500 is what they sold it for. I saw that car at the auction a few before. It must have sold pretty cheap for them to sell it for $1500
@ClassicRideSociety Man...smarter to spend more for a complete car. Be far cheaper, too
Ugh. No thanks.
