Whoa Nelley, "Everyone takes a ride in a Cadillac". 1980 and gotta go. In this case, they did use a DeVille, which is the cheap way to go. A Short Sills Cowl ("Z" Series") or a Fleetwood Limo is what is typically used to construct a limo. Armbruster/Stageway is still in business at 8410 Ball Rd, Fort Smith, AR 72908.
We got the VIN, we win: 6 for Cadillac, D for DeVille, 69 for four door sedan, 6 for 6.0L (368 CID) V8 with four barrel, Cadillac produced, aka RPO code "L61", aka "Last Man Standing", A for 1980 model year, 9 for Clark Street, Detroit, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Clark Street plant closed in December 1987. The 368 CID V8 with four barrel was used from 1980-1984 in various vehicles (commercial car use from 1981-1984) and the 368 CID V8 with modulated displacement (VIN code "9", RPO code "L62") was used from 1981-1984 (1982-1984 was commercial car use only). The 368 CID V8 is an excellent engine and true last of the breed for Cadillac.
No tag, can't brag, but some can be figured out, no doubt: 80 for 1980 model year, 6CD69 for Cadillac (6) Deville (CD) four door (69), FWD for Fleetwood Body plant, West End Ave, Detroit, MI with final assembly at Clark Street, 11L and 11U for Cotillion White exterior paint, 03A,B,C etc. for a given week of March 1980 production, among other codes. I think the coachbuilder provides that seat because if this started life as a DeVille, it was cut in the center and that portion was added by the upfitter. The bracketry looks like a van or truck style seat, so maybe that's what they used and modified it.
Whoa Nelley, last ride and you can't save its hide. That's it, time to quit. 368 used to be great. Quadrajet was a sure bet. Cadu and it's over for you. "I know you're looking for a ruby in a mountain of rocks, and there ain't no Coupe DeVille hidin' at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box". (Meatloaf, Two Outta Three Ain't Bad/Bat out of Hell/1977). Lots of junk in the trunk. Going to be flat and that's that. RPO code L61 is done. Please don't get squished because all of the Cadillac faithful, probably not Benny, but the Google Man will surely be very, very, very pissed.

It's only fitting as It's kind of like a funeral and we can always rely on the Google man to say a few good words, unless it's a Ford. In this case a funeral for a funeral car.

I think this one shows perfectly what coachbuilders in the 80's and 90's did when stretching cars. You can tell by looking at her roof that they just didn't care about the materials they were using or in what way they were doing it. It's an issue with many coachbuilt cars of the era, I had plenty of Cadillac hearses from the era and boy oh boy, my favourite find to this day is doing up one of my Superior Hearses just to find out they space out the entire interior of the car using rough, untreated two by fours. Some of them screwed in using 5 different types of screws in all the wrong angles. They really are beautiful cars and I'd never want to miss them but they sure are pretty shoddy sometimes.

Armbruster stageway was the very first in the United States to build limousines and funeral coaches starting in 1903. It wasn't until the early 30's that other coachbuilders came in and secured a spot in the ambulance and funeral industry. Side note, i would've popped that tag off the trunk lid.

That style limousine is used to transport family members at funeral services, and was previously owned by a funeral home most likely.

Id say it could have gone either or for this particular limo. Reason I thought it might be a funeral limo was because I found a funeral pamphlet inside

She's rusted like Swiss cheese, too bad, thus limo is like a shuttle limo which makes her more rare than a stretch or formal limo as those do t have 6 doors only the passenger ,this is equal to the extra long passenger vans. Just sad they let her just sit and rot for decades. Thanks for posting

Why do people keep calling these extended sedans limousines. To be a limousine there has to be a glass partition between the driver and the passenger.
