1989 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance Junkyard Find

- I tell you, these big 80s rear wheel drive Cadillacs just keep getting junked. Here at the Ft Worth Texas Pick n Pull this 1989 Brougham d'Elegance model showed up recently after sitting since 2007. Not much was really wrong with it aside from a minor fender bender in the front driver's side and being dirty both inside and out from sitting for 15 years. The interior looked like it was a deep cleaning away from looking really nice aside from the dropping headliner. The dash did also have a few cracks as well. I bet this one could be a running and driving car without much effort. Unfortunately that won't be happening as it will be parted out then crushed. Another neo classic Cadillac goes away.

Wow that car is too nice to be in a junkyard. A bath, a detailing and get her running.
Agreed
Another shame to see a classic caddy in the yard
awesome find! keep up the great work!
👍
that was a great video Benny, I love seeing the old 1980s Caddys ✌
👍
If you should ever find a Garage door opener remote on that overhead console on those caddys, you should take it. That is a rare option, it just slides in and out of the overhead where it says Cadillac, normally it is just trap door to hide stuff, but the optional Garage door opener remote slides in there.
I'll keep an eye out for it
@@ClassicRideSociety A lot of people would put change up there and short things out, thinking it was a change holder or compartment. LOL.
Man those were sweet back in the day. I’m proud to say I’ve owned two white ones. An 87 and 88
If they were rear wheel drive Broughams like this one, then they both had 307 V8s in them.
These with the Oldsmobile and Chevy engines were the best of the best of these ole ride’s
Yeah, "Cadillac" had very little to do with "G.M. quality". I learned this first-hand.
Absolutely wrong!!
@@jeffmiller3150 sorry you disagree my neighbors back in the 80’s had a Cadillac with the HT 4100 v8 nothing but problems ask any mechanic their engines in the 80’s were junk
@@jeffmiller3150 Caddy engines were CRAP, they PROBABLY still are!
Whoa Nelley, 1989 and used to be fine. Yep, I think that Regency Motors was a used car dealer and they are long gone. It's pronounced "BROME" (rhymes with "chrome") D-Elegance. AutoEvolution is the website that picked up the video on the 1979 Cadillac shown in the previous video.
We got the VIN, we win: 1G6 for US made Cadillac, DW for Brougham, 5 for four door sedan, 1 for manual seat belts, Y for 307 Oldsmobile V8 with four barrel, aka RPO code "LV2", aka "Mini Pocket Rocket", 2 is a check digit, K for the 1989 model year, R for Arlington, TX assembly, and the rest is the production sequence. The Arlington, TX plant still operates today and produces trucks such as the Suburban. The 307 Oldsmobile engine is a solid, reliable engine and personal favorite of mine. They run smoothly and they run, run, run, run, run, run, and then run some more. One of GM's better engines. Add that to the Cadillac RWD Brougham and you got a two for one winner. There was a big relief for Cadillac salespeople (including my dad) when the 307 was used in the RWD Broughams from 1986-1990. They brought reliability back to Cadillac, something that was very needed at the time.
We got the SPID, glad you did: 6DW69 for Cadillac (6) Brougham (DW) four door sedan (69), AG2 for split bench with multidirectional power adjustment, ARL for Arlington, TX assembly, AS8 for manual seat belts, A81 for power back reclining seat, A91 for rear compartment lid release, vacuum control, B34 and B35 for floor mats front and rear, B48 for luggage compartment trim, B84 for exterior side moldings, B93 for door edge guards, C49 for rear window defogger, C68 for automatic temperature control, C89 for quarter interior reading lamps, DG2 for left and rear remote control mirrors, manual control, D64 for RH illuminated vanity mirror, D74 for LH illuminated vanity mirror, D98 for accent striping, GU5 for 3.23 rear axle ratio, J41 for power front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, cast iron, K60 for 100 amp alternator, LV2 for 307 Oldsmobile V8 with four barrel, aka VIN code "Y", MW9 for THM200-4R four speed automatic overdrive transmission, NA5 for standard Federal emissions, NP5 for leather wrapped steering wheel, N91 for simulated wire wheel covers, PG1 for 15x6 steel wheels, T82 for automatic headlamp control, UM6 for AM/FM stereo auto reverse cassette with seek and scan and clock, U66 for custom speaker system, U75 for power antenna, VK3 for front license plate bracket, 11U (or WA3967) for White exterior paint, 11T for White vinyl top, and the other 11 codes are for secondary exterior trim (moldings, etc), 20G for Very Dark Sapphire cloth interior trim and the other "20" codes refer to other Very Dark Sapphire secondary interior trim items, among other codes. Arizonian Tires were made by Cooper and were sold through Discount Tire almost exclusively.
Whoa Nelley, Cadu and it's over for you. 307 and going to Heaven. LV2 and it's through. Brougham is soon going to go home. 1989 and outta time. DW69 and it's the end of the line. That's it, time to quit. Rochester Quadrajet got upset. Four door and it doesn't go anymore. Exterior painted white and soon to take flight. Inside of blue and it's just about through. Going to be flat and that's that. "Won't You Fly Freebird" and this one turned into a turd. Going to get squished and all of the Cadillac faithful, many viewers here and especially the Google Man are going to be very, very, very, very, very, very, very pissed.
How many of these cars you think could actually run? This caddy deserves a home not a crusher
This is one of them. Fresh fuel and fluids and this one is a runner.
Yeah I bet that Caddy could be driven out of that junkyard. Shame they tried to save that blue Buick and not this 89 Brougham or the 84 Coupe DeVille
She's dope!!!!
Full body on frame Caddies are popular platforms to turn them into "Donks" but this one was overlooked.
That 89 Brougham Caddy was good looking car 31 years ago pearl white with blue interior could be neat land yacht if it wasn't in pick n pull yard even has small but trustworthy Olds 307 powerplant.
Not Pearl White, just regular code 11 standard white.
I would love to restore that…. Please tell me you took that caddy home
It's at a pick n Pull yard. Once out in the yard for parts, no saving it
A 89 Cadillac? You havent watched Gone in 60 Seconds I recon
@@cmcmcc553 the one with Nicolas cage?
@@ClassicRideSociety yes
Just get one that doesn't need restored for 10% of what that would cost!!
I've had to get rid of of a few cars due to unfortunate circumstances but I'll never get rid of my 91 brougham lol. Had it for 10 ten years and bought it used from a dealership. Always was a project but got sidelined frome wear and tear. I've been offered money with a car for it and it's just in slightly better shape than the one here in the video. I can still drive it and it cranks everytime. I'm subbed and love the videos btw. Send a link so I can share a video of my hog wit u 💯
A rescue mission.
Unfortunately they won't sell it whole anymore
Another one that could be saved. Guess you can’t save them all!
That Olds 307 under the hood was a good engine. Not a rocketship by any means-but it was enough to make the Cadillac roll down the road.
As reliable as can be.
'There's no replacement for displacement'.
@@ValdezJu True, but the Olds 307 was a welcome relief when it was offered in 1986. The HT4100 was bad news for Cadillac.
Also I believe there were no more big blocks except for the Chevy by that time, right Google man?
@@ClassicRideSociety Yeah. Technically-the last big block in a Cadillac was the 368 in 1981 with a 8-6-4 contraption. If you unplugged the module-you would have a 368 running on all 8 at all times.
Take the wire wheel covers. They are worth 👌money, or you can use them as replacements.
How do I get a hold of you trying to pick up some of those Cadillacs does the junkyard sell them
That car is at pick n pull in Ft Worth Texas. Don't think they will sell it whole
I'm in need of some opera lights if you happen to find one
Those tires were sold at Discount tire.
👍
Where this at?
Pick n Pull Ft Worth
There's no replacement for cubic displacement... all right ....what TV series did that come from???anybody????
A Broham yes 😆
😄👍
Brougham is ready to go home....
Both are decent cars 🙈🤷♂️
Agreed
What's with the orange paint on engine parts ?
I believe its to signify that the air conditioning system is discharged
What an absolute waste. It would make for a realistic revival video and driving it across the country! I'd take this over a Model 3 any day!
Most likely the owners got old and couldn't drive anymore. That was during the start of the Great Recession where gas prices went up. It survived the Cash for Clunkers program, but it hasn't seen any action since Bush was president. Such a shame.
If the hood ornament is still there on the 84 coupe, can you grab it for me? I really need a new one for my 78!
I was surprised that ornament was still there. I'll look if I have an extra one in my ornament box. If so you can have it
@@ClassicRideSociety Sweet Benny! I'd be eternally grateful ^-^
It must be that time a year to scrap caddys..lol🤣
Seems like caddys and olds delta 88s are always getting scrapped around here
Probably driven by a senior, kids did not care for it after the senior passed!
I bet it's somewhere along those lines
Im in dallas tx info on car location???
Pick n Pull Ft Worth
@@ClassicRideSociety thank you wounder y they never send them to dallas
@@reyesjose214 it's luck of the draw. I've made videos of caddys that hit the Pick n Pull on 2nd Ave and south Central. About a month ago one hit the south Central location but I didn't go out there to check it out
That 4 door looks too nice to be in a scrapyard. Im guessing the grandparent(s) owned it. They passed away and their family members didnt cared about the car.
lo valu cars unless they have lo mi and pristine cond
I had A 78 Caddy. Did great in The demolition Derby
Usually the frame bends down and they hang up on themselves.
@@CR7659 mine didn't lol
Take the radio out
Worst engine in some of the nicest car's GM ever made.
I thought the 4100 V8 was worse
@@ClassicRideSociety Both a terrible mistake, if they only made the 81 up big GM cars with a better drivetrain, they would have been perfect
307 Oldsmobile sounds like an Oldsmobile but are useless engines, shame.
@@brianbayer9746 I bought a 79 Couple DeVille, new, they were far from perfect then!!!!
Your vids are cool I'm just not into 70s ,80s, or 90s cars and the new ones they are the worst.
My favorite decade for cars is the 60s. Unfortunately anything from the 60s and earlier just aren't going to the junkyards that as much anymore
Except that one's got the wussy engine in it
