Time ago I was playing as Turkey in 1946 and eventually I and the Allies got in a stalemate con the north coast of France and Benelux's coast. I hadn't too much factories so I couldn't start spaming SuperH Tanks or S-Bombers, I couldn't paradrop behind them 'cause they had like 3k fighters in northern France and I had only 50 and Germany had lost all of his airforce in the invasion of Russia, I didn't even tried to do a naval invasion because my navy was so tiny and the US and UK's navy would destroy my ships instantly. So I decided to left that game, 'cause, God, Italy and Germany's AI were too useless and basically was I alone vs all the Allies dude.
Did you at least do the begging part so they don't do to you what they did to Mussolini? 😁, not meaning to rub sand in your wounds.

As Germany you can upgrade generals to Fortress Buster. That way you can push through fortlines without much effort, just use some mediums and perma activate it. The cost isn't very high and the fortresses will melt before your very eyes

My experience from my last try (still a beginner): 2 7-2 Infantry armies (48 divisions), 14 20-width medium tank divisions. All fully equipped. Couldn't get through Belgium and Netherlands due to the infantry death stack by Belgium, Netherlands, France and GB. Always looking envious on videos where people go through France and the Soviet Union like it's hot butter, and I'm still unsure about what I'm doing wrong.
I know im late: You need air superiority and close air support that's pretty much it. I never use tanks in France just don’t need them there, use them on the Eastern front.

You’re videos are fantastic, and this one is my favorite so far.
I'll add to this, strategic bomb other areas, even if you don't have many bombers if you threaten a lot of other land besides the front line then they'll pull a ton of fighters away, allowing you to secure aerial superiority relatively easily, allowing you to push with just CAS. If you still can't get through then only push on one province with specialist units using Medical tents, Logistics, Anti-air (for piercing) & high organisation, try to use special forces to counter the terrain for these units (marines for rivers, mountaineers for hills and such, tanks for plains, ect), make sure you're not pushing a forest zone since it'll make your close air support worse, and try to push from multiple sides using 80 combat width each, this will allow more planes to assist and make the fight a lot easier.
Finally I'll add that supply lines can be taken advantage of, if you can destroy ports then units on other islands will suffer heavy attrition, this can be taken advantage of by putting a ton of units on a different front far away, then allowing the enemy attempt to "match" your army, then destroy the ports they used and watch as all their men run out of equipment, don't kill them, instead just let them sit there and run out of equipment, every time they get a new shipment it'll quickly deplete. Slowly but surely the mainland forces won't be able to back their units losses and will run out of equipment too.

And finally you could explain what the individual combat modifiers do. Many players probably don't understand the difference of attack and breakthrough. Also explain how much more attack you need than defense to do optimal damage?
thats one i dont know if i can do or not, there are so many different modifiers that can change based on the situation, ill write it down and try to do it for a future upload tho

@@keepsmiling7645 It does. I've seen AA reduce CAS damage by 3/4, while also reducing penalty from enemy air superiority, shooting down some planes and even piercing enemy light tanks. It's great.

At the end there's something you can do retreat your troops back to far enough where the enemy can advance and not have the need for troops on the maginot line then do a incirclement
Another video idea could be breaking down the best plane variations. I think fighters is just 5 on the engine but I don't know what to modify on my CAS or other planes. You could explain the same for tanks aswell.
actually i can help you right now the way to upgrade is as follows "fighters | Engine=>Reliability=>weapons=>range" ill do a video on it later including tanks

Dustinl796 Videos Why would you increase weapons? That just cripples you, as air attack never matters for Fighters.
To be honest a lot of things on this game say something one way, but play out totally different a perfect example of this is the video I did on a 46 with tank division, it could literally smash through anything and destroy a 40 with infantry mixed with heavy tanks. Logically that wouldn't work at all and statistically it shouldn't work but it does, with Fighters I've noticed once you upgrade weapons they do shoot down more planes. One time a few friends and I tested it and once weapons was maxed out in an air Battle of a thousand Fighters I shot down around a hundred more
I prefer to max out engine and then combine range and reliability.
Engine gives more agility, which in turn *should* make your planes hit theirs a tiny bit more but more importantly dodge some attacks so that over time your production will overtake theirs.
And I like the range upgrades so you don't get whopped by that efficiency penalty.

i gotta say that i need this so badly am playing as salvador against honduras but after taking half of their country they bring up a bunch of divisions and now i can advance
My favorite is sometimes to troll the AI and do some die hard camping and the death toll is like 100 vs. 1,000,000
What about massing tanks or infantry with SPG ( or better yet H-SPG, SH-SPG) in one province then giving a spearhead order to breakthrough and encircle the defending enemy line?

Oh wow thanks! And yes I am a Carolina fan, also I'm currently working on the ideas of doing a small tutorial on how to play the US. The only problem I keep having is Hearts of Iron has so many different variables it's kind of hard to make a base tutorial for a nation though. Also I got one question. Once you encircle the enemy is it best to instantly attack them or wait a while to let them gain attrition.
Well that depends, if you encircle division usually it's better just to attack them immediately, this way you don't have to keep troops behind the line, you don't have to worry about them breaking out or anything like that. But if the same time if say your army is 20 witdths, and encircled divisions are 40 widths, mixed with anti-tank it might be better to let them take on some attrition first
you should make a "guide to communist nations" or a "guide to democratic nations". I almost exclusively play as germany and I have very little idea on how to play as a communist nation like the soviets

I got like a thousand or more defense on the Netherlands now. On the border with Germany. They just can't get through. Extra defense multipliers from research, generals, field marshal, forts, AA, entrenchment, some woods.
I have air supriority an guarded coasts.
Heck I could even retreat behind the rivers and use the water lines as an extra bonus with the river. Then no one will ever get through.
OR have Erich von Manstein w/ Fortress Buster perk, kitted out with Artillery and maybe have Superior Firepower Doctrine for good measure.
Then just use Siege Artillery command (+/- 25 command points for 6 days, so have plenty saved up). I usually use this to cap Czechoslovakia as Germany early game,
so not for the best fortress defences like France.
PS. you have Gotthard Heinrici and Erich von Manstein which both start out with the engineer trait. This allows both of them to get the Fortress Buster trait.

I invaded Russia as part of a Restoring the Kaiser game and just after taking Moscow my frontlines stalled...my units had lost so much men their experience had gone all the way back down to recruit.

You can actually get throw the magino line with cas, the Bunkerknacker and inf you also rather make art then tanks its more cost afficant the magino line is really no Problem vs the KI

im a new player, first actual run of the game as germany, take out poland easy and other small countries. but as soon as i get to the netherlands and belgium the UK drops 3K fighters, i have AA built up around what i got but jesus its like theyre peashooting AA guns
i searched "how to capitulate the uk late game" and this shows up
At one point or another my games just turn into troop grinding sim
One last comment and video suggestion for you. Can you do a strategy guide on popular multiplayer mode like road to 56. A lot of vanilla players struggle to transition to modded multiplayer because they don't understand the basic mechanics and there is no good r256 guides on CZcams that I could find.

A few hours after starting my first HOI4 game. Im invading Romania as Hungary. 1.5 Million to 10k deaths. I quit the game after that

Also, it's your first game, so don't worry about it. In my first game (playing Canada) I only researched infantry because I didn't realise the other tabs existed, and only trained one unit at a time because I somehow thought that was a good idea. You'll figure it out.
Can you do a video how you blitzkrieg? With Germany I get a stalemate in the Netherlands and Yugoslavia. I saw u do it in the Germany series where only your tanks attacked and broke the line

i made 2x 15 division army on Holland and Belgium and hold line
put 2x 24 army + one 24 panzer army on Luxembourg
make breakthrough >> right wing go to France/Belgium border, left wing cut Maginot line, and panzers run to Paris
when France capitulate, just sweep Belgium from France

I wanted to know if what is happening with me is a bug or what, but there can be such defended positions that a infantry division with only infantry templates can hold out 120 divisions composed of various tanks, mechanized, infantry etc
yes, stats like forts, air superiority, entrenchment, and doctrine all can cause that

Can't remember what happens to the infra of a province that gets nuked, since I never use/need them
They do get destroyed but they also can repair pretty fast
if they ban strats just use tacs to strat bomb
Easiest way to beat the AI in this game, is to literally do absolutely fuck all, they happily kill themselves on your frontlines, and then it's a slow walk to all the VP's

There are three types of bombers in hoi4, strategic bombers, medium bombers, and Cass which are dive bombers

Just having my first game. I’m deep in stalemate as Germany against USSR, having launched late in 1944. It’s now 1946 and I still haven’t taken Kiev.
I thought a good way to break the stalemate was to support a coup. So a year later the Russian Empire sprung up around Stalingrad which took a lot of Soviet divisions from my front line and I’m making better progress. But to my horror, everything I’ve taken so far turned into Russian Empire territory, so it was like peeling back the Soviet Union only to expose a Russian empire underneath.
I’m really shitting my pants now as the last thing I want is winning this gigantic war only to give the prize to the new Russian Empire that I fostered.
Has anyone had the same thing happened to them? What’s the end result?

To oversimplify this video for you guys, just do Hiroshima and Nagasaki but X100 on the entire front line

breaking stalemate is not that hard in WW2 scenario but i would like a tutorial how to break a stalemate in The great war mod. i cant even invade Belgium as Germany
Pretty much you just have to wait until tanks, eventually once it gets bogged down it's almost impossible to break unless you get tactical bombers and start bombing ground units while using Scout planes get air superiority giving them a penalty

It is actually not that hard, you just need to make some infantry divisions with a lot of heavy artillery (like 8 or 10 per division). Add some planning and air superiority on top of that and you should be able to break the stalemate.

Huh, so its the fucking entrenchments that's causing me to lose 41 divisions vs 13 divisions. Also feels like flanking does absolutely nothing in this game.
How to break through when your enemy 140 40 width devision each tile 8-20 40 width devision. I have air superiority and strat and had bombed entire infrastructure. Still I just couldn't breakthrough. It is not river line but as it is Balkans it's full of mountains.
If you have air superiority make sure you went down your air Doctrine, if you go down either the left or right air Doctrine for strategic destruction or operational integrity you'll get air superiority bonuses in combat also if you go down Superior Firepower which I'm not sure if you did towards the bottom on the bottom left it also gives up on us, with all these options you can give a penalty of up to 70% for having air superiority which would really help in your case it sounds like

At 1:33 you set up priority for the bombings, is that a mod?
Nope, if you're unable to do it right now then you need to waking the tiger DLC, it should be like a little Target icon beside the strap bombing icon and then you can select the factories you want to bomb, or anything you want to Target. After enabling it there is a 75% higher chance of those bombers hitting those targets instead of anything else. But they can still hear other stuff

Got any China strategy? I’ve been holding the river with level 2 forts but they always do me with a naval invasion or para drop in Shandong (I’m talking MP)
4 multiplayer China is incredibly tough, the only main ways you can survive is to have somebody support you with enough planes get air superiority or make an alliance with someone. Since you're talking about multiplayer another thing you could do is go down your focus tree to try to take out the Warlords and get as much land in factories as possible. Start spamming as many 10 widths as you possibly can to make a line, even if they're undersupplied they'll still be pretty good. The reason I say 10 wits is because this will make the Japanese or whoever you're fighting troops fight you for a very long time. By the time they're starting to breakthrough there or should be gone unless they're 40 wits. The only thing they wouldn't be able to stop would probably be tanks, gl

You tell that to the guy in a multiplayer game a week ago who was China an invaded the Japanese cuz I waited too late Annex them, and then after making him Rage Quit China then turned its focus on the British Raj and Russia. By the end of the game China owned all of Asia including the Philippines, don't ask me I don't know how, half of Russia and British Raj 😂
Why no forts? I usually always build level 2 forts on the river seeing as that is the only way I can hold.
What would you suggest to build then?
Forts are good in everything, the only problem is they take time away from your production where you could be making more Mills, and since you would have to build a fort on almost every Province behind that River to hold the Japanese off it's almost not worth it unless you know Japan's going to take awhile to go to war, most of the time I just prefer the idea of making a lot of 10 with infantry divisions so they will be high org so they can hold for a long time, and then make divisions later on but you have enough to stockpile guns that have artillery in them, and then try to push back the Japanese. You could also use Calvary as they have a little bit more attack and defense than Infantry, if I remember right

the only mods i was using when doing this video were strategic view adjustments and zoom in further, the reason it looks so much nicer is i was also doing some post editing to make it more colorful

I control like all of the world in 1952 (first world conquest as germany) but i just cannot break the soviet lines (they're my last enemy, the allies are dead)
I attack Germany with 100 of my divisions on 3 of theirs, i have green air but cant break through
My issue is that somehow they have 1000 def and there are not even forts
Usually you just have to get air superiority and a lot of cas and bleed them out pretty much
Should I add a third motorized unit in the template for extra org?
You can if you want, what I've seen work best is as long as it has 30 organization it's good

I'm doing a German Empire run, and I thought I'd just invade and puppet Italy (Road to 56). I'm bogged down attacking out of Austria, and outnumber them by nearly 3 to 1. I considered spamming tanks, but it's not part of my strategy for this one. Any advice?
Use air support like dive-bombers and tactical bombers if you're not going 2 use tanks
@@dustinl796 I do have tanks, I'm just limiting them to 3 divisions per army. My templates at 9/3 infantry/art, 9/3 motorized infantry/mot. art. and 6/3 light tanks/motorized
If you're going to use them to attack I strongly recommend full on divisions mixed with other tanks and motorized or tanks, self-propelled artillery and tank Destroyers with motorized
