Great video thank you. First I have seen that that answers clearly the difference between likely piston ring damage and valve seal damage.

I think this solved my problem of it smoking up for 5 mins and smoke dissapearing , I did get told by mechanic my valve seals are badly leaking

To help check if its rings vs valves. Do a compression test , than u can fill a low comp cylinder with thickkk oil to seal the rings. Do a second comp test with the oil and if its still bad comp its the valves. If the thick oil seals the rings you'll know if your rimgs are bad. This test doesnt eliminate the possibility of both vales and rings being bad , but it can help with diagnosis. Cheers everyone

Hi, good and educational video. My Suzuki Grand vitara 2005 ( 130K km on the odometer ) started to do this the last 6 months, ie white / grey smoke only on startup. However , there is significant oil combusted and needing about 500mls of engine oil top up every 400km driven. Would a leaking valve seal lose that much oil ? Would you consider a dysfunctional PVC valve as another cause ? Thanks ahead for your reply.
