Theres this thing/phenomenon in psychology that when we as human beings break certain severe social barriers (like assault or killing someone) it becomes easier for us to continue breaking other societal rules because they dont seem severe or threatening anymore. I imagine its a similar thing with these predators. The rush they get from just thinking about the crime is tempting enough to go forward and do other things they never thought they would have. "I already broke the rule by talking to a minor, so escalating behaviors like driving several hours to their house doesnt seem that weird to me right now"

This was kinda the nail in the coffin for this show. Most predators never served any actual time because the stuff they admit to in the sting house is inadmissible as evidence in court because they were not informed of their rights before Chris Hansen's questioning (which would be illegal for Chris Hansen to mirandize not being an officer)

Even if they say they’re willing to most of the time they only do that because they got caught, they would do it again in a heartbeat and probably do reoffend behind closed doors. It’s best not to let them back out into society until they show with their actions over the course of years that they do intend to change for the better.
Possibly through therapy and jail programs. They shouldn’t be allowed around town though!
