It is irritating that this guy only served 2yrs for violating his parole, and none for carrying a whole murder kit while going to "see" a 13yr old.

The problem is there is no law against having duct tape and rope in your trunk. There should be a law that if you are in the commission of x,y, or z crime and these items are found then its an extra charge. Why isn't that a thing. Seems pretty simple to me.

I carry a tarp and tape in my truck. Both have been useful on separate occasions.
If you notice the wording they use for the weapons, they go over what kind they are and make sure to tell you the calibers as if that makes them more dangerous, but none of it was illegal.
Carry one gun or twenty in your car, not illegal.
If the prosecution had made any claims about intended kidnapping or murder, they would have had a hard time proving it.

A tarp and tape are not illegal and have a multitude of uses. I tell people they should carry those things for emergencies anyway.

Let's say the court did start prosecuting for intent just because someone has a weapon. Should someone who buys a bag of weed with a Saturday night special on him be prosecuted as a high-risk drug runner? He would only have a gun if he was operating a major drug ring.
What if someone is going to a gun show with cash and fifty .22 rifles, and they dlget pulled over for doing five over the limit?
Clearly a gun running operation. Why else would someone carry so much cash and weapons? (This did happen to someone driving through Tennessee with cash to purchase a car. Police pulled them over and seized the money for themselves, claiming it could only be drug money.)
It's only selfish when you make knee-jerk legal decisions based on your feelings without considering the long-term ramifications.
Investigation needs to happen on all these judges who let these creeps go Scott free.

He wasn’t even supposed to be within so many feet of a school or around minors! I lost faith in cops because he took me home one night and pulled into a closed business so sa me. A cop found us and saved me but this man got off again! I got a ticket and the cop told me even if I fight it the judge would enforce it because I was out past a curfew (which was bs anyway I was on my way home from work!) This is actually where I live and this episode freaked me out, especially this guy. At the time I was still a teenager so this episode freaked me out when it first came out. I was excited for it to air, but was mortified at the end (one of them I also recognized - The Hard Rock Cafe server). It's sad and scary to think that evidence suggesting murder isn't enough to get some form of conviction. They don't do anything here unless something happens first. Which is beyond disappointing and dangerous way to do things. Just grateful it was a decoy and not one of us.

I'm with Dane on this one, messed up that his sentence was a smack on the hands, yeah that wasn't a real 13 year old but the fact that he packed a friggin kill and hide kit, was patroling the house, and drove all that way is beyond just a fluke. He planned that all out and what if that was a 13 year old with a single mom? Just imagining what could have happened has my stomach in knots and shaking my head.

I don't agree with the way the justice system works but this is my opinion too. If you're a cop and you commit a crime that harms someone, that could harm some or is supposed to harm someone in any way you should get double the punishment of a regular person. If you signed up to be a "protector" and you do the opposite of that you definitely should not be allowed to just walk free or with the most minimal time in jail possible. If any civilian did the unneeded things cops do on a regular basis they would be in jail for a long time or shot dead.

As someone who wanted to be a cop but got medically disqualified, but did work as a dispatcher, and security for state police headquarters, and now works security for a state university, I personally think it is disgusting that cops are not held to a higher standard with more severe sentencing for crimes especially of this nature. Back the blue but hold them accountable.

If ever there was a time for "we thought he was reaching for a gun" this was it.
TCAP lasted from 2005/6-2008. The laws back then was horribly lax and slaps on the wrists. TCAP was the reason why we have a public registry today. Chris often said that he thought he'd do one or two stings and stop. Now it's been almost 20 years and he's still going strong. Doing investigations in several states and often returning to said states. It shows that predators are a total problem. What's worse is that some of them know the show and still show up. Yes, the odds are incredibly low but the chances are still there.
Like with Kevin, Spikes is one of the reasons why the laws got harsher later on. Plus this particular sting was in Florida. When had Florida done anything with sense? But it shows the twisted double standard the justice system has. We keep hearing stories about criminals with a full wiki about their criminal offenses who should be buried under jail but they're able to walk around in society without a care in the world. Whereas people who commit minor offenses will spend upwards of a decade in jail

It's usually one of two things: it's either a power/innocence thing, or their brain is wired wrong. In both cases you don't understand it because you're a normal person lol
Most predators have been victims themselves and instead of getting help for their trauma, they become predators as well and pass on their trauma to new victims. It's both sad and disgusting.

That “I’ll date the mom to get to kid” part hit hard. I I know someone who had that exact thing happen to them. They tried to get the police involved but the mom spilled that they were turning him in and he ran. Ended up having given them all fake info about himself so they didn’t know anything about him. This was something he probably did all the time

He desperately tried getting her outside before he went in. He was just going to show up and grab her just like that. If she was an actual child I don't doubt that she would have been a missing person overnight. His whole plan, if not recorded and televised on TCAP, would have pretty much insured he had never been caught. If he got a hold of the girls phone or computer he could further erase evidence from him ever being in contact with her. And living 5 hours away, there'd be no reason to suspect him

Yikes… like 10 years ago I made a joke on FB about how the back of an outdoorsman’s car and a serial killer are very similar after I took a pic of my jeep and what I always carried around: a tarp, duct tape, rope, a hatchet, and a few other things like tow straps, a blanket, and other survival gear. I often am in the outdoors and camping so I like to have my 72 hour kit and survival gear on me which has come in handy a bunch over the years. Also do video production for a living and with my CZcams channels so I’d have video equipment frequently. Big difference is I’m not driving 5 hours to meet up with children I’ve been inappropriately talking to online. This dude is DANGEROUS!

I had an idiot friend back when i was in my early 20s. he was just barely 21 and met a girl at a bar who said she was 19 but was in fact 15 or 16 (its been many years, i cannot remember. Also this should have been the first red flag bcuz they were in a bar but no one thought of that). They of course became partners and so on all while she was lying to him for literally 6-9 months. Then her parents found out and saw she was lying to him and this is where it gets crazy.
The parents call him and tell him. Literally say "hey so we see she was lying to you and it even looks like she had a fake ID so we dont want to get you in trouble as this was obviously not on purpose and you didnt know." etc etc like literally were telling him, look we understand you were lied to and you werent trying to do anything wrong but what you were doing WAS WRONG. So you need to cut ties immediately, its over. So he does... for about 2 weeks then he starts talking to her again. Her parents obviously keeping a much tighter grip on her socials finds out and tell him basically bro enough, if you do this again ur done. We have photos and texts and we will press charges. Before it was not your fault, you didnt know but now you know and anything you do now is entirely on you. This is when i stopped being friends with him bcuz at this point i was like bro no. Then i was just a coworker that heard about it.
He didnt talk to her again... for 3 about months then he started talking to her again on her 17th birthday if i remember correctly. He was arrested and got 5 years in jail. He was arrested at our job too which was crazy and he tried to blame everyone but himself.
I have to give it to those parents but like i wouldnt have been quite as forgiving. I would have told him the first time bcuz he was being lied too and was basically entrapped by their daughter... but after he was told and went back? shoot him.
also I heard the daughter killed a guy while drunk driving at 19 but Im not sure I believe the accounts bcuz it was from a coworker that said he knew her name and that same name that kindof looked like her was in the news for that but its like a "i heard it from someone who heard it from someone else." type of thing so i have no more details on that bcuz im not even sure i really believe it myself.
What the actual F!? Guy had a WHOLE kill kit, cp, and a crazy amount of weapons AND he's a cop and served no jail time!! Holy moly I can't wrap my brains around this whole situation...
How the system works on jail time just makes me mad n blows my mind all the time

I think every single parent needs to watch this! THIS is why you don’t have your kids around romantic partners for a VERY long time and never move them in! 😭
Also teach your children online safety and have open and honest communication with them, please 😢 I have a 3 year old daughter and another on the way, and this world terrifies me
The scariest thing about this is that the police are trusted people who kids might go to for safety. He's the kind of guy that makes you question every adult around you, so do a childhood SA survivor a favour:
If your kid says someone hurt them, don't ask them if they're saying this to gain something, just encourage them to tell you what happened, and them take them to the police. It'll save them an adulthood of confusion and PTSD attacks
