Dude I'm 20 and I feel weird when I watch my brothers kids who are 11 and 12 and I have to take them to different activities because people always give me weird looks. Didn't say to let him go. He denied the prosecutor request for no bail. He kept the $1M bail. That's effectively no bail for the common man.
Last time they tried that, the show got cancelled.

The fact you can reoffend and get only 5 years only because there’s no victim. What’s the purpose of doing prevention at that point when they’ll get out and possibly destroy multiple people’s lives
That's not what was done/said. The DA wanted him to have no bail while waiting in jail after being arrested, the judge disagreed because there was no actual victim in that instance, but his bail was still 1.1 million dollars which he obviously couldn't post (and it says he was in jail for a year and a half before he was sentenced to the 5 years in prison - because he couldn't post that bail). The 5 year sentence is based on the state's laws for punishment of his crimes, whichever state he is in. That had absolutely nothing to do with there being "no victim."

I feel like you're misunderstanding. The judge chose not to deny the bond because that's what the state law dictated, he did however set the bond so high that he never would have been able to pay it. That judge didn't want him out on the streets and worked within the system to do what they could. If you're upset with the low sentence (understandable) then that blame falls on the system.
"There COULD have been a victim" is a mouth-breather's interpretation of the law. There "COULD have been a victim" of every person, every moment, of every day.

There are laws against "attempting" to commit crimes but of course, the punishment would have to be lesser than a successful crime would be, in any fair system.

The judge said there wasn't an actual victim (which is true, it was a sting operation), so he gave the guy bail.... A $1.1 million dollar bail. Uhm, doesn't sound like the judge just thought "nah, he ain't a threat" cuz who the hell gonna post THAT bail?? It says the old dude never could obviously and was still in jail for a year and a half until his trial then to prison.

I’m 22 and I tutor K-12, which means sometimes I work with high school kids, and there’s never a single moment I’m not aware of how young they are. They are 6 years younger than me and they’re little tiny babies. Not in a bad way, just in a “I’ve grown up so much that I can no longer relate to you” way. I watch law/court videos and i guess its really hard for a Judge to set without bond unless it falls under a specific charge/crime. Even if a Judge wants to, they can't or else it can be a violation of rights or something like that, but thats why bail is set SO high so its the best they are allowed to do to try and keep them in.
I watched a video of a guy with a case of breaking probation similar to this guy(same topic) and the lawyer explained this is why you tend to see really huge bails vs just not giving the option to bail out, that the Judge can fully agree that they don't deserve a chance to bail but legally they can't with certain situations
