😂😂😂 my son was on the diagnostic cusp, so needed 3 rounds of testing. Officially, he’s not & he’s definitely had this convo before, but he does have a lot of ASD symptoms too. However, we have interns at work with autism diagnoses who have much bigger barriers to professional work, and it’s clear that my son’s symptoms are pretty minor vs these young people’s. It’s especially exciting to see the people with limited inclination to speak who are able to work professionally in a field they love.
I've been tested too. I'm definitely not Autistic.

@@montananerd8244 Yeah, lots of people who aren't on the autism spectrum still have traits that are associated with autism. I'm one of those people. I'm dangling off of the very edge of the autism spectrum, outside of it. Like, big spoons taste too much like spoon, metallic noises hurt me physically, I want to wear the same clothes every day(don't worry, I'm not gross... I have 5 pairs of these exact pants), and I could probably drop little factoids about somewhere around 500 dog breeds, among other things... But after getting tested the verdict was ADD with autistic tendencies.
@@KattReen OMG, same! I was forced to get a diagnosis at school (long story, lol), but it turns out that I'm not autistic. I never thought I was, nobody but my teacher thought I was, not that there's anything wrong with it. I just have OCD and trouble focusing on some aspects of school. But people who aren't specialists are quick to declare "you are either autistic or have ADHD!"

Until now I never had a reason to dislike Lizzo but the way she went after Nick because he (admittedly) has a bad grasp of historical dates felt petty and mean-spirited. And what an ironic situation coming from someone who has publicly railed against bullying. Practice what you preach, Lizzo.

It's one thing to laugh and play along with a joke. It's another to mock and bash on people. And in my opinion, if you don't know where the line is, you shouldn't be participating. Jokes can turn into bullying very quickly. Especially online.

It's crazy to me people only just realized recently she's fake. I’m autistic, Nick isn’t autistic he’s just unique and wonderful I love him. It was hilarious that he didn’t know some of the history. People need to grow up. I love Matteo and Nick people need to sod off and see and hear them for what they are, which is hilarious.

So I've spent the last decade working as a historical film writer (and I'm gay) & I'd like to note we're a rare breed. And it's no shade against Nick, I found him to be so funny & charming & THAT clip will do more for people to wanna research than for people to pass judgment, who they themselves don't know about history. Granted, history is a LOT of information & we live in a fast paced world. Lizzo's judgement should be saved for when the judge judges her.

Facebook and CZcams university taught me…Anyone who is slightly awkward = autistic. Slightly distracted or disorganized = ADHD. Slightly disappointed or sad = depressed. Slightly worried = anxious. So much to learn! .
Having an autistic brother, no its not just "slightly awkward", its so much harder for him to function in almost any social or public interraction, people like to slap on labels to be "different", but someone being awkward is not enough.
@@mrmr4622as someone who is ASD/ADHD, even a small 5 minute conversation has to be planned and rehearsed ahead of time unless it has been already worked into my routine. ADHD executive dysfunction combined with ASD hyper focus on routines and schedules is like being stuck and knowing why you are stuck but need help stimulating and task initiating/switching if you are not on meds. (For the ADHD)
As someone who has all of the above (comorbidity's a bitch), it gets really frustrating.
Especially because folks like myself who don't outwardly present symptoms, or who are able to mask (masking in this context means able to pass as neurotypical, basically), constantly get called out for 'faking'. It sucks.
People are WAY too comfortable armchair diagnosing complete strangers over the internet. Even with friends or family you have to be careful. Unsolicited medical advice is rude and invasive.
Edit: I am *only* referring to folks trying to diagnose other people here. I am a strong supporter of self-diagnosis, and always will be.
@@Totally_Glitched Like you, I've been lucky enough to get evaluated and diagnosed... and I know there are people who misdiagnose themselves (or accept the opinion of nonprofessionals) which is not reliable. I've also learned to remind myself that not everybody has the same access to medical resources as you or me. There may be people with more access than they realize... but some people legitimately do not have the option of being evaluated for something like autism or ADHD, and have to do the best they can with the information they have.
A professional evaluation is ALWAYS best but not everybody is as lucky as we were to have that

I am also autistic and agree that it is hard to live with sometimes. We are not slightly awkward, we are struggling immensely but the internet tends to slap diagnoses on people who are actually just slightly awkward.

Honestly, I think you guys handled the situation perfectly, especially Nick! That response video had so much humility and grace, in stark contrast to Lizzo's gutter discourse - it was so rude to try to make an example of you before she went on a rant that... wasn't wrong, but also had basically nothing to do with you. I know it already blew up before she got there, but she was definitely trying to send more hate your way, as well as being super shady by calling out the fact that the original video was deleted, as if people are endlessly obliged to welcome a toxic mob with open arms 🙄
I didn't read all the comments because I'm never gonna reinstall tiktok lmao, but I'm sure that pitch-perfect chill response earned you some new fans! So many people attach a lot of shame to the idea that they're ignorant about something, and that gets in the way of both learning whatever they need to learn to fill those gaps, as well as just reacting empathetically when they notice gaps in someone else's knowledge. I wish more people were just open to learning new stuff with zero defensiveness!

Nick, don’t worry about Lizzo's opinion. You never stop learning in life. For example, I was visiting Key West FL from Australia when I saw a sign educating me that WWII went from Dec 1941 to May 1945. Silly me used to think it started in Sep 1939. I’m so grateful to be corrected that it couldn’t start until the USA came to the party 🙄🤣.

As a teacher- we taught those things. You were talking. But almost every teacher is someone who had "chatty" written in the comments section of their report card, so. Joking about being failed by the education system is fine I guess but I'm just here drinking coffee, trying to be ready to teach kids in an hour. It's a lot.
Also, I'm a special education teacher. People- don't diagnose people online. Just don't. And I don't get autism vibes from Nick. So stop.
I'm sure when people criticize the education system, they refer to the system as a whole rather than the teachers. I'm sure all teachers are passionate about their work and genuinely try to uplift their students, but there's only so much a teacher can do when the pedagogy itself is flawed

This comment feels so.....weird. as someone who has a lot of friends with auditory processing issues/ learning disabilities. They tried to listen, they really did, they didn't talk. It's weird to see a teacher blame the students for not learning, some teachers are just very poor at their job.
I loved math until my algebra 2 teacher was literally the worst teacher I ever had and it made me hate math. It wasn't because I was talking during class it was because he was terrible at explaining math and taught through brute-forcing homework

I came to the comments section expecting to see some celebrity feud throw downs and to my abject horror there were not only no celebrity fight invitations, there were no comments PERIOD. So I guess it's up to ME to get these bitches some buzz.
Fifteen minutes isn't enough for this PodCast. It's so good and ya'lls repartee is so refulgent that Beyonce's internet demands at least 30 minutes of your bickering and buffoonery. Nick's fashion sense is a questionable highlight. Matteo could wear a wig every time he does Liza. Monet Sexchange could make a cameo appearance; she's open minded. You could even take questions from the audience. Questions such as: What are your biggest childhood traumas? Where is some place you've always wanted to travel to but have not yet had the pleasure? What's happening with Kylie Minogue, and how does that affect you? How should we interpret the properties of the most distant known Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies, particularly given what we know about their properties in respect to the ionization state of the intergalactic medium? Is Matteo really a Power Bottom?
As for a feud, start some drama with Billy Eichner. He's definitely got time and it would be pretty easy to spark.
