So no one's gonna admit that Huawei's selfie video dynamic range and stabilization is far better than the iPhone? Even though they are not using in house processing chips anymore they still managed to be this competitive. But yeah, Kirin processing is superior compared to snapdragon. I shoot my YT videos using only P40 btw.

Kirin is also more optimized (smooth) altough has lesser benchmark result because Huawei make theyself just like Apple.
@@KarlOnn Kirin never was the king of anything. If anything Kirin was in competition with the Exynos. Couldn't touch Qualcomm and Apple. And it also has by far the worse GPUs of all!

@@KarlOnn You think or you might even want to believe that was the case but it simply wasn't and I will tell you why. As basically everybody in the game except Apple uses license core design. You have the Cortex designs for the low and high performance cores and you have the Mali GPUs license design. Now ofc those are licenses much like Asus for example makes Nvidia cards. They buy licenses for those and mass produce them for profit. The thing with HiSilicon is that they couldn't work the design they basically put what they have and call it. While Qualcomm has the advantage of small changes. This gave the advantage over Kirin and ofc for GPU there is no comparison as Qualcomm uses Adreno GPU which are built in house and have origins from AMD's Radeon. Mali GPUs are really not all that great. They use small, low speed cores which get very hot and basically lower the speed even more. They are really not comparable to Apple. That's why even Samsung ditched them because they simply couldn't compete.

I really wanted to see the Mate 50 Pro prevail in this comparison.
People are mentioning software updates but let's get real this phone has taken a long long time to be released.
And I believe Apple came out with something they called the photonic engine which already works to perfection. I still don't want to buy into the Apple ecosystem. So I'll just keep watching your videos on my Huawei mate 20x and shooting my videos with my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. ✌️

the 40 pro has an awesome camera despite the age of the phone, i don't think it can hold up with newer phones like the p50 pro (okay i guess macro on the mate is better but still), honor magic 4 ultimate or the new xiaomi 12s ultra.
it's still a great camera though but you can see the limits of the smaller sensor.
actually these 2 smartphones both very expensive in Indian, I also don't choose these 2

Love your comparison videos. Huawei with its P20 pro is the company that started me on my journey of importing Chinese phones due to their amazing cameras. It's unfortunate to see what happened to them due to the unfair US sanctions. I currently own a Vivo X80 pro. Keep up the good work man!

i see noting wrong with huawei's ultrawide, they just have different color profiles that can be edited for personal preference but details are pretty similar

selfie photos and night-time videos are, could say, noticably better on iphone, night-time photos only somewhat better but they have a lot more lense flares. i hope there'll be a lot of optimizations to the mate.
i'd never buy an iphone because of their entirely anti-human business practises and restrictions, so i would pick mate any day over it in the end anyways.

The strange thing is that Huawei in the P50 Pro and Mate 50 Pro simply used the same and small 13MP sensor as in the selfie camera. Huawei once had ultra wide-angle cameras that were almost as good as the main camera.

Tbh I'm heavily disappointed by the Huawei,I never expected this. In human shots(which I prefer to take a lot) Huawei is making facial details bit off compared to iphone. Everything looks dark and not processed(missing a professional touch ) I think in future after a little more work this can be fixed(I do prefer the dress color and overall contrast from Huawei tho) funny part is they made it opposite on the rear camera,in rear cam Huawei is missing contrast and making most of the shots kinda flat. Feels like there is no life on those pictures. I'm hating hazy looks from Huawei. Huawei needs a huge update in order to fix their mistakes. As a ex Huawei fan boy I feel really bad. Selfie vid is the only area where I found an advantage. Thank you Han for clearing my doubts. Let's see how both of these will perform after full baked software.

I dont know why huawei give minor camera hardware upgrade on P50p and above...
in the huawei history, newer model always give major upgrade from before. but after testing my M40p and P50p, the result very similar. sometimes p50p better sometimes m40p better. so I stay with my M40p
and now its mate 50 pro has relased, but after comparing with iphone 14 pro in this video, I think iPhone 14 pro max is better than huawei...
This is a tough competition, but overall I still prefer Apple when it comes to photo and video quality. I am also disappointed when Mate 50 Pro decided to bring back the notch, on the other hand the iPhone introduced the dynamic island which is similar to the two punch holes from Huawei flagship devices. Nevertheless, all I can do is watch this comparison videos because I can't afford these overpriced smartphones! Thank you Han for giving us a chance to try these smartphones through your honest reviews! 😊

Dynamic island was released on Huawei first... Anyway the Huawei is more natural.
Huawei has better color, better zoom photo and daytime photo. But Iphone is more flexible than Huawei. It has better stability, better night photo, it captures more detail in most situation. Also the color in Iphone is more vibrant, As most people prefer photos that is social media ready. In terms of video, Iphone is the clear winner. So for me, I'll pick iphone because of its flexibility.
Huawei XMAGE has 3 styles on Mate 50 Pro camera app. The tech reviewer didn’t used it instead he use only the Xmage Original rather Xmage Vivid or Xmage Bright.
Huawei is bottlenecked by sensor size of 1/1.56", for first time apple has bigger sensor than Huawei counterpart, Huawei doesn't have enough leg for competing on back of software alone, no android has they all compete by having more powerful hardware.

Why no android? No Google services indeed, but you can install Android programs using alternative sources and also use emulation of Google services
