It will be better than it is now, but if your console is more than 2 years old then I recommend changing the thermal paste.
What are the types of screw in the bottom plate name?😊
It's absolutely ridiculous how difficult Sony have made it to get to the heatsink in the PS4 Pro.
They should design console with exposed heatsink.
You don't need to take out everything to get to the heatsink and clean it. If you want to deep clean your PS4 Pro without replacing the thermal paste, it's enough to remove the power supply: czcams.com/video/pud3G-7YsKY/video.html
@@cristianbulgaru939 still a horrible effort to get to the fins. Also voids warranty as stickers have to be removed. Heatsink fins should be accessible just by removing a top or side panel with no warranty concerns.
With this video it was easy
Very helpful my PS4 used to be so hot but now it’s cool watch your video from start to end
Great tutorial loved it laughed a bit but I gotta huge lesson in taking my time thanks so much
Dzięki Tobie właśnie naprawiłem swoje PS4 Pro. Nie chciało się włączyć, a wystarczyło rozebrać i wyczyścić i działa!
No to cieszę się, ze pomogłem :)
Thank you so much 🙌🏽🙌🏽 This was a very good video and now my PS4 isn’t sounding like an airport
"and as you can see"
😂
Im at 24 sec so far 1 and As you can see
I paused and im making some drinks for the mandem nice game innit
Watched your video. Watched you forget to instal the plate under the chip. laughed at you. did the same thing. >.<
outstanding tutorial - thank you so much! i even enjoyed the music!
Nice to hear that it helped you :)
@@TechOpsTV thanks! since i have you - on our second PS4 Pro, i'm 100% sure i did all the same steps, but i think i might have damaged the PSU. All i get now is one beep and it wont turn back on. what could cause this error? i'm sure i reinstalled all the ribbons/plugs etc.
Have you tried holding down the power button till it beeps twice and then release? Also check all connections again, maybe something isn't fully connected. You can also try to take PSU from the second one and check if it solve that problem.
Thank you for the video. I have been reluctant to open up my pro, and by watching your video I was able to clean it and put it back together. Now its running smoothly without any heating warnings.
Thank you
I love this flick. Helped med out! Thank’s, buddy :)
The back 5th screw on my PS4 pro is black, and it has a very strange shape, and I can't open it at all, I think it's also plastic and I kinda smoothened the insides from trying to unscrew it
I can’t wait to clean my PS4 pro so loud like a plane
Don't forget to change paste, cause sometimes fan and heatsink are clean but paste is dried out like stone
Cherry BLUE GAming same
@@TechOpsTV my PS4 is 6 years old. I never changed the paste.😂😂 Sounds like a hyper jet at full speed 😂😂😂😂
So it's definitely time to disassemble it. You will be surprised how hard that paste is now and how quiet your PS4 can be.
@@localguide5302 6 years old it came out in 2016
Great video!! Very informative 👍
Thanks so much for this guide
Thanks your video helped me a lot
Thank You! I watched it until U finished disassembling. I manage to assemble it by myself, but I did the same mistake, forgot to mount that metal plate 😁
Tnx, worked. Only think that you could delete, is there were you forgot to put smal metal plate...
Thanks for your help😊
I have like some metal thing that covers my fan? How do I take that off? Thanks this vid is helpful
Thank you very much! It is like a new..🙏🏻
Great video very helpful follow step by step you can’t mess up I really did not think I could take it completely apart and put it back together
Nice to hear that :) And you also saved some money that you'll have to pay for someone to do it.
Yh but im still not sure if I should do this. I feel like I will mess up and ruin my ps4
I didn't know that you can open the supply power too. Sony official video didn't show me that part.
Disassembling the power supply is more dangerous, so that's probably why they don't want you to disassemble it.
Amazing video many thanks
What kind T screws Driver do you use for powers supply
Would have been better if you'd flattened and distributed the thermal paste before putting back the heatsink. This way it might even have a worse heat transfer from the chip to the sink than before with the dried paste. The higher temperature just shows that the chip is running on a higher temperature than before.
Let's not forget how much harder he made the video for step by step viewers. There are easier ways to accurately clean the heatsink. I'll send you a link if I find one
Wow. I'ma really have to get deep into the system then. Thanks, hope to God I don't screw anything up later.
Thank you so much!!! I followed all the steps but I have 2 screws left… idk why lol but I’ll fix that later. My PS4 was so freaking loud but now it’s quiet!
Great to hear that it helped you
Seriously? Mine is not even old that much got the last of us part 2 edition and its loud AF when playing games such as kingdom hearts 3,its literally so alarmingly loud, I was thinking of opening it since warranty is expired anyways and change thernal paste but not sure would it really help?
@@kinakomonoI think you should definitely try it! My ps4 was so loud it would wake me up when I would take naps in the living room (my dad was on it 24/7 lol). But now it's pretty quiet! There was so much dust inside and in the fan... my ps4 really needed it hahaha. I played call of duty, GTA 5, and a few other games on it and there was a huge difference. You can get the supplies on Amazon! I spent like 10 dollars on ps4 screws and thermal paste.
@@editarlxs_1090 i did clean it a week or a bit more ago thoroughly, paste was so dry and it was really dusty and its barely 1 year old, I keep it on the open with a lot of space and it still managed to get dusty. Now it's running A LOT quiet to the point you cant hear it sometimes I wonder if the fan even runs lol, it does run but its really quiet now it was a big difference. Thermal paste was a huge problem but so was the dust.
@@kinakomono I’m so glad it worked!!!
A great video, thank you so much. How often do you recommend to change the thermal paste?
Every 1.5 - 2 years, but it also depends on how much you use the game console
@@TechOpsTV Thanks, I own it since 2017 never opened it for cleaning.
@@cordislucian2195 yeah too, and now m'y ps4 is very loud, gotta go clean it
Replaced my mem thermal pads & gpu/cpu thermal paste and it went from tornado (in some scenes last of us part 2) to wisper quite omg 🥶👍
Cool music and set up
Really you help me I like your vedio so much
Me with my 3 year old ps4 pro that has hasn’t been cleaned once
Hi there, how do you clean the old (stock) thermal paste and add in the new thermal paste? How much thermal paste should you add on the core?
You can use a paper towel or a lint-free cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean the core and heat sink. When it comes to applying the paste, be sure to use one that does not conduct electricity. Try to use a similar amount as in the video (a little less than the size of a pea). If you use a non-conductive paste, nothing bad will happen if you give it too much, but if you apply too little it can overheat.
Can you tell me what thermal paste and thermal pads to use? Thanks, ill sub you
@@tonystark559 you have a lot of choices of pads and paste to choose from. What I used for mine was the Thermal Grizzly Kyronaut thermal paste (its the best but its pricey) and the Thermal Grizzly Minus 8 Pads with 1mm thickness. Alternative cheaper solutions will be the Arctic MX-4, Noctua NT-H1 or Thermal grizzly Hydronaut for paste and GELID GP-EXTREME for pads. If you want the very best, Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (Liquid Metal). The paste I recommended are all non conductive so it is safe except for the Liquid Metal.
@@taytzuleong5584 ok I've already replaced the thermal pads and thermal paste. Wow, when I opened it who ever done this didn't even put the old thermal pads in the right. Also there was a lot of old thermal paste but it's all dried up lol. How often should I replace the thermal paste and pads ?
@@tonystark559 that's awesome! I would say it could last you a few years really. If you feel that your ps4 pro is getting the jet engine sound again, it is time
people keep aaying theres sounds like a plane... mine sounds like a jet engine and attack helicopter COMBINED
Thanks for the good video
I like these video ❤️😍 Go on
After watching the video, i did everything as you have shown. my ps Pro became so quiet, but dunno why, when I turn it on, on the Tv screen appears the Sega Mega Drive 16bit logo...
Thanks my brodaaaaaaa😂
can I use like a mini vacuum cleaner and put it away from the ps4 so just pulls a little and not break it?
My PS4 went to a Republic XF-84H to a Cessna Citation Longitude.
What is the back round music??? Also will you clean my PS4 pro
Thanks for help!
Do you need to detach the heat sink to clean it. Cant you just clean it with compressed air
I had to detach heatsink to change the thermal paste and get access to all dusty areas. For regular cleaning (e.g. monthly) using compressed air, it's not necessary but you won't get all dust out that way.
Good video love it
I hope your console is quieter now :)
I cleaned the heatsink and changed the thermal paste a few months back and it was so quite for like a month or so and now its back to what it was, i dont want to clean the beatsink again because i had to remove the apu to get to both sides and im not sure if i have to re apply the thermal paste
thermal paste is an absolute MUST! it helps keep the heatsink cool
which thermal paste did you use and will hy 510 work good in ps4
Mx4 is the best in the market
Great how am i gonna get a screw drive that small and where
Its good video but i dont have the screw next to hdmi i have only one screw
Directions unclear
heat paste in urethra
Hey just wanted to say my ps4 pro got even louder.. what should I do??
What screwdriver did you use to open up the entire back panel?
I believe he used Phillips. The x bit screwdriver
Is this the 70xx 71xx or 72xx model?
Zeby dostać się do radiatora trzeba odkręcić te śrubki. To sa Torxy?
Any chance you could explain the ribbon cable at 23:49 , do I push the tab down first before reconnecting it?
Open tab -> insert ribbon -> close tab (push the tab down)
@@TechOpsTV cheers bud, I'm always scared of breaking ribbon cables
So we only have to apply the thermal paste on the APU & not on the radiator? And don't we have to spread the paste after applying it?
Yes, on one side only and you can spread it, but it's not necessary (pressure will take care of that).
Do I have to add thermal paste ?
What kind of screw drivers do you need?
4 months late, T8 SECURITY/TORX screwdriver, dont get t9 bc even if they say it fits but u struggle, it doesnt
a Philips screwdriver any thats as small as the tip of T8 Security screwdriver
What game you had on the screen mine over heat on horizon zero dawn
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
How often do you need to clean your PS4 Pro? I bought mines last November, it was used but barley used.
It will be good to clean it every year to keep low temps and noise (and it will also extend life of components).
@@TechOpsTV How many times a year though? Once or twice a year? I'm thinking about cleaning mines next month.
Once a year is enough
@@owainkanaway8345 if you want to be extra careful you can clean it even 4 times a year
(Thats what my friend does, he is crazy)
TechOps TV I’ve had mine since 2017 and I’ve only cleaned the fans with alcohol should I clean it with compressed air
One problem after testing when i enter a game it start the ps4 go very loud and after it turn of
Excellent video, I followed it just be so, so very careful when disconnecting the power bank from the board, I pulled the whole thing off accidentally 😫
Hello! Is your PS4 Pro still alive ? When I changed thermal paste on my good old PS3, it would only work for 2 weeks so I'm scared that it might do the same for my PS4 Pro
Yes, it's still working very well (even after The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima).
ima just take this to a shop
What did you use to clean the power supply
Vacuum cleaner and brush, but don't disassemble psu if you're not sure what you doing. There can be dangerous voltage even after unplugging from mains!
I completley dessasembled my friends ps4 pro and cleaned it, new thermal paste and he still gets realy hot, the fan dos not go in drone mode when he gets so hot... weird. He has e generation 3, i have a generation 2 and i did the same thing, clean and new thermal paste and my ps4 pro runs alot cooler, his is so hot on the outside so yo can just touche it. i dont know what i can do anymore...
I hope ps console will be like too easy to remove part and clean soon like pc
What chemical should be used to cean the all plastic parts?
Dish soap or liquid soap. I do not recommend any stronger detergents because they can damage the plastic. But be sure to dry everything completely before reassembling.
Alcohol easy to dry
Sadly i do not trust myself enough to do this
Me neither bro
شكرا👍🙂
Hey! I don't have a t9 security screwdriver! Will a torx t8 security screwdriver work?? I have found online on many places that people recommend t8 other than the t9 !

Helpfull
So my ps4 just beeps once and turns off right after. Would you know why that is?
Unplug the cord from the back, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Another thing to try is holding down the power button till it beeps twice and then release. Last thing to try is to get some washers and put them under the APU clamp (TronicsFix show how to do it, search "PS4 On And Off DIY Fix" on youtube).
i still can't open my PS4 Pro as the clip is so difficult to unclip.
edit : after i watch where top clip of top cover is i able to open it (finally). and found out my 4Pro is much cleaner than i expected.
I only have artic sliver 5 thermal paste will it atleast do the job man?
Yes, you can use Arctic silver 5. It is less thermal conductive but definitely better than dried stock paste 😀
Thank you man, appreciate your work, im opening my ps4 pro tonight to clean it :)
You'll hear the difference :)
Turns out man i don't have arctic sliver 5, i got scammed and they gave me silicone paste is it still appliable ?
Is there any information on it that has the value of thermal conductivity?
i have a scratch screw at 6:16 and don't know what to do
I don’t have the warrantt stickers and there is no screws
Hey man, mi ps4 pro does not start after I cleaned it, what could it be?
A cleaning job gone wrong
Some ribbon not connected properly or that small psu cable.
Hi can I get away with not applying new thermal paste
If you don't disassemble the whole console, yes. However, after removing the heat sink from the APU, you MUST replace the paste with a new one (never put back the heat sink on old paste).
Is it necessary to remove the power supply?
For complete cleaning - yes.
To get access to that heatsink you have to remove main board, and after that you must put new thermal paste (never use the same paste if you remove the heat sink).
@@TechOpsTV do you have to replace thermal paste if you dont take out heatsink?
Do not spin fan other way it will break
I have my PS4 since 2013 and it been super loud and I cleaned it no bit of dust to be seen and it is still loud and says “PS4 too hot” do u think it might be thermal paste ??
Yes
@@noidea2338 yah it worked made it way quieter and it don’t over heat but when I turn it on it’s loud and when I play warzone it gets a small bit loud so I think it’s the fan

I can't open the top lid broo
What thermal paste should I get? Or is ARTIC MX-4 ok??
I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut but Arctic MX-4 will also be a good choice.
TechOps TV where can you buy thermal paste?
Local computer stores or online stores like nwegg or amazon
TechOps TV Aight, thanks lad!
Can you tell me that thermal paste and thermal pad to use? Thanks
I can recommend Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste (other nice choices are Cooler Master MasterGel Maker or Gelid GC Extreme). For thermal pads you should use 1mm thick Arctic Thermal Pad or Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8.

What is wrong with mine? It gets Hot and i opend the top part to se of the fan was dirty but it wasn't so what now?
You ever find out? Cleaned my fan and the thing under the fan after removing the battery stuff. Still gets crazy hot. Idk if I'm willing to do anymore than that and I can't afford to get a new console any time soon.
I cant open i5
Would a vacuum cleaner be a effective way to clean a ps4 pro?
Yes, but you should use it with some soft brush.
No! Vacuum cleaners create static which can kill electric devices. But oh well your comment is 8months old so I guess im too late lol.
why dislike this video
Good tutorial, really bad design by Sony doing it this complicated
Making it that hard to clean will make them brake faster because people doens't know how to clean or that you need to clean
I mean I least care about my PS4 now I clean it thanks apt for that. It helped but now my disc drive doesn’t read anything.
Does anybody Else have tiny pins in the little srews preventing them from Unsinn regular tools of am I just stupid ?
Yes. It's a security feature. You don't have the right bit then.
You telling me I gotta rip and tear the bloody motherboard just so I can access the goddamn heatsink?
They defenetly should have made it easier to clean it
Where to get thermal paste
