  • Why INFJs Feel And Sometimes Seems Unintelligent | When it comes to the complexities of the INFJ brain and their thoughts that come as a result, it can be difficult to gauge just how smart the INFJ personality type really is.
So, are INFJs smart or are INFJs unintelligent? Does it count if all of their smarts are only noticeable in their own minds?

No, I don't think I'm less intelligent but I wonder why other people aren't more intelligent. For example, far to many people never seem to learn from their mistakes, but will repeat them over and over hoping for a different outcome and sometimes not caring what the outcome will be even thoughit it has never had a good result. To me that is ridiculous.

@@marcp.1752 I think I was born with a slight speech impediment, so I trip over my tongue when I try to talk fast, which makes it even more frustrating trying to communicate with a fast talker, knowing they are missing the point, and I can't keep up with them verbally. This makes the thought/speech disconnect even more frustrating. People with a quick tongue throwing strawman arguments around, are the most irritating, while I try to sort out their fallacies.

@@prschuster Thing is often as INFJ, you do know, what the other person wants to say. I am not talking that fast, its just that the flow of thoughts is like a stream of constant 10-15 thoughts into parallel...and you switch thoughts like keys on a piano. Thing is, if ppl don't know you, they can't follow, because topics, thoughts come & go, back & fourth, and vice versa.

The reason why I am slow in explaining, is because I have to reorder my parallel thinking into slow linear speech. That takes time.

I am always second guessing my intelligence, because as I am gathering my thoughts people talk over me and the subject changes before I can offer my insights. And many people have labeled me as flaky for my philosophical "tangents". Quite often in social situations I don't even try and just kind of zone out and listen to the conversation if I feel like my input wouldn't be appreciated anyway. I related to everything in this video, thank you for making me feel a bit better about myself!

I am a Heyoka INFJ. I am a writer. But formulating my thoughts feels like walking in sand
Many times I meet people and they don’t view me as having things to say until people get to know me.
I actually HATE speaking in public so don’t push hard on the issue.
As people get to know me they will say things like “what is it about you? When I am with you we solve the problems of the universe?” Very few people know this about me because of how quiet I am. I would rather let other people talk

Definitely. I will rarely answer an important question on the spot, wanting to infuse newly gleaned info, and always reconsidering my own views. Impatient or controlling types have a variety of squirms that can't handle hearing: I need to give this More thought... they have an agenda in a hurry, and Can't understand mine-- even if we want the same outcome... I can question my own yes or no answers, Genuinely. So, when someone asks me one, expecting a solid, my 'hesitation' can suggest deceit-- while my brain cycled thru multiple dimensions of experience I couldn't possibly describe, to come up with the most Authentic yes or no answer. Meanwhile, I guess some think I am dumber than I speak, because it has so little to do with outside angsts. I certainly don't 'condense' information well for others to understand, but most can 'feel' when I'm 'holding back', and plenty don't trust a person who is. We Will all be Misunderstood, by most people, in Any room. The one thing that's helped me the most, is to Practice brevity in personal writing, Regularly. It's working with a wider 'audience', but will probably be a lifelong practice for me 😅. I've tried not caring what others think, but am still 'afflicted' sometimes. Everything we can accomplish alone, we can amplify-- by including a few 'others', who might also seem 'dumb' to us.

I think we, unlike most people, we know that there is so much more we "don't " know that we can't understand why we are considered so intelligent. I've been told "you are one of the smartest people I know " by a few people. It always makes me ponder why they would say such a thing. I could be wrong, but it may be we are always wondering, analyzing or contemplating over our experiences and interactions trying to understand, rationalize or conclude the truth or importance of our interactions.

I am infj and ambiverted, my best friend is Infj and introverted. She seems more analytical than me but that is only the impression you get. Like her big glasses, that make people think "she certainly reads a lot of books!" I also read a lot, and I listen to podcasts and audiobooks. But I don't look like the standard intellectual girl while she does. I look much more social, extroverted and fun compared to her, to people who do not know us well. This is just the IMPRESSION you get. It is superficial. In fact we are both the same type and not much different at all. She gets crazy when drunk. I dont drink. But I look like the party noodle 🤪 while she looks like nerd girl 🤓

Yeah, spot on. Most of my thinking is not in words, but in something like shapes and flows and their relationships and potentials all moving and interacting..... lol. Putting it into words is very difficult, especially on demand. Words are so slow and inadequate.
This video is more accurate about our processing than many - so many sound like they are written by someone who observes and looks down on it rather than understanding.

I believe that I am often a better communicator writing my thoughts. I like to find the right work and sequence of thought. Also I feel more comfortable using less mundane vocabulary when writing. I feel that may try to sound erudite when talking to someone if I use better vocabulary. I like to talk my time when having a conversation and pause often. Depends who I am speaking with...the person either respects the pause or jumps in thinking I am finished even when I am obviously not.

Pretty much spot on this video. But, I have overcome the speech part. I can pretty much talk about anything with decent speeds, without forgetting too many parts. I build a "written" document in my mind, and then read it. You need to have extra RAM for that, though.

We can feel unintelligent because we’re always working on being a jack-of-all-trades in some form or another. We desire to connect ALL of the dots on every topic, not just some. Because of that we tend to calculate things more slowly and methodically.

Being able to solve a problem and being able to explain (or the need to explain) the problem and how to solve it, are two completely different things.
Most of the time, it's not even worth explaining. As the audiance, usually do not know enough about a topic to understand the explaination.
