You convinced me to buy the Scharnhorst with this video. I'm pretty aggressive, often getting myself into trouble. Sometimes it pays off. I've seen this ship at the top of the leaderboard plenty of times, so I was close to buying it anyway. I was in a game with 3 of these on each team and only one failed to be at the top of the leaderboard. We'll see how it goes. Keep up the good work.

Yep, this isn’t a ship for just anyone. I’ve encountered a few who are probably thinking they’d made an unwise purchase. If you’re not very good, this ship will not take up the slack. From what I’ve seen, treat it as an up-armored heavy cruiser, and don’t sail in strait lines. Ever! Be aggressive, as Tacticangel demonstrates. Don’t remain focused on any target. Your guns turn and reload quick, allowing multiple target engagement. Your torpedoes punish those that get too close, or at least cause them to focus their attention on avoiding them.

Yes, though different, more advanced 11 inch guns.
One would assume Scharnhorst had the more advanced guns being a newer ship. I love the versatility of "Shiny Horse."
The problem with aggressive play is that it can lose you games. I tried to use this ship after getting it last night and playing this way doesn't pay off in the meta now or at least it never payed off for me. Seems better to play long, mid range spamming HE and then move in when the enemy ships have thinned out and use ap.
Got Sheer to lvl 11 plus I've received a duplicate Sims and I'm running Sheer with both Sims and Cunningham but i need Ciliax so bad for this boat and i have the engine upgrade instead of steering to be at full speed at all times since every time i turn i lose speed and aiming acquisition to reduce the spread and yes just like you said about playing aggressively because this is more of a hit and run boat than a sniper boat and Ciliax is man for the job.
I have yet to get a successful citadel hit on the Scharnhorst, it does seem to soak up punishment! Any news on the German battleships?
It happens to me regularly, but probably a lot less often than I deserve.
I can get 15+ k to its broadside with an Iowa but never citadeled it tho its possible trough the deck but that means extreme luck at extreme distance
The Scharnhorst has a special turtleback armor layout which makes it impossible to citadel this ship.
@@Hodgesxoxo It's a £45-50 ship so I guess Wargaming.net has to put the pay to win in it's favour. Imagine if the Sharnhurst was bad? Just think of the backlash

You need otto for that ship. Needs a lot of precision commander set ups
At the ranges I like to play at, precision isn't too important. I might be careful about trying to play too long range with the Scharnhorst just because plunging fire can negate your turtleback armor.

Yeah... there are a few shots--definitely not all of them--that would have been much better if taken with AP... but like you said... this was two years ago.

Do you mean extra Deutschmarks and Thaler? At the end of the campaign, you should be credited 7500 credits for each one.

Yeah, supposedly both Deutschmarks and Thaler are being traded in at the end of THIS campaign. Deutschmarks carry over from the last campaign to this one and you can buy stuff from the Admiralty, provided you have enough left over, to do so.
For 3 years of owning KMS Scharnhorst I never fire a single HE salvo! Kriegsmarine HE are the worst in the game! This is the strongest German Warship in the game (15 inch armour plate) master brawler!
