Will Derek Like it? DIY Bedliner for ViceGrip Garage

- This video is a highlight of the process of spraying in a DIY Bedliner from Upol Raptor. I've used this product many times, and actually made several videos for the UPOL company, which was very cool to be able to do. It's a strong, versitile product that anybody can spray at home, but it has some rules to follow, which I talk about in the video. Any catalyzed product needs proper PPE, and nobody wants to be unsafe, so I hammer on that a little. IT wa sreally cool to be a part it Derek Bieri'sworld with Vice Grip Garage and to be able to help out on one of his VGG giveaway vehicles!! we may or may not have signed it for somebody to find. :) happy watching! Thanks for subscribing to my channel!!

DIY doesn't always mean easy, but it ALWAYS means that you can actually do it yourself... this one happens to be actually easy!
Great video. Do you have one that shows "hard to get to areas"? Like inside of doors, areas next to a panel that you can't get the gun angle onto? My 32 3-widow was dipped. (was actually DIPPED. LOL) So all surfaces were bare metal. I've searched the "tube" and I've found NO one tackling this issue.
I got primer on everything I can get to, but there are places I can't get coverage. Inside the rockers, I used a long plastic tube with a 4-way nozzle on a rattle can (CAR-REP 2K). I ran it in, pushed the button and then drug it out, but it's messy and I can't be certain it's all covered. Fingers crossed, I guess.
I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
@@jefscoupe32 In my College Collision courses I show how to use Cavity Wax.... sounds like what you're talking about... long straw, you insert it and spray while you pull it out... I think this is the best you can do on blind panels like that. I'l lshare some of that as well, just finalizing the training modules. Thanks man!
@@jefscoupe32cheap bore scopes on Amazon or the like hope that helps for the conformation.
Got yourself another sub fella😊
Glad to find you again through Derek
Me Too! Derek's a great guy! The hardest working man in the biz!!!
Childhood and adulthood me have never been so happy, please keep the crossovers coming.
I've been watching you on TV since I was just a child I was so excited and happy to see you and Derek start working together I've been subscribed to his channel for a few years now and to see you walk in his shop was great
That's awesome! His channel is great! Hope you've subscribed here too... we got some neat stuff coming p and I'm ALL IN on this CZcams thing... I have incredible freedom here, to do what I think is best, not what a NETWORK thinks is best. Derek and guys like him have got it right! thanks for watching. :) KT
@@paintucation well thank you and yes I had to subscribe you deserve the support 100%
I pretty much came here to say this
Trucks! was one of my favorite shows, and one of the reasons were your paint segments. So glad you're here so we can learn more!
Thanks Ken!!! Lots more coming soon.
Nice job on that bedliner! I'll have to see if it can be applied over an existing fading spray in liner, just to freshen things up
Yea I thought I recognized you Trucks was a good show been a few years.
Your channel is going to get a lot more popular, so get ready Kevin. 🤠
Great job on the truck!
Man, I'm so ready!!! Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. :)
Wow, getting this old ford painted by you will make it even more special. Definitely a one of a kind for the person who wins it!
We hope so! Its cool to be a part of this truck!
Looks Great Kevin. As a chemist who used to formulate polyurethane and polyurea coatings, and has the lungs to show from it, and now sells millions of pounds of what you paint guys call 'hardener' (aka Aliphatic Isocyanate) Guys Please Please Please, read the warnings and listen to Kevin and wear a respirator with carbon filters when you roll and especially when you spray any Isocyanate containing paint or coating. And get some fresh air movement if you can during spraying. Or get out of there right after. Also think about your eyes. wear a full face if you can or some goggles. This stuff will react with your eyes as well. Long term, repeated exposure is the worst.
Dan, I'm a huge messenger of proper PPE!! Thanks for the affirmation on this, it's really really important! I've been able to have a 30+ year career because I'm proactive, and all of my formal training has fresh-air recommendations for prolonged exposure, and eye covering mandates as well. You've inspired me to do another video on proper mask fittment, and protection! Thanks for your note! KT
Turned out nice Kevin. Reminds me of Uncle Jesse's truck. lol
HOORAY for TETZ! So happy I ran across this channel! Happy to see you on the air again….
Kevin enjoyed seeing your and Derek do the painting on the Ford!👍🏼
First time on CZcams that someone mentions cleaning out the gun!
Good job!
DIYers need to understand that a 2 part system will harden IN their gun and ruin it forever. Acetone.
I have a 81 Suburban that I did this to for a full paint job. It's been a good 3 years and it's ok. I wanted something that a wind blown shopping cart wouldn't hurt.
Another great aspect of Raptor is that if you get some deep scratches in the bed you don't have to rip down and redo the entire bed. You can literally just go over the areas that need it and aside from you nobody will ever notice. Raptor is really popular in the 4x4 scene for keeping bar work looking fresh for this reason.
Does it make for good undercoating? Seems easy as hell to work with.
@@thJune I wouldn't get it on anything you potentially have to remove or work on later. But on the floor pan of a completely torn down vehicle, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Although I'm not sure how it reacts to heat like from an exhaust. I'm sure someone somewhere has tried it and has reported it on a forum somewhere. Might be worth looking into.

Love this product. I've done not only truck beds but bumpers boat decks and even thined it down and resurfaced a claw foot bathtub with it 5 years ago and still looks new
I’ve been doing spray on bedliners for 11 years. We use products from US linings it’s the same material as Rhino liner and LineX. Raptor is a great DIY product. We do use it on the bottom of trucks for chip guard Great video
It's super resilient!!! thanks for the affirmation! I really like thecoating.
Maybe those two extra quarts are for the fender wells. Bed bottom.
Looking forward to se more on your channel.
Been following you for years👍
More coming soon!!!!!!
Got two say I learned more about basic painting from you and Rick Bacon than all the others out there. Thanks.
Thanks Man!!! I'll pass that on to Rick!!
Kevin, I have to say, it's nice to see you making content. Between you and Rick Bacon I definitely learned more about doing paint jobs watching Muscle Car and Trucks than I did in college taking autobody refinishing at my local community college.
WOW! what a a kind thing to say! I'll pass it on to Rick, we stay in touch. I'm actually creating video-courses for tech-schools, and hope to have them available very soon! May they'll help our trade move foreward!
@@paintucation I actually talk to him on Facebook from time to time, he thanked me for asking how Veight is doing these days, a couple weeks ago.. Last I had really talked to him he had just had to have his big surgery. Rick actually lives just a couple hours from me.
I have an 85 Bronco II that we raptor lined the whole thing and tinted with grabber blue 3 years ago. The thing still looks great and is tough as nails now.
Just watched the vgg episode of you painting the truck. I have to say (not kissing butt), that every time I see content with you i know it will be entertaining and i will learn something. Like many people, my first exposure to you was through trucks!
You and Ryan were inspiration to just try things. I'm no painter, engine guy, or fabber but watching you though gave me confidence and tips on how to approach things. I've followed some of your work over the years and i am very happy to have found your channel. Thank you.
I've seen you here and there over the years, so glad to see you working with Derek!
Thats very cool to see a tintable spray bedliner and very cool to team up with VGG
I enjoyed your video Kevin. Been following your stuff since your Eastwood days and you’ve never steered me wrong about body work and paint.
Thanks man!!! Glad you're watching!
hopefully all of us from vgg comes on over and the channel explodes you are truly a master of your craft.
That is a cool product, and the old F100 is looking great!
Does look fantastic and white. Derek hasn't announced the color of his giveaway truck yet, but I see here it's white and it looks fantastic.
8:34 that looks sick Kevin!!! Awesome job!!
Always loved watching you on TV. Glad to have found you here! Subscribed.
That means alot!! I apprecviate you!
nice job . who ever gets this truck will be getting a real nice truck.
Very cool! Been wondering how the Raptor/Axalta bed liner products work. The tin table feature is sweet.
Saw this on VGG and Im a new fan of your work and will be following!
Glad to see you're still at it. Found you again from VGG I agree the Raptor liner is amazing. I did one in my first new truck years ago put aside a weekend for it and was amazed how little time it took and how well it held up. I just got a new Ram and once the weather breaks I'm doing another one in it
I did a couple bumpers with it and they have held up great. I put the Upol epoxy primer down first. Once my project is finished I am going to do the entire body in Raptor liner. It's an off road truck that'll see lots of bushes and branches. It's original paint is covered in scratches now. One of the great things about Raptor is how easy it is to touch up. They even make 2K spray cans.
Kevin glad to see you started a channel been watching you for years please keep the content coming
You guys brought that truck back to life nicely!
Great job Kevin as usual, good to see ya back on the Tubes!!!
Thanks Ian!!! We need to "Raptorize" one of your rigs sometime soon!!
Bodywork is where I am weak, and I am so grateful that Derek introduced me to you through the Ford build. Very excited to look through your videos and soak up all I can.
Aww, jeeze, am I ever glad to find your channel through Derek!! Im officially 11 eating a bowl of fruity pebbles with my dad watching power block again.(im 36🤣) Cant wait to binge the rest of the channel. Glad to see you are still doing awesome work😎🤙
I use this stuff all the time, doing my 05' wrangler in it now. I use the foam ear plugs in holes, bolt holes, etc to keep paint, primer or raptor from getting into them; works great.
Never thought about the foam earplugs!! Great idea! I'm taking it... LOL!
Man! Glad you’re doing CZcams!Trucks was a major contributor to my life long obsession with cars and trucks! Looking forward to seeing what’s next!
Absolutely awesome video! I can’t tell you how appreciative I am on the quality of the paint job and bed liner!! It’s going to look so good in my garage 👍🏼 Bring it home to daddy!
Nice. Going to do my F150 this summer.
Me and my dad used to watch you on Sundays. If that was you, you haven't aged a bit .
Kevin you are cool.
Always love learning from you.
Crystal clear and to the point, good stuff !
Here from VGG, Kevin you are a Paint Master!! Thank you for all the tips and Paintucation!
glad to hear you're putting out more content
Great job, very good educational show.
You and Derek work great together.
Hope to watch More. Of your Shows
I got to meet you once when I was a kid! Grew up watching you on the power block! I love your style of video here too. It’s not as mass produced as PB used to be. So glad to see you out there doing this stuff still!
Wow!! That looks sweet!!!❤🎉
Awesome, thanks Kevin!
Nice job Kevin, this is a good how to for many that will want to do this. Seems like the way to go for a beat up bed.
Thank you!!! It hides alot of wrinkles, but it also looks fantastic on a full custom with perfect panels.
Very cool thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
It's great to see your contribution to this truck extends into two parts of what makes Vice Grip Garage so watchable: a thorough explanation of the process shown and a healthy sense of humor. Y'all got the job done just right!
I grew up watching yourself, Stacey David, Jessi Combs on Poweblock. I was just a kid. Now to see ya working with Derek Bieri... man this is dope. Glad to see ya again sir! This takes me back.
Great little video and what a result!!
Excited to find your channel! Looking forward to much more content! Also, truck looks killer!!
Wow. That truck looks great! Fantastic job.
Beautiful as always Kevin!!
Kevin is freaking cool!! What a master at his trade.
Looks amazing.
Wow, a bedliner that looks like paint. That's awesome!!!
What a great update and build. Nice bed treatment Kevin. Looks like Wimbledon White which is awesome!!!
Good Eye!!! Yes, factory paint code, single stage paint.
Thank you Kevin. I love S/S on Vintage utility trucks and pre 1966 muscle cars!
I’m loving your new lone wolf content approach!
Be well my friend! Shawn
@@shawnmann9491 When everyone else lets you down.... you can always count on yourself!!! Thanks man.
You are going to crush it my friend! I can’t WAIT for spring to show up and start working on my 84 F150 Long bed 4x4. You have me FIRED up 😎🤣😂
Way cool that truck is looking good. Man thanks 👍👍🙂👍👍👏
That’s one of the coolest bedliner kits. Paint matching who’d a thunk it.

Awesome as always Kevin, Im sold going to buy my kit asap.
I've always liked paint matched bedliner. Thanks for sharing, Kevin.
From one Kevin to another, love to see it dude!
Thanks Buddy!!
I like you, Kevin. You are a good teacher, very engaging. Makes me want to watch you.
Thanks man!!! Subscribe and enjoy!!
Wow Kevin. me and my brothers have been doing odd stuff like bodywork and paint but what I've watch on you and Derek painting his truck has blown my mind. For the tape on the can to the clear coat add into the paint and now this bed liner. I just got some from Amazon.Again,WOW Thank you Thank you..SOOOOOOOO nice
Thanks for covering this kit, I am looking to get the bed of my truck redone and after I saw this on the episode I knew this was the way rather than redone in standard paint that scratches or black bedliners. Awesome VGG brought me over to your channel.
Kevin ur channel is great, you have a great way of teaching and giving us everyday garage mechanics/restorers the confidence and knowledge to get in there and give it a go. Always enjoyed watching TRUCKS! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of ur content. Take care
Hey Kevin thanks for the update bud.
Looks awesome! Great job!
My hats off to you on how flat you got that single stage to lay off the gun. That's the experience showing through.
Nice to see you again! Haven't seen you since power block ( i think). Love your energy and your natural teacher! Glad to subscribe and look forward to more!
I am going to be doing a paint job on my pickup sometime in the future. I’ve got my air compressor with condensation drops, a riser pipe, and a triple air filter/drier in line.
I was glad to see how you did this pickup, and the liner is a great idea too! I was looking at their colors yesterday and I think I can get pretty close to the color that I’m looking for on the exterior.
I’ll be watching your channel a lot more, thanks Kevin!
I love the look of that stuff!!
Awesome work Kevin! Thank you for assisting Derek with my NEXT truck ;)
Hi there!!. Thanks for sharing!!. Would not of it not. Great Job!!!.
Good one! Looks great Kevin
I watched you on Trucks on tv. You are a great artist. Thanks for your lessons.
Kevin, I painted my first car about 20 years ago after buying and studying your Paintucation DVD's! You're such a great resource, thanks for the help!
You are really a pro at both painting and teaching have been watching for years keep up the great work
So excited to see you doing the things. Long time fan.
Thats good stuff kevin. I did my 85 chevy k20
Didn't know you had a CZcams channel since PowerNation. I'm in!
What a great job guys thank you!
Crossovers keeps the details of the project more informative and obviously Derek don't have the time to cover every aspect. of the project.. Thank you!
Looks awesome.
I'm going to thank you for doing such a great job on my new truck " that I WILL be winning" 🤞
Awesome, I love how it turned out and it was pretty quick.
Kevin, it's been a long time, great to see you again!!!
