This video feels less like showing off interesting packages, and more like a tutorial on how to eat to Japanese food ... and now I'm hungry, thanks a lot! lol
Yes you can't show food packaging without eating the food!
@@MrsEats Your name says it all.
It's interesting tho to me. I actually know the onigiri packing, but other than that not yet.
Probably an important tutorial that they need to show on the plane.
Mrs. Eats out here making the best English-speaking Japanese content
Also your hair is cute!
Thank you 😋
Her English sounds more natural, too--Must be the Mr.'s influence.
That noodle package is like how they make salads in the US. Separate everything so the lettuce stays fresh and crispy. No one likes soggy lettuice.
Same in nordic countries. Salads, some pasta/noodle dishes and ready to eat dishes are like that.
In Eu too
Thata eberywhere
fr
The most amazing thing to me is: In Japan, the "open here" bits.... actually OPEN the package? German packaging hardly ever does that! :D
I love how the 7/11 offer hot water for instant noodles in Japan. I wish they offered that in Canada. However I find the meat skewers add up in price. Yoshinoya is a better value.
Yes hot water machine is so handy!
There is hot water. You just have to go to the tea/coffee making table
Yeah Canada doesn't really have much to offer, coming from a fellow Canadian.
@@whereswaldo4197 rip, in Taiwan when I have no time to eat at a restaurant, I would get already made meals warmed up in their microwave or hot water for soups
@@whereswaldo4197 One thing that I do appreciate (as a Canadian) is the fact that in my high school we have a vending machine for instant ramen with a hot water dispenser!!!
There is at least one brand of milk in the USA that has a similar extending straw for the individual cartons. I remember getting them for my children when they were younger.
I've seen the extendable straw before here and not too long ago, but I can't remember what brand.
Horizon chocolate milk boxes i luv those
horizon i had those all the time as a kid!! i thought that was more common i didnt know it was just them. ive never seen anything with the extendable straw AND bendy tho usually it's only bendy
@@doplop I've never heard of the horizon brand, but have seen the same straws a few times.
Yes these come with chipotle kids meals!
What great packaging designs!! You can see a lot of thought went into creating each for maximum enjoyment of all the food!
It really is!
3:55 A similar process is used to make XLB (Xiaolongbao) before cooking the dumplings are made with a very rich stock that has set like this into a jelly. But, once they are cooked all of that melts back to a liquid soup.
Just what I was thinking as well!
my gran makes a large batch of soup and then puts it in the fridge. it turns gelly like with the use of bones! Cool to see it used in packaging. tells me it's very healthy soup.
I love your content! It's so sweet and I get incredibly excited to see the trouble you're gonna get into! 💜
Thank you so much!!
Love your work. RIP Shinzo Abe. Prayers to your country.
Thank you! He did his best for our country!
It'll be interesting to see if this packaging can evolve further to reduce plastic. Thanks for an interesting video.
I remember using straws like that when I was little so they're atleast found in Australia as well :) The jelly soup is fantastic idea plus it stops other food items getting super soggy!
I came here to say the same thing. I remember these in the '90s.
@@neontownescape Yeeep! That's when I drank from them as well.
I absolutely love your channel and it just makes me want to hop on a plane to go back for a visit. I’m hoping next year is the year. Thank you for the fun videos!
i really loved how sushi was kept fresh using smart packaging
and the ice cream packaging is so thoughtful 😍
That jelly soup reminds me to a classic hungarian dish.
We call it kocsonya (コチョニャ). It's basicly a pork meat soup in that jelly state. And we eat it cold in that jelly state, with little vinegar on top, and it tasty.
I always eat out the meat and the jelly but don't realy like the ear and skin and other parts. xD
I wonder how good can be those japanese jelly soups in their cold state.
Interesting! Sounds tasty! I want to try!
Looking so good. Much appreciated
i love watching your videos mrs eats i get to learn more new things in japan so thank you for showing these amazing videos :)
Your Videos are Always a good pass time
Thanks to you and mr eats
Glad you like them!
@@MrsEats I love them
I love Japanese packaging! It's so well thought out. Why can't other countries be this innovative? I can't wait to go back to Japan!!!
very innovative packaging 👍🏻 i can't wait to be able to travel to Japan and try some of these out! ❤️
Please do! You will love them!!
2:04 The tchka-tchka sound you made for the mustard and the singsong for the mayo were too cute. Love watching your videos!
Cool, I have experienced 3 of these. Onigiri wrap, extending straw, and the soup separator! Very neet!
Your hair is sooooo cute!! and amazing content as always
It's so efficient, really amazing👍
I always learn new and amazing things from your channel!
Thanks lady! Love your channel. Love from NewJersey❤
Thanks so much!!
In Mexico they also sell onigiris at seven eleven , they have the same packaging , we also have the extendable straws in some juice boxes :D
I've started seeing the extendable straws here in the US from time to time since 2018 or so, though I have yet to see a bendy version.
RIP Shinzo Abe. I can't stop thinking about him, so tragic and sad...
And... how do they make these packagings? Magic...! 😁
Tyvm for the video. Hope you had a great day. Kancho~~~
Thank you! You too!
Those noodles look delicious!!
The great thing about that 'jellied soup' is that it also has the benefit of having a LOT of rich body due to the gelatin.
I’ve seen straws like that used more often. When I make soup, I make my own bone broth that becomes naturally gelatinous. It does make transporting the soup easier and safer in my lunch. I wonder if that wonton soup is full of natural gelatin or if they add gelatin to make it safer to transport?
Amazing,as always,Mrs.Eats!
We need to talk about Kewpie mayonnaise.
I purchased a few bottles (more like bags) of it recently, gave some to my mother, and it BLEW HER MIND!!!
It’s that good.
My question is:
WHY is it so good???
WHYYYY???
always love your videos both ❤
Thank you so much!
Hey Mrs Eats, Arigatou for the new video!! Lots of love ❤️
KanchooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooOooOoooooOOOOooOooooooo
Hope you enjoyed it!
Just found your channel! Love it!
Heartfelt condolences on the passing of
dear PM Abe. 🙏🏻❤️
Been waiting for you to cover combini onigiri wrapping. Might have made more about the plastic keeping to rice and seaweed separate until unwrapped though.
Mrs. Eats, just found your channel this morning I love all of it, you and Mr. Eats are so wonderful, very funny and silly, my wife is chinese and hopefully we can visit Japan some day, so much love to you from west Texas USA
There is a smoothie bar here in the United States, Texas, where are the straws are flavored and edible. Less waste. 😮❤
WOAH! Japan is honestly so cool T_T. My favourite was the soup one bcoz i've gotten burnt by hot soup before, and it was pretty bad, and since i would eat it later, it would already become cold and I would need to reheat it, so the jelly form makes it a lot more convenient! But the extendable straw has been around for quite a while in different countries, i've used them bfore too in my country!
She's so excited
I still remember my first egg salad sandwich from 7-11 Tokyo. Sooooo good !
Thank you.
I missed those so much I need to schedule a travel very soon
I wish that New Zealand Is like Japan. love the style and culture ❤
That Jelly soup is really, really clever.
Yes so cool right??
Girl, I'm just on the cold soup noodles and I'm over here salivating! Japanese food and cuisine is soooo much better than American food. I'm sick of hamburgers & chicken strips & spaghetti. I live in the Midwest, but I grew up in Alaska, where I was introduced to sushi at a young age, then we moved to Hawaii where I discovered many other delicious seafood based cuisines, a grocery store near our house sold this tako poke salad, it was one of the most decadently delicious things I've ever ate in my life, never found anything to compare with it in the states.
The soup jelly is usually a sign of a proper stock because gelatine comes from the bones of the meat (and is the reason why you shouldn't feed jelly to vegetarians/vegans).
There is vegan candy that basically replaces the sugar and is made withiut gelatine
Great video as always :) There is just something I am wondering about. How do many Japanese people know exactly how to open these packagings ? They are quite tricky to understand if no one shows you and the instructions are very discrete ...
7:35 I think Starbucks's instanr coffee from the grocery store used to have straws like that too but nowadays they are exchanged with paper straws I belive
Oooo you know a soup is good when it's so full of collagen it's gelatinous
I live in hawaii and we have one of those rolls. Just a few days ago, I rolled my own hand roll. It's a little tricky to get the plastic off the seaweed though.
Good idea... the ice cream ball to eats on the go...its be nice to see in Canada i never see that
First foolish thing I did once I landed in Japan was unwrapping onigiri without knowing how to open it in order 😂 it was so hard to open at that time 🤣
America has “share/keep” two-openings packages, separated noodles, and expanding straws but that onigiri and sushi packaging is amazing!!!
I live in Spain and there are also some juice boxes here that have that kind of straw. Very interesting I would say
It wasn't until seeing 7-Eleven in Japan videos that I found out that 7-Eleven was Japanese owned, but still had a American headquarters about 5 minutes drive from one of my former residences. Seeing the sign, in your video dud it say 7-Eleven & Holdings or something?
As for the solid soup, it's like putting something fatty in the refrigerator, it congeals, once reheated sufficiently (probably needs stirring a time or two) it liquifies again.
For the answer do I get a Fakkin shirt, Yellow, American size 3XL ;) ..
At the end, now that I watched the rest, it reminded me of something that needs to be invented, or marketed more.. orange juice in boxes, or maybe flexible bags. I'm all the time craving to have orange juice, but once you open the container it doesn't last as long as it would have sealed (unless I'm getting help and don't realize it); being diabetic I have to consider how often I indulge all that sweet.
The jelly soup looks like the filling from soup dumplings.😊
I would LOVE to be able to have sweet corn-flavored ice cream. That sounds DELIGHTFUL!
Mustard is a killer gurl haha 😂 but those cold noodles 🍜 look okay indeed lol 😂
I think that was the first time i have heard you say you don't like a food lol
tyvm for another great video :)
The jelly soup came from soup dumplings in China. They are called Xiaolongbao
The USA has something like gel soup. It's called portable soup. Recipe are online
I died laughing when she ate a clump of the mustard and the spice went up her nose LOL
In America we try to make things as hard as possible to open so that part of the contents ends up on the floor.
I really enjoy watching your awesome videos Mrs Eats. I just finished watching Paolo from Tokyo where he just released a video with almost the same content as this, his was more on fast food containers. Are you two in cahoots?
Saigo ichi is called a juice box in the USA it's common for children.
The juice boxes here in Denmark used To do the same thing
Great video
7:37
kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Off of the vid, I realized you have a Kishibe Rohan figurine! He's my favourite character of jojo's bizarre adventure DiU
The japanese packaging's are awesome just like your videos! Gureto work on this :D
When I bring noodle soup that my mom give me .. I usually freeze it or stick it in the fridge and because the broth is made from real bones.. it’s jelly like and thick .. it doesn’t spill.
I admit some of things are really smart. But it also feels like for all the steps you have to do it's nearly easier to just cook it fresh lol
Man everything is so cool
Hi Kane!! Hisashiburi!! It's so cool right! Which one would you try?? Now we are trying to find even more cool packaging haha! We are package hunters!!
@@MrsEats I wanna try the ramen one. It looks super cool and the little vent is awesome. Way better than regular cup noodles🤭
It's nice to see someone else out there who doesn't like cucumbers. I get a bad taste in my mouth just thinking about them.
I love the thought put behind the packaging....honestly, it's too good for American コンビニ。People here would have trouble following the directions.
As always, another awesome video!
Onigiri like this is found at most Asian grocery stores in Canada.
that jelly broth is a natural thing that happens in home made chicken broth
Funny and tasty as always. Okini!
I love sweet corn ice cream
Video request... I have seen a ton of videos on the vending machines in Japan. However nothing on who, when, how they are filled. Is there many companies? Or do the people who own the store they are in front of fill them?
I’ve seen extendable straws on juice boxes before in the US, but they never lock properly, and they don’t have the bendy part.
Idk if you intend to pronounce it "combi-nience" but that's what I hear and I think it's amazing as it blends the Japanese term and the English term so well
The first onigiri, we have that in our close by convenience store
Japan realy is one of the most advanced country’s in almost every way
R.I.P Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
Thank you so much for your kind word. We appreciate it.
Aint place to get political, but the guy was human garbage.
Delete the comment if ya want.
Yes what a sad day
Rest In Peace 😔
That soup "jelly" is just high collagen. Any bone broth will do that when refrigerated. We make a lot of our own broths at home. If it's not jelly in the fridge, you did it wrong. :)
I just ate onigiri last week and i was so confused but now i get it
no cucumber on your Hiyashi chuuka!? cray cray.
That straw is in the us too idk if anyone remembers the orange juice boxes
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! HOPE TO VISIT SOON! WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE MORE SKITS TOGETHER??? ITS THE COMEDY DUO WITH YOU TWO!!! THANKS AGAIN FOR AMAZING CONTENT!
Thank you! Very soon!
Most of them we have in Germany too. That's surprising!
This is why I’m moving to Japan with my cousin when we are older
I love onigiri, wish my local 7 eleven had some. 🙃
Here in germany we have Onigiri in packages like you have but the Nr 1 strap goes not so smooth and not really all the way around and the sides don't slide off because the plastik is pretty stiff between the seaweed and the rice so always like half of the seaweed or rice comes off. That's kinda sad because they are yummy!
Unbelievable plastic fantastic, really great that your noodles don't get soggy
and that packaging, turns into plastic soup before your very eyes.
Did you ever do a comparison between Japanese & American convince stores?
Our 711's here in Hawaii have the same foods. I'm sure it's better there in Japan though!
