- Building the face frame of our bathroom vanity. Pocket hole screws ended up splitting our hardwood red oak, so we used dowel joinery only on the face frame.

I also had trouble with the screws splitting the oak. We had the best luck lubing them with some paste wax but it was still dicey.
Yeah, seems like the hardwoods can be a bit of a challenge, especially with the larger screws. Pre-drilling with smaller screws can also be done on smaller pieces as we did sparingly, but didnât like the uncertainty so we kept it to a minimum.
love the vanity! do you have the plans? thanks for putting out such helpful videos
Thanks! Always glad to hear that theyâre helpful. Sorry to say that I donât have detailed plans. What I can give you is the rough dimensions of the front frame. The only plans that I worked off of was a graph paper drawing that I made with general dimensions. Below is the response that I gave to another recent request by @garrettp.5018 for dimensions if it would do you any good. I can answer any other specific questions that you might have.
Keep in mind that these measurements are only rough draft measurements and you have to adjust the measurements based on your own spacing for the inset gaps for the doors and drawers. My inset spacing is 1/8â.
End legs are 3â x 1 1/2â and 34â tall
(Thatâs excluding thickness of vanity top)
Middle legs are 3â x 1 1/2â and 13 1/2â tall
Bottom rails are 2 1/4â x 1 1/2â and 35 1/2â long
Bottom rails are 2 1/2â up off the floor
The shelf slats are 4â wide x 3/4â
The shelf opening is 8 1/4â high (including slats)
Shelf opening before installing slats is 9â
The drawer section opening is approximately 18â wide and 16â high. I made 3 drawers.
All the remaining frame pieces are 2 1/4â x 3/4â
The rails above and below the doors and drawers are 74â long (2 1/4â x 3/4â)
Door stiles are 16â tall (2 1/4â x 3/4â)
Door rails are 8 1/4â long (2 1/4â x 3/4â)
Middle stiles between doors and drawers are 16â
(2 1/4â x 3/4â)
Hopefully that gives you a ballpark figure for a starting point. Donât use these dimensions as exact. Draw your plans carefully.
What are the dimensions of the face frames? What are the leg thickness and the upper stile and lower stile dimensions? Thanks in advanced!

@@DIYBoomers I really appreciate it! You built the nicest vanity and very hepful!
Thanks! Always glad to hear that the videos are helpful.
Do you have the link to Part 1?
Yes, I didnât name it Part 1 in the title (which is a bit confusing), The title is âWorkspace Setup w/Toughbuilt C700 Sawhorse/Jobsite Table. It shows how we went about setting up a large work table to build the vanity since we donât have a large dedicated workbench. Iâve since built a smaller mobile workbench, but still not the size of the Toughbuilt C700 setup. Hereâs a link for that video.
