  • How to set up the Kreg Rip Cut Guide completely is the topic of this video. A previous video talked about buying the relatively inexpensive Kreg Rip Cut Guide as opposed to buying an expensive track saw kit, but this is more about the detailed setup.

Thanks for posting this, most appreciated! Once I set up my Kreg Rip Cut Guide I used it to cut down 6 interior doors which I was installing. Each of these doors needed to be cut down in size, from 2.5 to 3 inches. The Kreg guide was great for doing this. I'm not sure why some people are so negative about this Kreg guide, it only took me 5 minutes to set up, with absolutely no problems and the result was perfectly straight cuts. I purchased my Kreg Guide at Home Depot and on their site it has a 4.2 out of 5 rating. Thanks again for your video

You’re welcome! Yeah, it seems no matter what product is being reviewed, there’s always some negative feedback, some more than others. Although the Rip Cut Guide isn’t the heaviest of tools, it does a great job when used properly.

Mine was out of square, so I had to fiddle with it quite a bit to make the fence parallel to the blade.

Hopefully it’s working properly for you now.

You’re welcome. Yeah, for the price, you can hardly go wrong.

So I just followed your instructions and they are the best that I've seen on here so far, thanks! I was wondering if my circular saw should be lifting up a little once attached to the sled? I'm not able to get it completely flat

      You’re welcome!
The first thing that comes to mind is the reversible insert on the front of the sled. As I mentioned in the video, it is shipped with the angled side facing up so that the sled fits tight to saw bases that are angled up slightly on the front edge. If your saw base is completely flat on the leading edge and does not angle up at all, then the angled side of the insert would definitely lift the front edge of your saw up off of the sled a little bit.
If this is the problem, you can remove the insert, turn it over and reinstall it. The opposite side of the angled side is flat so that it will work with flat saw bases.
Off hand, the only other thing that I can think of is maybe your saw base has raised ribs on the bottom of the base. Hope that resolves it for you, let me know.

    Hey 👋

I have a brand new one I'll sell ya!.. Bought mine last week, spent an hour setting it up for my DeWalt 6.5 saw to cut a half inch sheet of Ply. I HATE this thing! Clamped on my 4 foot level and made a BETTER cut than this rip cut guide did.

Oh wow, that’s too bad. I guess it’s not for everyone. I’ve seen lots of videos where it seemed to work well.
We’ll have to see how it works when I begin the closet shelving project. I do know that I will be using a straight edge for cuts that are more than 24” cross cuts on full sheets of plywood.

Total junk. Tried it once and consequently threw it away... This Kreg cpmpany should be liquidated.

Oh wow. I know it’s not heavy duty, but many videos that I have seen make it seem functional if not abused. We’ll see how it works when I start an upcoming project of custom closet shelving.
