  • IMPORTANT NOTE
As mentioned in the comments, it's of the greatest importance that the thermistor is a NTC type. NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) means that the resistance decreases with rising temperature. If you would happen to mount a Positive Temperature Coefficient thermistor (PTC) it will cause your climate system to havoc.
This video shows how to get the CCM out of the car: • Remove / Replace Volvo...
If your Volvo V70/S80/S60 climate system has started to act wobbly in automatic mode, chances are that a damaged thermistor is the problem. You can replace it with any thermistor as long as it rates 10 kΩ @ 25°C. You’ll find it in any well managed electronics part store.
A thermistor is a resistor whose resistance varies with the surrounding temperature, and is the key component in any climate control system / thermostat. The thermistor is located behind the slats right above the right temperature knob, and is often damaged when trying to remove dust that tends to gather inside.

I took mine apart too. Sth was spilled inside it (prev owner). Cleaned with contact spray and worked excellently.
VERY IMPORTANT: disconnect battery before removing climate control module. The CAN bus of this module is connected to the SRS Airbag module too. Not disconnecting battery=> airbag light on, would not go away by itself.

So I disconnected just the negative terminal, and my SRS Airbag now stays on. Any ideas on how to reset it?

So pleased when I opened mine up, and found the Thermistor really was broken. Aircon's back working again. Thx for taking the trouble to post the video.

Thx for video. Usually 10k ntc is used to control the temperature of the batteries inside the laptop batteries. You can open the broken laptop battery and get this ntc from inside. Measure it before using

If this thermistor is broken will it effect the air conditioner ? Mine is fully charged and the compressor works but it’s not super cold ? Thanks for video.

I found the sensor (thermistor) at Digi-Key (www.digikey.com/), using the specs provided at the beginning of this video (10K ohms @ 25 deg. centigrade; same as 75 deg. fahrenheit). It works like a charm.

Did the repair, the lights all stay on...but the fan will only turn on for about a minute. Then fan stops blowing but all the lights are still on. Anyone have any ideas on what’s wrong?
The replacement wire did look thinner than the original, but the specifications said they match the one in the video
    Also thanks for the video

Hi, did you solve this? Mine fires up for a couple of seconds then stops. Lights all work correctly. I've already replaced the resistor in the fan. Next job is to take the ccm out and try cleaning the thermistor if it's intact!

Hi. Can you tell me article number of rotary encoder placed on the left side that regulates blowing strength? I have no idea which one is it, and Alps got hundrets of them, is it ec11j, ec11n or any other? I only know it has 9 pulses. I'll be thankfull for help.

What does "act wobbly" mean? The speed increases/descreases randomly? I have some issues with climate control - on hot days it'll stop working. I know it's not the gas as it's in the system.

Will it work with a simple wire bypass or will I neer to get another thermistor? Hard to find things open now with this pandemic. Thanks again as my s80 has a dead ccm currently

      Hello,
No, it will not work with a wire bypass. You'll need to find a replacement one. Best of luck!

Hello. for me the s80 is the problem if it is hot outside for example + 30C then it will catch itself and not cool the air conditioning. check the gas or the air conditioning compressor all right.
    could this be the problem?
where can you put what you wear into it?
    Thanks
