Thank you for watching! And thank you for all your comments, I love making videos for you all!
If you're new to Actualol, my name is Jon Purkis. My two passions are writing comedy and playing board games, so I decided to combine the two in this CZcams channel.
I make all my videos on my own, in my flat in London, UK, with the help of a diverse selection of wigs.

Great list Jon, have fun in Essen!
Thank you for the list. I've added Treasure Island and Railroads Ink to my Christmas wishlist. Another great video. :)
Recommended Video - Came to Watch - Impressed by Pleasant Presentation - Subbed - New Memeber!
Great video Jon, you've done it again and added even more games to my wishlist.
I was pretty sure about Treasure Island but this has confirmed that it will be perfect for us and I didn't know much about Shadows Amsterdam but again, perfect for my family with two kids who are 9 and 13.
I really like the idea of a crime solving game and I think that Chronicles of Crime would work well, as much as Detective appeals, I would have to play it solo, similarly the classic SH:CD.
I am going to try Spring Meadow to see if I like it as I mentioned in a previous comment.
Great list of games! Treasure Island looks like a really fun experience. Been waiting months to get my hands on Railroad Ink! Can't wait until it's released in the states.
Eagerly awaiting my KS copy of Chronicles of Crime. I can't way to get it to the table. I hope it lives up to my expectations.
Hurray, Pictomania is there. Thank you, very much.
What an amazing compilation.
I've watched a few other popular Essen previews and was happy to find nothing that interested me, giving my wallet a break and our game group some time to catch up with the ever-growing pile of unplayed but highly anticipated games.
Then I made the mistake of watching this video and now I have five or six must-buys. (*tilts head back, rages at sky*) DARN YOU, ACTUALOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!
Some cool games. Pictomania isn't out here until the end of November, but I have it on pre-order :)
Great video
All these games are on my wish list 😍😍
That was 14 minutes well spent.
Great video! thanks :)
Treasure island seems really cool! Never seen a whiteboard as the board before. Do you think it is also fun with 2 persons? I was surprised that it wasn't a 3+ persons game.
Don't forget to check out Bad Bones (Sit Down Games!) at Essen and tell us all about it.
Didn't hear about Pictomania. Might be a really good game to make my ESL students interact with each other! :D thanks
Indeed an intriguing list you have , I want to have most of this list on my shelves ! There were so many others titles :P Actually my friend visit Essen this year ,i envy him (and you P) so much :) he mention two titles of good looking games he didn't had time to play because there was sooo many games(ABOUT 800-1200 OR SO ! but those two looked very nice , the Heropath Dragon Roar which had so many pieces that the table was full 0_0 and also had transparent dices olala and the The Dutch East Indies deluxe editions with had actual ships pieces and real coins on table . can you make review for those?
I also would like to see a review for those and also may be co2 second chance?, I saw Heropath at Essen and was impressed :) especially by how much this game contains , they actually created it very nicely ... if I remember correctly and dices are just amazingly transparent...unfortunately i wasn't able to try the game for the shortage in time...still i prefer to see review before buying it :) or any other game :P
Western Legends sounds fun! Where else can you get it besides Essen??
Too many must buy on that list, you've opened my eyes to Treasure Island. Western Legends would be good if you can get the expansions at retail also.
Great as always! I believe you were using the evidence tokens to mark getting caught by the police in Shadows: Amsterdam, but I can forgive you.
😁
I've been pleasantly surprised by The River after hearing uninspiring things from others. It's simple, but very tightly balanced and plays impressively quickly. The only disappointment is the lack of Bruce Springsteen references...
Couldn't agree more. I was bit dismissive of it at first, but it grew on me.
The River stands out every time, and gets no love from bgg. But then again bgg is so hidden agenda.
Thank you
Golden Age for Board Games, lively time (:
I have gotten to play Wildlands. It was a lot of fun! Poor Gretchen got smoked both games.
Poor little Gretchen...
Fortunately for me wallet, i'm not tempted by any.
and i only bought Crokinole and Princess Jing there rofl :D
But you already have these games in front of you, why bother even going to essen:
What's the criteria for winning Western Legends? Looks intriguing!
It's the most points win. You get points from doing most things - robbing banks, winning duels, winning poker, selling gold etc.
@@actualol thanks!
For me, a board game that requires the use of an app on a mobile isn’t a real board game
Western legends looks great
Have fun in Germany and try a Currywurst if you have time for it.
I just had it! 😁 But I don't think it was particularly authentic.
