About luck, it is important to distinguish input randomness and output randomness. Input randomness is when something random happens before you get to do something about it, and then you get to act upon it as you wish (think, drawing a card at the beginning of your turn and choosing if you want to use it). Output randomness happens after you have a choice (think attacking a place and then rolling dice to see if it worked). Both have their place in games, but when it comes to certain things input randomness can feel a lot fairer because you feel like you are adapting and you get a say in how things turn out. You can still get bad luck, it can still be unfair, but at least you got to make the most of it. Output randomness can undermine strategy, because it leaves things up to chance in a place where you can’t control. This means that whilst it can work really well in some places (like in risk taking games where pushing your luck is the point) but in others it can be frustrating as you still loose even though you did everything as well as you could have. It is worth mentioning that it isn’t a matter of this type of luck is good and this one is bad, but rather it is important to be aware of how luck can affect a game differently depending on when and where it is used

Magic feeling with a few cards - mindbug. Memory Memoarr or trio are both great for the whole family. Tense, simple and small 2 player games Hanamikoji, district Noir, Jaipur.

All that, and not even a regular pack of playing cards, quite possibly the highest possible density due to sheer number of games that can be played with it, compounded with the notion you can create variants using it as a component to other games, all the size of a literal pack of playing cards.

I’m big on very small easy to learn games with huge depth. Give my Land Air and Sea or Imperius over some huge miniature heavy Euro any day.

I'm working on learning how to explain board game rules in Spanish because I live in Bogotá, Colombia and all of my board game groups are Spanish speakers. So far I'm pretty good at explaining Cockroach Poker, Cards Against Humanity, and Concept. Some of these games look great (and more importantly simple). 😅

I have a small backpack in my car full of small games, Hive Pocket, Sushi Go, and the perplext series, so when I go out to eat with friends or family, I have something to play with them.

For a cooperative game Tranquility may have a higher Fun Density than Burgle Bros.

Can I suggest "Best Print & Play Accessible Games" as a video idea? I'm new to the hobby, quickly realized how ridiculously pricy it can get and just now learned that some people/publishers share printable kits to DIY their Games for Playtest. It's perfect for learning to stop yourself before an impulse buy or to have some options if your low on money :) For example "Hive" was a really easy one to print and test out that way. PS: Thanks for the many videos that helped me get an amazing overview over the market/genres!

i disagree with boardgamearena cause the programming on it is trash like when your playing Sea Salt and Paper and your finger slips and you click the wrong card to take you cant fix it even thou irl that would never happen how hard is it to put the card back in the choice bracket and let me take the yellow crab that will let me grab the blue ship that will give me a extra turn and 3 more points???? waste of money on that site.
