Since you've had it for 3 years, how are the cushions holding up? Also, any squeaking on any of the movements?
How tall are you? Which other high priced chairs have you tried?
I just watched your reviews both on the Humanscale chair and this Steelcase. I'm trying to decide which one to pick. I'm 6ft1 and over 200pound, broke quite a few chairs and have back and neck problems because of my incorrect sitting postures. I want a chair that's both comfortable and can adjust to my sitting postures, but something i can also lock when i need to so i dont have to sit the wrong way all the time and let the chair support me. Which one would you recommend? Thank you!!!
I can't decide on... fabric, leather or 3d knit mesh.
I'll be purchasing one after deciding on that!
Thanks for the video
mpxz999 Call Steelcase and see if they have a showroom in your city. I live in New York and I just visited the one here. If that's not an option, then ask Steelcase to send you samples. Also, chances are there is a Steelcase dealer where you live. I opted to order my chair directly from Steelcase via their website.
Prepare to sweat if you buy a leather chair.
How easy is it to clean?
On hot days, does it feel not sweaty, not hot?
When rolling on hard floors, is it quiet?
How high, low can it go, for different tables: coffee table, drink-bars, etc?
Can go fairly low and is meant to match heights of office desks, it rolls quite enough. the material is cool breathing and easy to dust off and clean
Greg Zeng Not sure how the fabric feels on hot days because I'm still waiting on delivery; I ordered my chair today. What material are you considering? Leather or cloth? As for rolling on hard floors, you should opt for the soft wheels, as they are only a $15 upgrade.
How does this chair one compare to the Herman Miller Aeron, except the obvious difference in materials and price?
I have lower back problems and I'm looking for a chair that actively corrects my posture.
would you recommend the adjustable lumbar support?
Great review!
How do you feel about this chair compared to the Aeron?
Pretty sure this review is done by Idris Elba
I knew I liked Idris, but he's such an everyman, so relatable!! ;)
Thanks for the review!...Where is the headrest?
Also, does it come in different sizes?
I see other people commented that the sear get pretty hot. Do you feel that?
Is this worth the money? compare to Herman Miller Embody?
oh man, was I liking this review...then I saw that Arsenal badge ....
Footy aside, thanks for the review. Up The Reds!
Nice review, thank you.
Did you try out the Leap chair? Wondering how they compare.
Frag EightyFive I totally want to know how they compare too.
Do the armrests have any padding at all? They look like plastic. I have a problem with my current chair with my elbows getting sore after playing games for a while. My armrests are padded, but the quickly flatten out so my elbow feels like it's just resting on hard plastic.
Did you end up buying this chair or any other chair whit good armrests?
I didn't get this chair.. I ended up getting this one and I've been pretty happy with it: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NFZZZK2/
I was initially concerned about the armrests on this one too, but it's fine. Kind of a dense foam. They seemed like they would be too hard but I have no issues with them. I decided on something with a mesh back because I get hot easily.
It looks like a good chair but can you move the armrests back and forth?
The Steelcase Gesture has rubber armrests. They are not hard plastic, but they are not fully padded either. I would compare the material to a soft pencil eraser or the semi-soft dashboard on a modern vehicle.
It seems padded enough for me
Are you still using the same chair today?
#COYG! It would be good to get a comparison to the H.Miller Embody.
Thanks for the hands on review, starting to seriously eye the Gesture as my next chair. Had a question about the back recline system. I'm using a Steelcase Leap currently, and one of the things I found over time to not be that great was its so called Natural Glide System. Basically as you recline, the seat pan stays flat, but slides forward, with the intention being that it keeps your eyes level with the screen. The problem I've found is that because it's pulling my upper and lower torso apart, it ends up curving my spine into a slouched posture. Does the Gesture's reclining system also do this? From what I could see, it seems like the seat pan lifts slightly in relation to the recline, so maybe Steelcase went back to a more normal syncro-tilt reclining system?
Also, how loose can you make the back's reclining force? Because my computer doubles as my entertainment center, I tend to stay reclined for long periods of time, so having a chair that allows for a loose recline is pretty important. The Leap's can get completely loose to being useless.
Hi, Im looking forward into buying Steelcase Gesture chair, I've seen that you tried the Gesture chair, could you tell me how loose can you make the back's reclining force? I tried a Herman Miller Mirra 2 chair, its the first "Higer budget" office gchair I've sat on, and it was really really wow for me, loved its reclining system, made sitting efortless. As I could see from your reviews the Mirra 2 chair was your least favorite, that would mean Gesture is quite better. Also, I am thinking about skipping the Lumbar support option, it doesn't seem that necessary imo.
I am seriously split between this chair and the Leap, I keep going back and forth... I need an objective and comprehensive comparison. It's a lot of money. Any recommendations?
+QuantumBraced I've just ordered the Gesture. While I can't give much in the way of how it compares to the Leap, I can say that the reason I chose this over the Leap was down to the number of adjustments that can be made on the Gesture.
checkout this video I found.
Looks like Leap scores higher in seat and back comfort but Gesture on arms comfort.

Thanks for your video
I am considering buying this chair. Please give me a review after 5 years of use. Thanks
Hey Thunder E, how would you compare this to the Herman Miller Embody?
banggooooo Great question
Your video was stolen and reuploaded by a cash cow channel called nancy cooper. They even slapped their own watermark on it.
Do you know what color is it? I asked Steelcase to send me some samples but none of them look like the color in the video.
+Eric Lync Looks like Steelcut Trio color 2965/983 color 983, but hard to tell.

Are you still using it?
hello! wath is nam of this fabric?
Do you still use this chair? Have you compared it to the Embody or Leap chairs?
It was a loaner and I miss it everyday. Best chair I have sat on
I just got one for $839. Pricey, but if it lasts 10 years it's worth it.
How do you like it in 2021? :)
Do you know how this chair compares to the Steelcase Leap?
Might try that next. But I can tell you the Gesture is heavenly. Helped a lot with my back
Awesome! I've been having trouble with my back so I'm looking to make an investment in a chair that will help. I think the Gesture might be the one.
Ohh the Gesture is the chair. Ever since it left me my back has been crying for it
Eduardo Perez I was comparing the Steelcase Leap and Gesture in the New York showroom today. I chose the Leap, simply because I ready in an Amazon review that the Gesture's lumbar support isn't adjustable. I could have called the consultant at the showroom to confirm, but I just opted for the Leap, since it has a long history of being a fine chair. I'm super excited, as I wait for my chair to arrive.
+Robert Caldwell The Leap is an excellent chair as well and is an industry leader, but the Gesture is really the first chair that was built for technology. The Gesture actually has passive lumbar support, but you can add the lumbar support option if you wanted. Most people set the lumbar once and forget it, no matter if they change posture. Gesture adjusts the lumbar automatically.
Is the seat edge adjustable like on the Steelcase Leap or Herman Miller Embody?
On my decade old predecessor to this chair it is, I can tilt the seat up and down, and slide it forward or backwards about 5 inches.
+Barman1942 yes it is. you dont even need to stand up to adjust it. There is a knob on the right side that is super responsive and adjusts the seat depth. This chair supports the widest range of users, both large and small.

Thank you for producing this video. It was very helpful.
I hace the same chair in the same color on the office XD
I don't like the way seat slightly leans forward
hows the padding for the buttocks?
+SkyScrapperLegend very good
can you move up or down forearms stands independently each other?
Yes you can
this is the perfect chair but the price in INSANE :(
yeah it is so perfect. I miss it already
+MelchioDrum I used to think so too, but the fact is youll be replacing chairs every few years from the likes of Office Depot/ ect. This chair comes with a lifetime warranty, the fabric wears out long before the chair will.
FYI it looks like someone copied your review: czcams.com/video/n1amOtEzJoo/video.html
Best twenty dollaz I ever spent.
$1000 chair $50 desk
how tall are you?
this is also something i'd like to know, would be good to have reference
+Ponte Ryuurui (品天龍涙) 6ft 2inches
Booredatwork.com
cheers man, so i am only 1inch taller, you do look like you dwarf that chair so i am wondering how it would work for me
+Ponte Ryuurui (品天龍涙) it should fit just fine. My buddy who is 6ft6 bought it and absolutely loves the chair
Booredatwork.com awesome bro i really appreciate the feedback
Can anyone comment on the optional lumbar support? How different/comfortable is this from the original that does not have this feature? Thanks.
+Mark Miller I want to know this too im actually concerned the optional lumbar strap might be LESS comfortable in many sitting positions
+LordBattleSmurf Everyone I ask says it's better with it. I ended up ordering the chair with adjustable lumbar support last week so hopefully it'll arrive this week. I can let you know what I think. Also, I plan to do a full video review after using it for a month or two.
+Mark Miller Definitely reply here and let me know. I slouch and sit in weird positions like one leg under the other or even indian style sometimes and I worry the lumbar strap won't change much at the RIGHT height and position while in the wrong one it would be uncomfortable and i'd constantly be fiddling with it. I know when I sat in the Leap and had someone slide its lumbar strap up and down while I leaned back that I only remember it being uncomfortably firm or largely unnoticeable depending on the height. But then again I have never in my life used one for more than 30 minutes and perhaps my back is just straighter or different. It would definitely suck to order one without it and not be able to get it later though....
+LordBattleSmurf, Just an FYI they have a 10% off sale going right now and it ends tomorrow (Feb 8). The code is SAVE10 as displayed on the top of the website here store.steelcase.com/seating/office-desk-chairs/gesture
To get the optional lumbar support you just need to call and speak w/ a representative. It's a $20 upgrade.
There are locations where you can try out the Gesture which is what I ended up doing.
For me, it was between the Herman Miller Mirra 2 and the Steelcase Gesture.
After trying both I found the Gesture to be more comfortable. I think if you sit for long periods of time upholstery is going to feel a bit better on your bum than mesh.
+Mark Miller Thanks I was/ probably will pick it up at Smart Furniture.com as I get a little better deal and they have 45 day returns and more options on the site including lumber and special elmo soft leather. I think I am going to go with Fabric just trying to decide if I should get the Lumbar strap. For some reason I have a feeling that it's going to be too much pressure and I won't like it even though two people told me I should get it just incase
that chair probably cost more than your whole computer setup
you should try and get a DXRACER chair
I will look into them
Damn, your master must be very rich to buy you one of these. I'm white and I don't have one.
