I have the Embody and I think it’s the best chair made. I had the Steelecase Series 1 chair but it hurt my tailbone after sitting in it for 3hrs. That’s why I gave it to my wife and bought me the Logitech Embody chair which is the most comfortable and innovative chair ever made. I think I will also get the Gesture at some point to try out.
It feels like the herman miller celle... the gesture is so much hype. I can't wait to do my comprehensive 1000 dollar plus chair review. I bought every chair you can think of.

He's right, $1k isn't too much for a chair that you'll appreciate for many years. I spent a grand on my Aeron in 2004, and it still looks and feels brand new. In 2011 I needed a 2nd office chair to be used in a different locale, so I went the cheap way and spend a still-sizable $300 on a True Innovations brand bonded leather chair from Office Depot. After a year of normal use, the wafer thin 'leather' started coming off in little bits & the hydraulics below also leak--no more height adjustment.
I have a Zody chair at work and it does much of what this one does and has the added benefit of a moveable back support. I am grateful that my employer was able to afford the chair because it makes all the difference in the world.
I have this with the headrest and the additional adjustable lumbar support in royal blue .. it’s the same adjustable lumbar support as in the Steelcase leap, you just gotta ask for it ... and it’s not a big up charge! .. I researched so many both inexpensive and ridiculously expensive and found this one to be the best of them all as the movable arms are unmatched by any... Gesture has all the attributes of the others shown in this video ..and I looked at them all.. ..the human scale which i really liked and the Herman Miller aeron and embody.. their each nice btw but to me this was better.. and it weighs a hefty 70 pounds!!!! .. it’s built like a tank.. hands down it provides more functionality then the others.. it is expensive for sure as are the others but its the best chair for that money and why not.. it’s my health.. we buy iPhones for $1200 these days.. why not a chair .. To each his own.... I hope everyone finds comfort in working from home.. I highly recommend this chair to anyone .. go for it and get it with fabric but skip on the leather as the chair is warrantied for life for the frame and 12 years on everything else including the fabric material.. but if you choose leather then the leather itself will only be warrantied for 5 years.. screw that .. I’m happy! ..be well!!!
@@MarkR973 I've been debating between the Humanscale Freedom and this Gesture with headrest. I also like the Embody but with no headrest that's a deal breaker for me. I think I will pull the trigger on the Gesture.
@@rgrey let me know how you like it.... but I urge everyone to get the headrest, movable arms and adjustable lumbar support.. everything else is aesthetics after that.. your already spending a grand..
@@MarkR973 The Gesture doesn't have more functionality than all other chairs, when it lacks lumbar depth adjustment and a forward tilt feature. Funny enough these are both present on the far less expensive Haworth Zody chair. Having the most adjustable arms alone isn't good enough.
Just because the Gesture is your favourite pick out of all chairs, doesn't mean it's objectively the best.
Stop saying it's better built than other chairs, when it's had QC issues; chairs like the Aeron and Leap v2 thrive on the used market, unlike the Gesture.
Not everyone will like fabric chairs like Gesture, especially those who live in a warmer climate or have too much body heat.
@@rgrey Humanscale Freedom isn't compatible to the Gesture imo, it's headrest forces you to sit unnaturally.
just got this yesterday used. It's fantastic and I'm not afraid to actually *use* it.
Don't you feel that the seatpan overheats your body ? That's the reason why I didn't choose this chair : I tried and I instantly felt too hot because of this problem.
Did you buy the model with headrest?
@@baptistek1917 That's an issue with almost every foam chair and a good reason why mesh is very popular.
NYT is just so biased, they're actually wrong about the seat pan being the largest on the Gesture, the Embody actually has a bigger seat pan.
They don't mention that the Gesture lacks lumbar depth adjustment.
There's no forward tilt feature, meaning that those positions where there's no contact with the backrest are not ergonomic or healthy at all.

Can anyone comment on the optional lumbar support? How different/comfortable is this from the original that does not have this feature? Thanks.
I know this is a super late reply and all that. I cannot exactly comment on the version of the chair without the lumbar support. I have the Steelcase Gesture with headrest and adjustable lumbar support and I can tell you that it is very supportive and comfortable, definitely a great addition to a great chair.

@@MrMusk911 yes i already contacted them 1 month ago still waiting for the reply i heard it was an issue for tall people with this chair because of the natural curve on the back im 6"4'
It’s like the Steelcase leap.. it’s the same adjustable lumbar.. that’s all I can say I never sat in one without the lumbar support.. I have this chair w headrest and optional lumbar.. in fabric.. the one in the video is leather.. it’s amazing.. I ordered it w fabric cause the warranty is 12 years on all parts including the fabric and life on the frame.. the leather itself is only warrantied for 5 years so I passed on leather.. you won’t find a better chair. The arms are great .. I’d say to make sure you order it with movable arms.. and a headrest and the additional leap adjustable lumbar.. your good to go after that ..

Great chair, but the Leap v2 is much more ergonomic and practical for most Steelcase users.
Not this chair, but the best money I ever spent was on a good desk chair ... it's over 10-years-old still looks great and help relieved my back pain. Not available at OM or OD.
This chair is now $2k
this is what I can a perfect advertisement, rekt all other components
price isnt a factor if you are going to sit 1 hour a day. $ per hour is almost 0

I have all the chairs... the gesture, aeron,celle,humanscale world, liberty, etc. I bought most of them for like 10 bucks. I got my gesture for 20 bucks.

I have this chair and I can assure you that the armrests are indeed very comfortable
@@MrMusk911 Are the arm rest loose? I am used to a locked arm rest and maybe I worry that I have to adjust the arm rest every single time whenever I move around, bump the table, etc.
Eric E By no means are these armrests loose! They require a decent (but not overt) amount of pressure to reposition and the height adjustment of the armrests is done with a lever on the underside of each armrest.
The arms are literally the best thing about the Gesture.

And spot on about the chair.. it’s great.. better than the ones he also showed in the video.. Human Scale Freedom, HermN Miller Aeron and Herman Miller Embody.. compare them.. you’ll then agree.. hands down a better chair.. it weighs in at 70 friggin pounds too.. I have it .. w a headrest and adjustable lumbar ..

If I'm dropping a G on a chair might as well get it if it is useful, but if it is like car headrests where it is rarely ever used, then it would be nice to save a few bucks.
