      Best testers for chairs are chronic pain patients. They need them to be good. Like the other dude said: yeah, knowing the brand and the price makes you happy.
      You need people that know f all about chairs and just are in pain. Get people from the street. Seriously.

    I love the blind test, TY! For me, being able to put my feet flat on the floor WITH my back positioned all the way back in the chair is first priority.
    I would think that the best test would be to use it for 8-10 hours for atleast a week or two.
    May not be a practical test but an ideal one.

    Hey guys, thanks for doing this video! I would suggest you re-test all of these chairs again without a headrest.. i feel like chairs like Leap V2 which have bad headrests could maybe rise in the ranking. Also, since these are meant to be work chairs, i would also suggest you guys test out which chairs feel best when in a working posture rather than a relaxing posture.

    • @TheBlindGuys
      @TheBlindGuys  Před 2 lety +7

      Hey! Dan here - the guys tested the chairs in every position including relaxed mode. As for the headrests, some of the chairs come with it as the only option and after they tested some of the chairs with and without the headrest, all of them came to the conclusion that they love headrests even if they didn’t think so prior to testing!

    • @gsards
      @gsards Před 2 lety +6

      @@TheBlindGuys Hey Dan, fair enough! I was just interested to see how the Leap V2 would fare without the headrest against the rest of the chairs, because the headrest on that chair makes sitting in it really horrible. But sounds like you guys did that already so it's all good!

    aeron chair is the devil in disguise. it felt great when i first tested it out. that floaty feeling was something else. but long term, i dont find myself looking forward to sitting on it when i come home. i have to consciously think about my posture in it because i will constantly find my butt sliding forward so i have to constantly readjust myself. i also find it cutting my blood circulation off on my legs it did however fix my lower back discomfort. so i will keep this on the side if my back problems come back

    • @TheBlindGuys
      @TheBlindGuys  Před 2 lety +3

      Try getting a footrest and elevating your legs up. Should help with the bloodflow and it's how you should be sitting!

    As much as I need to replace my current chair because it's so ragged, I just couldn't beat it up like that; it's been a trooper. It's 10 years older than I am, has provided thousands of sitting hours for myself and the previous owner, and is actually fairly comfortable and encourages good posture. But it's falling apart. I ordered a Steelcase Series 2, but with options that basically doubled it's price (the argument being that even though it's almost as much as a base Gesture or Leap, those chairs with the same options also go up another $500, or even more).

Just got one brand new myself and I'm thinking even after removing the lumbar support from the back that the thickness of the padding between you and the back plastic just isn't enough. I can literally poke myself by putting a finger on either side of the chair. Any suggestions? I'm 5'8" like Ahnestly and around 220 lbs / 100kg

    I work from home and am in a chair lot. Kind of a weak back from a sports injury years ago. Besides just normal work. For my trading I do lean forward from time to time, but also like to lean back and chill. Looking at HM Embody, Haworth Fern, and Steelcase leap or gesture. What do you think for 5ft-8in 170lb guy with those requirements?

      Yong here. Although video didn't show it, I thought it was still good and actually mentioned while recording that I think this one is the Size T80. Would have been my fourth or fifth choice overall. Two reasons for this. First the headrest isn't as comfortable compared to the ones I picked. Second the seat feels slightly angled down where my knees feel lower than my hips (to be fair, others didn't really feel this so might be just my preference on chairs).

    Yong - I am about your size and am stuck between the aeron (with atlas head rest) and gesture with headrest. But I was curious, Is the gesture a "warm" chair? Really like the breathability of the mesh. Also, by chance, would any of the Blind Guys know how the seat foam holds up in the Gesture over time? Thanks in advance and thanks for the awesome vid

    • @TheBlindGuys
      @TheBlindGuys  Před 2 lety +1

      Yong here. Personally gesture was a better fit. Aeron was good but just doesn't fit my shoulders well though others may disagree. Both are good choices but I'm in favor of the gesture. In terms of his warm the chair is and how the seat foam holds up, I'm not sure since I haven't sat on it for a long period of time. I'll see if Dan has anything he wants to add.

      Yong here. Personally didn't think much of the headrest on the Haworth fern so I probably would go without it unless it's a relatively cheap addition but it's really a personal preference. For example, when I'm working, I don't really use the headrest so for an office chair, I don't think I need the headrest.

At the time, I didn't even know what I was purchasing and am only now realizing I may have copped a bargain on mine. I was also a bit surprised, but especially with Embody it's very important to be able to adjust the settings that suit the user. You can easily make it to be a very relax chair or a stiff uncomfortable task chair. Of course, the lack of headrest affects as well.

  • @grantanthonylawler9653

    I'm wondering what Yong would think of the Embody if it had a headrest (as atlas is currently making one). Although I have not sat in either, I really like the Herman Miller Embody, and I also really like the Steelcase Gesture. I would really appreciate it if Yong would comment which one he would like the best, and why he does, or doesn't like each of them. I am looking for the one that feels the highest quality, is comfiest for long sessions, something that raises high enough for my legs (I'm 6'2"), and I like being able to lean back in the chair for movies, and forward in the chair for college projects.
    PS: Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to make sure I asked all of the right questions.

      Yong here. Honestly both are great choices. Embody is really comfortable but just wished there is a headrest which is still in the works from another company Dan follows on his CZcams channel. Gesture was really comfortable during the recording and would recommend for anyone our height especially if you like a headrest on the chair. That being said, I have sat in both chairs for only a couple hours at most so I wouldn't know how it feels long term but do plan on getting the Embody in the future since my family isn't as tall as I am. Also, Dan says he has seen more negative feedback long term on the gesture than the embody. Would appreciate if you use our links to to buy one of these chairs and help our channel out 👍
