Coolest looking commuter bikes ever! All of my riding is city and suburban (and traffic here barely breaks 40 Mph anyway, LOL) And It's a Honda. Zippo lighter reliable (and almost as mechanically simple). 10/10 I love Rebels!
I've had 50 cc things for 15 years and always stuck a 70cc jug on em to make them more viable. Recently got a 09 rebel and it's fucking great! Plenty fast and powerful enough.. I compare it to a 2-2.5l car. I've had many and they're very similar speed wise. I've had 4cyl trucks that would barely get past 65mph and was always fine with that.
I agree with your big/small bike philosophy 100%;I have owned many big bikes and Harleys and a 250 Ninja is the best bike and only "keeper" I have. They are more nimble, can be off roaded successfully and return great fuel milage.I am looking for a rebel to customize.Who cares what anyone else thinks
The bike is a great commuter and shot bursts on the highway weren't too bad. But since you have a newer model I'm sure it performs better than this one did.
I have a 2008 Honda rebel 250. I traded a junk s10 for it. It is still a little sketchy to go 70-80 mph for long periods of time. They did fix the vibration issues cause my bike hardly vibrates. They did improve the turn signals as well. Surprisingly mine does great when I double with my girlfriend. It doesn't really feel like there's a loss of power. Overall I love the bike, I've had it for two months and put 2,500 miles on it.
+Triston Puckett Glad they fixed those issues with it. I still really enjoy the bike despite it's small issues. I've made it into a bobber at this point and plan on putting a video up of it soon. Thanks for watching!
I'm looking to buy my very first bike and actually have an opportunity to buy either Cherry low mileage 2005 Honda Rebel 250 or an equally nice 2007 Suzuki GZ250 Marauder. They are both priced the same and I'm really at an impasse as far as making a decision on which bike to buy. Can you give me your thoughts on which one I should go with?
Merci Moto-Jimbo - Excellent commentaire, je viens d'en trouver une à Québec. Je crains par contre de pas pouvoir faire de trèes grandes distances avec seulement 250cc mais bon, je vais voir cet automne.
This bike is a hoot , got a 87 been in the shop so I think they tweaked it cause if throttle hard after 60 it pick ups better then usual , every morning where I'm at seems to start with choke to warm her up , it gets drone after awhile but got used to it , surprise you didn't say it you hated the wheels they got inner tube and they don't handle with the bumps and cracks ,potholes ,sways in the concrete . Fun bike none the less
hey jimbo in 3 weks imma be getting a 1985 rebel250 with 11,370miles on it anything you would recommended changing or replacing 1st this will be my 1st motorcycle ?
Just do basics if they haven't been taken care of already. The rebel 250 has no oil filter so keep that oil changed regularly. I like changing mine every 1k miles. Make sure your tires are in good shape and always check pressure before riding. Like I said, just basics. Enjoy your new bike!
I have a 2016 Rebel 250. I also have a 2006 Sportster 1200L. I tried a Ninja 250 (the original Ninja 250, I think it was an '04 model) and it was HORRIBLE. The seat was too high, the handlebars felt like they were attached to the ends of the front axle, the pegs were about where the rear turn signals should be. It was miserably uncomfortable. Downright painful. And virtually unrideable in stop and go city traffic. It took a lot of effort to get my feet off those pegs. They were so far back my toes were pointed straight down. I almost dropped it a couple of times trying to get my feet off those awful pegs at a stop. Then you are sitting there at a light, all hunched over, all of your upper body weight on your wrists and shoulders, your neck bent back as far as it would go so you could see ahead. It felt like standing up looking up at the sky. The pain was unbearable. It was twitchy and hard to control at slow speeds. It felt so good to get rid of that abomination.
are you sure that was a ninja 250? I'm asking because that doesn't sound right to me. The footpegs should have been almost directly under your butt. The handles bars are a bit low but you shouldn't have been putting your weight on them if you were in the correct riding posiition. That sounds more like a pure bred sport bike by the way you describe it. The passenger foot pegs would be really far back and high like that though. Mine was always smooth and never felt twitchy. Not being a jerk, I promise, I just really wanna figure out what was up with what you had.

this i just my opinion of course but here was my experience. I'm 5'10'' and weight roughly 185lbs. The bike was very light and nimble but it just didn't have enough get up and go for me, for even a 250. The ninja 250 can rev really high and is more than highway capable in my opinion. If I had to choose a first bike I'd pick the ninja any day.

Agreed!
Thanks for the review! I recently bought a 1985 Honda Rebel 250 as my first bike. Its been a great starter bike so far!
They really are great bikes. Enjoy!

haha thanks!
From NYC
I bought me a 250cc 2014...the bike is great for commute and maybe one or two highway exits...I love it...

I'm a first time rider and my friend gifted me with this bike. It Has a broken ignition coil so I'm changing it out today. Pretty excited
Anibal Abad good luck with your repair and enjoy!

I like mine. Pro tip---- buy blue loctite and anytime a bolt or screw comes loose, apply blue loctite before tightening it down.
ozarkprepper1 I like them as well. On my second one 😁
Any good headlight you recommend? Mine is dull. Its a 1999.

You can do the long distances on the bike but I think it's wise to choose secondary roads and not highways.

It was an absolute bitch to get warmed up. It was very cold natured.

Air cooled not liquid cool so yeah cold starts sucks
I just got one for my first "big bike" to move up from a 125
Nice progression!
Lol same but I just got the 125cc Rebel. Wish I had a 250.. it's my 4th bike

Do you still have the stock seats moto-jimbo?
I can't remember to be completely honest. I may of given them to the lady that bought it but I can check.
Will this bike be good for someone that is 6'1 and weighs 160?
Put some forward controls on it and some bar risers and you should be ok. Might be cramped in stock form.
@@sumdawgtwigg im 6,0 and 160 its pretty comfy for a small bike. the stock seat could use an upgrade but it works!
use lock tight to keep the stuff tight so they don't come lose.
yes sir I do that on my current bikes.

Top speed?
I can't remember to be honest. Maybe like 70 if you pinned it on a flat road...maybe. Mine was old and had seen better days though.
+Moto - Jimbo Awesome thank you. Just looking for a beginner bike for myself. This helps a lot

Moto Jimbo crotch rockets like the Ninja 🥷 have a totally different power band compared to the Rebel. Live to ride ride to live. 🇺🇸
