I’ve seen a few Honda 250 bobbers and I don’t think the 250cc aspect matters. Even some of those 125 hardtails can look OK I think, isn’t always about the engine. My LS650 isn’t any bigger, OK it has a bigger engine and that dominates a bit more, but the silhouette isn’t bigger.
I’ve dumped the ape hangers and gone with the same handlebars as you’ve chosen, and changed the horn… the horn was because I had one lying around and a spanner in my hand. But I’m not spending much on it because I want it sold, just forward controls for the same reason as you, knees up with your ears. I am thinking via the engine mount and the frame (so one bolt through the frame on each side for the mounting plate), with bushes for the engine mount if I can get them easily enough- it does have bushes for the mount anyway but the LS650 isn’t a current UK model and this one is 1989 so parts may be a problem.

The handle bars are actually the original bars however Ive cut them down and welded them a tad, its not permanent but gives me an idea how the bike will look and feel.
Ive been playing around with the forward controls, I have an idea now what id like to do, Im currently mocking up some wooden prototype brackets to fit around the engine mount.
