Hence why they were so surprised that Aemond could fight whilst they were slacking. Their uncle was training hard, they were not, which must've quickened his growth during puberty an obviously genetics plays a big part too

Daemon is very abrasive (to put things mildly), but at this point in his life has learned that there's a time and a place, and has at least somewhat proven himself in battle. Aemond hasn't done any of that. His only real claim to glory is Vhagar, and we see later in the series that even that is a bit of a paper tiger.

Just sayin'!) All four of the kids attacked him and he only retaliated when struck(pushed by Rhaena, pushed her back. Punched by Baela, punched her back. Attacked by all four, knocked them off. Grabbed a rock, but when he sees Luke crying, he shows mercy and lowers it, only actually using it when Jace draws a knife on him.
