  • How to fix and replace the common leaky fuel filter housing on a 2010 Mercedes Benz Sprinter!
    Thanks a bunch for watching our new video!
    We are Sam & Gabi and we converted our first van back in 2016. We wanted to drive to a Lindy Hop dance camp in Sweden and to stay there for 5 weeks. We decided to buy a van, throw a mattress in the back and go. One thing led to another and we ended up doing a full van conversion, albeit very basic!
    We now travel in our 3rd camper van that we have converted and are very pleased to be able to share our journey with you and also to document it for ourselves for our own memories!

    Great Video, regarding the pain in the butt bolt I used 1/4 drive with extensions with a universal 5mm multi spline socket (which fits the torque bolt) with insulation tape wrapped around the joint of the swivel joint just once to take the floppiness out of it and it just seemed to find it's own way onto the bolt, it may of been luck but it may not of!!

    Good video man. Plenty of experience working on other makes but not the mercs, so this was helpful setting me up to do this on my glk. Cheers brother.

    Many thanks for the tips and Help. Thanks to you I got the tricky job done. I liked the tissue paper reminder. When working on the car I seem to spend longer looking for dropped bolts. Regarding getting the middle bolt out of the EGR cooler.. I used a 10inch extension which comes out beyond the end of cooler then added the 6 inch and rachet making it perfect length. This was the easiest part of the procedure. Extensions used were amtech 3pc 3/8Inch Drive Extension Bar Set Sizes: 6", 10" and 18". from Euro Car Parts

    Hi brother. Great video. Do we need to apply silicone on the rubber seal before putting it back in the position? Thanks

    Hi, Very good video, Many thanks for the tip with the paper.
    What torque settings. have you used? I saw in Haynes book for intake Manifold has 16NM, I couldn't find any more close torque settings.
    So decides to I tied in 3 steps: 5nm, 10Nm, 16NM.
    and I pulled out the thread on the bottom bolt inside the the filter housing :(.
    I have fixed the thread and tried again and the same story 5NM,10NM and then on 16NM I have pulled out thread on the top bolt inside the filter housing :(.
    Now I am afraid to try on 16NM. Only one left bolt left to fix but maybe something wrong with my tools.

      Thanks a lot. Tbh I don’t really tend to use torque settings, if in doubt I just do it up to FT…my own personal tightness gauge 😂 Joking apart, unless a bolt is critical (like a head gasket bolt or something) I do it up as tight as feels appropriate…just never too tight to strip either the bolt or the hole. Since the head is aluminum, the last thing you want to do it strip the hole thread.

    You will get to travel again soon.
    Are there any plans up north?
    We watched with interest the stages of your previous trip in Finland, Norway and Sweden👍🚐

    Some people get away without removing egr

    • @sprintervanconversions
      @sprintervanconversions  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeh, I only remove EGR cooler. The EGR is a bit more involved and only requires removal when replacing the inlet manifold

  • @3ltrchris
    @3ltrchris Před 2 měsíci

    You didn't show the faulty part.
    Saying there was a leak? And not saying what the leak was? Then Just somehow fixed by removing and reinstalling.
    Everyone makes mistakes.
    But a good video. Thanks
