Modders are the unsung heroes of the video game industry
They are and some devs rely on them to fix their game and treat them as free labor
@@GodDiggetyDoodle hears the words "it just works" echo in the back of my head
Till an idiot starts putting drm stuff on the mods 😅
@@GodDiggetyDoodle And then on the opposite side some devs will become a bit jealous and try to stop them or just start treating modders like a nuisance. It's sad. Usually because it ends up being a single modder doing something a team of developers couldn't or wouldn't do and the players start questioning the developers (for good reason).
rockstar: wrong, they are evill and are stealing our money
Finally, I can play the Malenia fight as intended
Yeah the first time i fought malenia i thought sekiro could easily beat her ass
finally. someone else who understands she belongs in sekiro.
@@ResepticsShe feels like a Sekiro boss, honestly I’d love for Elden Ring to have or been designed with a Sekiro parry system or parts of it, I need FromSoft parrying injected at all times into my veins it’s just that good.
@@pyrrhusofepirus8491 Probably the next title would have that kinda mechanic. Since Sekiro and Elden Ring were developed around the same time, they tested out with two different mechanics.
Hopefully they keep parry spam in sekiro only, that mechanic is so boring.
This is really impressive. The boss actually works in a different game. Hit boxes, move set and AI look good
I will take a gess, its because the motor its the same soo models and hitbox can be exportet from game to game, maybe the ai to and change some propeties of the hitbox for the parry
it is a Sekiro Boss. Elden Ring 2 is going to be more Sekiro. Mark my words.
it work great in elden ring, but here... its perfect...
From what i have heard, the boss was initially made to be used in Sekiro in a DLC; but for whatever reason, it never got used so they implemented bits and pieces of the boss into Elden Ring.
She has a Mikiri counter animation, a mechanic that doesn't exist in Elden Ring.
She was definitely made originally for Sekiro
Malenia is completely based from Tomoe in Sekiro Lore. We can learn Tomoe's sword skills in Sekiro and they are the Same Flurry Attacks that Malenia does in Elden Ring.
not only that, rivers of blood ashes of war attack is basically floating passage from sekiro, but with blood
It's only like that because they wanted to reuse their asset
@@Radec_G that's called "reused recycled redone assets"
animations not assets, sherlock.@@kaiserdetectivegolden2735
@@Radec_GCorpse Piler uses Double Slash's Animation, which is similar to the Floating Passage. It might be a reuse of assets, it might also be a reference or it could be both.
it's no coincidence, Malenia was most likely designed to be a Sekiro boss who was then discarded, and was recycled for Elden Ring
a year ago or so, I saw someone claim Malenia was originally a sekiro Lady Tomoe boss fight and I didnt buy it at first.
but after seeing the Mikiri counter and waterfowl deflect Im convinced. Also why does a valkarae in a game based on norse mythos wield a katana
I always thought so, usually when you hear legendary figures in souls game you get to fight them
@@Micolashcage1i mean, waterfowl is basically cloud passage, which, according to lore, was Tomoe's technique.
@@Micolashcage1 the parry animation you saw is just the used animation in the whole game
@@Micolashcage1 Makes so much sense for the supposedly abandoned tomoe DLC, Sekiro being the only fromgame with no DLC is such a shame considering how F****** good the combat system is
I need to see ONGBAL absolutely destroy her in Sekiro now.
ongbal is actually goated, he is the most cinematic player i've seen. better than letmesoloher imo
This dude is the boss
You realize ongbal has been exposed as a cheat before right? He uses a tool assisted methods to perfect parry
@@jokeruiner4481 my friend, watch his lies of p gameplay before release, he still perfect parry most stuff in beta. which is new, so there is no tool assisted stuff yet
@@landkart7233 The two aren't really comparable IMO
-LMSH has killed Malenia hundreds of times for other players, helping the community with something they struggle with; that requires battling both her, as well as poor ping and wildcard players that could ruin the attempt, with no room for mistakes
-Ongbal makes videos with cinematic gameplay against many different bosses, in many different games, with many different weapons and tactis; just for the purpose of looking cool, and where any failed attempts can be edited out
Of course Ongbal is going to look "better" than LMSH. He's deliberatly trying to look that way.
LMSH gets more attention because he interacts with the community much more.
Both are doing different things, altogether
When fighting her I was constantly wishing she was a boss in Sekiro. It's much more fair / balanced this way
Yup. Cause she is actually from sekiro with bloodborne health mechanics sprinkled in
It's just different because she is perfectly balanced in her current state in Elden Ring. But very cool mod ngl.
@@giancarlo5945 No, she isn't. Coming from a dude who has no-hit her. She is not balanced.
@@suchar7175she still fits better in sekiro
@@suchar7175no shes not. Just because its possible to beat her doesnt mean its balanced and fair
This practically confirms that Malenia was originally a Sekiro boss, probably Tomoe.
No it doesn't, it just confirms that people want it to be true so bad, they'll believe it without any conformation.
@@Jaaaa315 i need me those conformation
@@Jaaaa315
>you need to do a bizzare ass backwards sequence of rolls to deal with waterfowl
>her poise doesn't properly works
>her agression seems random
>you can learn her moves in sekiro
It was obvious she is sekiro boss since the beginning and the fact that she works in sekiro with zero changes way better than ER is a final nail in the coffin
Tomoe make so much sense
@@Jaaaa315she literally functions like a Sekiro boss. Anyone who played Sekiro before Elden Ring feels this. The way she slides out of a parry in Elden Ring looks and functions like it would in Sekiro. The flow of her actions is also like Sekiro bosses. Comparing her movements and animations to other Elden Ring Bosses and Sekiro bosses (particularly the human ones, Owl, Genichiro and Sword Saint) she has way more in common with the Sekiro bosses. She doesn’t feel like a Souls boss like the rest of the enemies in ER.
Pair all that with From Software having an penchant to use previously scrapped data and work to fit into another project… all evidence points towards her being originally Tomoe. Compare Water Fowl Dance to the practically same move in Sekiro. To deny the obvious connection to a scrapped Sekiro boss… but hey if Miyazaki doesn’t say so then it is all just a crack pot fan theory ain’t it? To be dismissed so easily?
watching her do the Isshin step dodge is so fucking cool
Hesitation is defeat.
0:33 for repeats
Okay, theory time.
For a while now, I had this thought that Malenia may use leftover animations from a scrapped Tomoe boss fight.
For those unaware, Tomoe is a big character in Sekiro's background lore, a master swordswoman, whose abilities were described to be elegant, like dancing.
Malenia always struck me as too ridiculous for Elden Ring, definitely more fitting into a Sekiro setting, this paired with the fact that we never got to actually meet Tomoe (except her corpse) and the way the animations behave like her fighting style was described, kinda settles it for me.
It's not so much a theory, she's pretty much confirmed to have been created for a Sekiro DLC that never happened. There are datamined animations in Elden Ring for her reaction to mechanics that only exist in Sekiro for instance.
@@Rynjinivar Nice to see that I wasn't crazy, I had this theory since the day I met her :o
Never saw her corpse btw
@@deabogg it's buried supposedly.
she could have faked her own death for reasons thogh.
Elden Ring uses the same engine Sekiro uses so of course, it would have assets that would carry over between games. I think Malenia's moveset is suitable for a parry-based game like Sekiro. You can insert Lady Maria or Gherman in Sekiro and their playstyle would fit just fine even though Bloodborne was released first.
I always wanted to mikiri counter that thrust attack so bad
And then there was this male fantasy
Well i think that Malenia really has Tomoe moveset this works flawlessly in sekiro
Miyazaki did say the games were developed in Tandem. And Demon of Hatred in Sekiro is quite the divergence from what you learn, it’s like a Bloodborne boss.
Basically, Miyazaki was high on that day when he swapped Malenia and Demon of Hatred just to piss on us more.
@@silenthero2795 precisely
hahaha it actually makes so much sense now @@silenthero2795

Finally, a way for me to beat Malenia
Or just use burn o flame
She looks more fun to fight than in ER that's for sure...
100%. Malenia is more of a Sekiro boss than a Souls boss overall
@@ni9274seriously how? She plays pretty fast compared to most bosses, those moves seem to be made for parry mode, how braindead are you
@@ni9274 Not really though, as proven by this video her move set is way closer to something you would see in Sekiro than a souls game
@@ni9274why is this kobeni poster highly regarded
@@ni9274Must be your first souls game if this is actually what you believe.
im kinda surprised people are just now realizing that malenia is supposed to be a sekiro boss. Literally her waterfowl dance is literally inspired FROM SEKIRO (spiral cloud passage move), on top with how fast she moves compared to all the other elden ring bosses, malenia is literally built for sekiro.
There are much faster Bosses than her, like Maliketh and Radagon.
@@suchar7175
Maliketh is really fast, he's just constantly in the air shooting sword beams like an anime character and Radagon isn't fast, either he just can teleport and has a few moves that close in quickly.
What I think they mean, here, is pure footies. In terms of just moving around, tracking, chasing, and dodging, Melania is definitely one of the faster bosses.
@@Bladezeromus either way, Malenia is not too fast for Elden Ring, you can easily interrupt her "fast" attacks with Colossals.
@@ni9274 maybe she was slowed down
@@suchar7175 her footing is fast as fuck and she would have been a crazy good boss in sekiro but in elden ring she is just broken
She fits so well because her moveset was meant to be in Sekiro. There's a good chance that Tomoe, Genichiro's mentor, was meant to be in the game at some point, but was cut. Her Waterfowl Dance move was later given to Malenia. A similar thing happened with a cut boss from DS3, which was later brought back as Red Wolf of Radagon.
Wow this actually looks like fair and balanced game design
That's fucking insane. I think everyone had this in mind when they thought about how malenia would fit into sekiro, but to actually see it perfectly realized is crazy.
I'd like to note that she has the isshin dodge and the old waterfowl that got scrapped.
I dont know why but this version of Malenia feels more imposing. The sheer weight behind her flowing attacks makes her feel as strong and deadly as she is in lore. Hits like a sledge hammer with the ellegance of a dancer
She also seems way easier though.
@RuneKatashima easier or fair? I mean if you suck at perfect blocking you're gonna have a hard time but if you have the skill to imput at the right moment it's rewarded.
@@RuneKatashimalook way harder than a lot of sekiro boss the man who play is just perfect block everything now imagine if you are not perfect block you get a little Scarlet rot and she regain posture or life
Okay, now someone should mod demon of hatred into bloodborne
Fromsoft did this be themselves
They already did. Its called Lawrence and he sucks
they forgot the part where she regenerates her entire health bar with every attack whether you block or not
It wouldn’t matter to a big degree in Sekiro though lol. You can just deflect her till her posture breaks. Although this process will be very long considering bosses and enemies recovery posture relatively much quicker whilst in 100% health.
If she was a Sekiro boss, it would have to be a perfect-parry one where doing a block would have her regenerate health.
Deflecting until her guard break
except health is not priority in Sekiro compare to its Souls brother...once the poise is broken and ready for backstab, she will die no matter how much health she can regenerate
In sekiro it would be like: if you perfect parry she doesn't regenerate, if you block and miss a parry she regenerates, plus she has posture so regeneration is not a huge deal
At long last, the cut boss placed back into the game she was made for. Who doesn't break the game's mechanics on a fundamental level, because she was designed for Sekiro
Skill issue lol
@@ni9274She completely breaks Elden Ring rules and there are actual good videos explaining why, and also showing earlier test versions of Malenia, where her movement speed was different.
@@ni9274 No no, she is broken in Elden Ring BUT you can adapt, but to fight her you MUST engage whit her differently than any other boss.
Because literally ANY mistake whit her is death, but she was built for Sekiro.
No, no, he's got a point.
@@ni9274I swear when people say stuff like you can best her or no hit her, they say it's balanced because of that.
Just because a good player can do something doesn't mean it's balanced properly for the game. Just because you can technically no hit her and destroy her in Elden Ring doesn't mean it'd balanced.
As you can see she immediately becomes 1000% easier and more enjoyable with a deflect/parry
It's pretty much confirmed that she is a scrapped boss from Sekiro (namely Lady Tomoe, which you would likely find in the never made DLC)
There are just too many similarities for it not to be the case.
*Her waterfowl dance in Elden Ring is extremely similar to the secret Spiral Cloud Passage weapon art from Sekiro.
*She only has one arm, mirroring Wolf.
*She is rotting, just like Wolf is.
*She dedicates her life to protecting an important and holy child that is on a mission to undo a godly ailment affecting their protector (Sekiro and Kuro)
*Her black spots on her body were probably originally supposed to be burn marks from the lightning of Tomoe everyone in Sekiro talked about. Her attacks seem out of place for a game like Elden Ring, hence why she is so controversial. She even uses a katana, I mean come on.
fuck man lady tomoe as a DLC boss would be so sick.
@@Swanson-hs5dfI'd like to imagine tomoe having the beautiful flow of corrupted monk, with the lightning and speed of genichiro, and the imposing nature of Isshin. It'd be such a fantastic boss.
Now I'm really curious as to why they even scrapped the sekiro dlc, was it to put more focus into the development of elden ring?
If I had to take a guess Malenia’s skeleton might have originally been created for a Tomoe fight in Sekiro that was never implemented and Fromsoft decided reuse the rig and tweak it for Elden Ring.
She goes from hardest boss in one game to easiest boss in another.
Malenia was definitely mean to be Tomoe featured in the dlc that never happened
Is that “Tomoe” like the Sharingan tomoe because he can react to the fast swords and deflect😮?
People think the waterfowl dance is crazy but if you think about it it looks extremely similar to genichiro's dance that he does consecutive attacks and isshin's one mind that you can parry, so the waterfowl dance would absolutely be doable in sekiro
he is her student after all
Malenia was always a Sekiro boss but teleported to the wrong game 😂
Must’ve been isekai’d or something
Since focus on Elden Ring was the reason Sekiro didn't get DLC when dataminers have found that there were originally plans for it, people can't convince me Malenia wasn't intended to be a Sekiro boss before being remodelled into Malenia for Elden Ring. That old version of ''waterfowl dance'' she has in the 1.0 of Elden Ring we see at 0:37 looks sooooo much like how Tomoe's watery flowing fighting style was described by Isshin. I think she was meant to be Tomoe.
Endlessly Parrying swords in Sekiro with success is pure ASMR.
Malenia was 100% a ditched Sekiro boss. Thought that the moment I fought her in Elden Ring. The way she moves and her fighting style are felt so much like the design intentions of Sekiro were brought into the traditional Soulslike format.
Its actually a big fat shame Sekiro hasn’t gotten any DLC since its release. Wishing for the day Miyazaki makes another spiritual successor for Sekiro like how Dark Souls was to Demon Souls.
Hot take, I would rather get a Sekiro DLC than an Elden Ring DLC tbh. Elden Ring has so much content already in comparison to Sekiro.
Melina and beast of hatred switched places
I can imagine drilling 20 lazuli shurikens into malenia while she sits on the ground after exploding
I ALWAYS SAID THIS BOSS WOULD'VE BEEN A PERFECT FIT FOR SEKIRO
She seems soooooo out of place in Elden Ring now that I see this
Sister Friede, lady Maria, guess every super fast boss is a sekiro boss, they are designed to beat your ass
@@rangopistacho6928 Meh, not really. I wouldn't see Lady Maria in any other game than Bloodborne tbh. Just my opinion tho
@@rangopistacho6928sister friede wasn’t that bad but she wasn’t great either, and lady Maria was perfect what you on about?
It’s weird that I haven’t heard anybody pick up on the fact that every souls game there is a secret boss that doesn’t belong in the game because it doesn’t follow the mechanics of the game. For example, in this clip, you see how well you can parry her attacks but you can’t do that in Elden ring which is why people have a hard time with her just like how in sekiro the demon of hatred, you can’t Parry its attacks only dodge it, but if you were to put him in blood-borne it would probably be a more enjoyable fight because of how aggressive he is
you can parry demon of hatred's attacks, even the fire moves but you need the iron umbrella to not take fire damage. only ones you cant parry are the perilous moves
@@westonstaufenberg7278that still requires you to use a lot of resources you don't need to use normally. He is basically Laurence made into a sekeiro boss
Elden Ring - Malenia belongs in Sekiro
Sekiro - Honestly the Demon of Hatred wouldn't fit great (it would be a balance nightmare in DS3, it might be ok in Bloodborne) but the first phase Gaurdian Ape would be perfect in DS3.
DS3 - Sister Friede
BB - Martyr Logarius and the regular undead Giant always felt like a DS3 boss
not this crap again, DoH wont work in souls format bcs how fast and mobile he is, it force you to use infinite sprint, jumping and wrapling around while using shinobi tools more than any sekiro boss, is a test of mechanics and endurance he would be awful in ways he is not designed for, also you can parry most of his things
I think you’re right that demon of hatred didn’t fit sekiro but I don’t think that’s a good thing. I beat sekiro 3 times and hated that fight because of how fucking long and annoying it is. You physically can’t posture break him because he moves away from the player with half his moves. It wasn’t fun to fight just like malenia isn’t fun to fight.
The Mikiri Counter actually working on her thrust attack is crazy
I loved how all mechs of the game works on malenia
so good

Mom: We have a Tomoe boss fight at home.
Tomoe boss fight at home:
Would be cool to see the Demon of Hatred ported over to ER or Bloodborne as well
They even have the OG Waterfowl in there too…
Malenia would be a complete joke in Sekiro
Malenia always struck me as a "this was not designed with Souls combat in mind" type of boss, and this really shows that they probably had Sekiro mindset with her for some reason.
More reasons to add why she was suspected to be a resused boss from a cancelled sekiro dlc.
Good good, now mod a Sekiro without clothes and with a pot over his head.
I’m just shocked she had a mikiri counter animation and when getting stabbed during the deathblow. It’s like she was meant to be a boss in sekiro
Malenia most likely was originally developed as a Tomoe bossfight in Sekiro, but they never finished her in time. Her apprentice Genichiro uses a heavily nerfed version of Waterfowl, (although it’s still tough to perfect deflect the full combo). Her prosthetic arm also makes her a cool foil to Wolf, as they were both servants of Divine Heirs
Malenia was absolutely originally designed as a Sekiro boss.
She's completely unbalanced in Elden Ring
True, she does indeed have the shinobi kick and sprial cloud moves, which goes to show how good she would have fitted in Sekiro. This is a dream come true!
She isn't unbalanced she's just anti cheese
@@rangopistacho6928 Ah yes, frame perfect inputs to dodge attacks like the waterfowl dance is 'balanced', not to mention her healing on every hit (including shields for some reason) and having an odd poise system compared to other humanoid enemies/bosses.

People saying that Malenia is designed for sekiro are actual clowns lol, She would be literal cakewalk in sekiro and not a challenge at all, It's much more fun and engaging as an ER fight than anything, and she's balanced around that.
this not only could be interpret like that malenia was originally a concept for Sekiro, but also this basically proofs that Wolf is the strongest protagonist of any souls game, is not only the fact that the fight seems to be way more smooth, it is also EASIER for the player to deal with her while controlling Wolf
Wolf's advantage is that he doesn't have a stamina bar which is a whole mechanic in itself. You also have a mikiri counter which is essentially free damage. If Malenia is in Sekiro, you need to do a perfect parry for each attack or you get chip damage. And even if you do parry, you get Scarlet Rot buildup so you can't just parry her endlessly.

I can't wait for Ibis and Balteus to be fitted in someday
So can we all agree Malenia was originally Lady Tomoe intended for Sekiro?
The waterfowl dance is just 3 consecutive one mind and one mind just 3 rapid hits
when he said he wants to see how he will deal with the waterfoul dance move I was like "let me guess, he will parry the whole sequence"
The waterfowl dance is literally a move Genichiro uses in his boss battle and it’s very easy to parry
I'm genuinely surprised to see how many people come to the thought that she belongs in sekiro and not elden ring well she works in both and also she's not the first boss that many would think that should or not belong here and that boss would be the demon of hatred.
Malenia works in ER bcs her combo strings and rollcatching+positioning+strafing thats why she would suck in sekiro were you are in one place spaming deflect instead of dodging, ppl go crazy bcs eee katana and fast slash she is from sekuirou😵💫🥴 even demon of hatred wont work in souls bcs how fast it runs and jumps away, it test the use of infinite sprint, jumping and using the rope, and shinobi tools more than any sekiro boss
@lalouwu6371 that's the idea ma G they both give you that feeling but in reality they wouldn't work if you made the switch plus fromsoftware are not idiots cuz they will not but bosses that are defective but i guess everyone is a smartass that knows more than them smh
Its interesting how they used one of her unused animations for a mechanic (the second waterfoul dance looking attack). Super impressive
whats impressive is the person being able to parry everything
this looks way better than I expected
Seeing Malenia get Mikiri countered brings me tears of joy.
it's kinda cool how it can turn into a flower or whatever that was
It fits 1 to 1. Would make sense because FromSoftware frequently put a boss with a playstyle that fits their other games. Malenia was picked out as a sekiro boss pretty quickly tbh
demon of hatred in sekiro being a souls boss
That looks like so much more than than the actual fight lmao
0:37 they even added in the original concept for waterfowl that data miners found in elden ring, that's sick
They even added the original Water Fowl Dance that was cut from the game.
When I first saw the blade dance as a sekiro player, I was like, this is a sekiro move set. I wish I could have that to parry all of it
*Sword clash*
Sekiro: "Hesitation is defeat"
Malenia: "Heh. I have never known defeat"
Wolf: heal all you want lady...but once that poise break, you're dead.
This makes way more sense than just rolling around from her
“It just works”
"But how are you gonna parry waterfowl dance?"
One-mind in the corner "Easily..."
THIS is the intended meaning of "it just works"
I like to think of her as tomoe who we never got to fight in sekiro
The mikiri counter fits so good
And just like that Malenia is a great boss fight now
the mikiri counter was majestic
At least a fair battle
Sekiro:"You are only a god in your world"
in this world there is two type of person. Those who make insanely good and surprinsing works and those who just say wow wtf
"I am Tomoe, The Severed, Blade of Genichiro. And I have never known DLC."
Looks like the most satisfying way to fight her.
Even the mikiri counter is nice
Even the mikiri counter wow, makes me wonder if she was originally designed for sekiro
One of the versions of the Saint has a variation of millennia’s waterfall dance, in his move set to start with or it would be more accurate to say it was his, and they tweaked it for Malaina and that’s how we got waterfall dance in Elden ring so it kind of makes sense that she could be modded into Sekiro and have it work so well.
lorewise she fits too, with the rot and flowing swordsman stuff
It’s funny cause her waterfowl is honestly the same as genichiros little combo he does in ashina castle but it’s slower so she’s easy to parry lmao
Personally, I think the waterfowl dance should retain the multihit property on each flourish. I don't know how the actual modding works, so maybe that isn't possible while keeping the attack parryable for an actual human, but waterfowl not being a blender just feels wrong.
Otherwise I think this is incredibly impressive. Makes me want to give the fight a shot myself.
There's also a video of a boss fight with radagon but instead he's modded to look like sauron from Lord of the Rings
Malenia : "i have never known defeat"
Sekiro : "i learned from my defeat"
Melania ain't Waterfall dance ain't messin with Floating cloud passage or one mind 😂
its kinda nuts how well this fits. ive always said shes a sekiro boss just like how alot of demon of hatred feels like a bloodborne boss minus the aoe's for sekiro's jumping
