    This was the year Kobe was a freakin' MACHINE!!! He had gained 15 lbs of muscle in the off-season and imo it didn't effect his quickness or explosivesness but enhanced it...His dunks were extra vicious and he was like something created in a video game! They may not have won the 'ship that year, but man was it a treat to watch Kobe play-it always is- but this was a special season for him.

    Kobe's physical body that year adding 15 lbs of muscle really helped & the reason he had those big numbers.

    2002-2003 Kobe > 2012-2013 Lebron. Kobe got the triple double, he got all his teammates involved drove to the hole to get fouled when it mattered. Knocked down 2 clutch fTs. & he was athletic with freakish body control, with an ability to score at any time that resembled Michael Jordan's ability.

    The fact kobe got robbed for minimum 2 mvps is pretty sad, but when you destroy some teams and players so hard they gonna be angry and don t want you to get respect for that :(

      I think it’s two-fold...his teams barely made the playoffs and the after affects of the players not liking Kobe when he put many players on blast for their indiscretions. But he was clearly the best player in the league for maybe 10-12 years.

  • @Janggoon1
    @Janggoon1 Před 16 lety +10

    KB 02-03 was a result of his infamous 666 workout regimen. As you can see, Kobe looks ridiculous..the fact that he also took kickboxing also gave him rock solid broad shoulders. Just look at how he shoots his treys, its like he's shooting mid-range jumpers. You could also see him palming the ball with ease..he worked on hard on that as well. Thats why he was able to do one-handed double pump shots that year. I watched every single game of that year and remember each one like the back of my hand.

    Shaq should have listented to Kobe and should have kept in shape in the off season.
    thats the main reason they broke up Lol.

      Joshua Reynoso Agreed! Kobe may be stubborn, but Shaq was even more stubborn, rehabbing an injury on "company time", while he could've, should've gotten it done in the offseason! Kobe HAD to carry this Laker squad! I think he was the only one (maybe Fish) ready for the season.

      @alfredmayes5005 Před 3 lety +1

      💯 Facts...I guess it just wasn’t in Shaq’s DNA to have the work ethic to want to be the best...otherwise that duo should have won at least 5 or 6 titles together.

    I'm the biggest kobe fan in the world but I'm surprised he doesnt have more triple doubles in his carrer. he never cared about stats and getting assists and rebounds, he wanted to win and torture you, but he easily could've had more triple doubles if he set his mind to it. although triple doubles are overrated. if you worry about stats and getting enough rebounds and assists, youre not gonna play proper basketball on either end of the floor, that's why harden is my mvp this season. i love Westbrook too, but I dont believe in going out there trying to fill up the stat sheet

      he is constraint by the triangle

    • @sergiogarcia5593
      @sergiogarcia5593 Před 4 lety +2

      The era Kobe played in wasn’t so fast-paced nor did it rely so heavily on the three ball. Kobe had to grab boards inside the paint instead of grabbing rebounds off of long 3PT shots like today. So, if you don’t have those long rebounds, why would you fight to grab a board when you have Shaq, Gasol, or Bynum? And, obviously everyone today is quick trigger threes, playing in the triangle and with Big Men that didn’t play on the perimeter, 5 assists for most of his career is impressive. Kobe could easily get 8 rebounds and 10 assists in today’s game during his prime. I mean he got a career-high 6 apg in 2013 when he distributed more to shooters and had more freedom. Reminder: Kobe was 34 and on his last legs doing that.

    • @megaslice23
      @megaslice23 Před 2 lety +2

      Kobe stated on multiple occasions that he could have had more triple doubles (or at least averaged more assists), but he knew his role was as a finisher first and a facilitator second. Also, as someone already said, the triangle diminished his statistical output due to it being an equal opportunity offense and most of his passes not directly leading to shot attempts.

  • @kisswriters
    @kisswriters Před 12 lety +4

    Huge Kobe fan, but I have to agree. He is incredibly stubborn. But when push comes to shove, he subordinates his game to the team concept. In short, he can be reasoned with, given the right circumstances (i.e., coach, respected teammates, playoffs series, etc.). That's where Phil misjudged Kobe, in my opinion. He took his issues with Kobe to the media, in an attempt to reign him in, as opposed to reasoning with him. I could be wrong, but that's my take.

    • @Kommunik8Moor
      @Kommunik8Moor Před 3 lety +2

      Kisswriters Kobe is stubborn to the point of demanding you do all you can to stay in shape and be ready to play. If you are a rebounder then try to be the best etc...Phil used the media to his advantage a lot but he did at times use it to the detriment of Kobe in particular. You have a star who only wants to win sit him down talk to him about that and how he can achieve that running your system and how to use his way of leadership to the team’s advantage. Mine was not a spoiled athlete he is what parents should point to when they want to teach their children about attention to going after your dreams.

    If Kobe had learned to become a willing consistent passer he would have had a lot of easier looks. This game was an anomaly. He rarely looked to give it up this much, you'd just see him do it for small stretches here and there. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Kobe guy, but he rarely had games like this. Lonzo be giving it up like this every game for his entire career. That's just the way he plays.

      Well, in fairness to Kobe, that Lonzo comparison is off. Kobe was a two guard. How many assists is he supposed to average? I think 6 is pretty damn good! Lonzo’s a point! He better be a good distributor.

    This was probably Kobe's best season statistically and athletically.but Kobe taking more shots this season and the lakers not feeding the ball to shaq as much was exactly why the lakers didn't win the chip in 03.kobe doesn't make his teammates better and he often takes a lot of shots(bad shots) and puts the team out of rhythm
