Kobe Bryant greatest games: 50pts vs Clippers - 40 in 2nd half (2006)

  • (2006) "Two-Face".
When Kobe's frustrated, watch out. After serving a 2 game suspension, KB torched Phily for 48pts before playing the Clippers. Kobe has the capacity to make the last shot even if he missed his last 10, or scoring 30pts in the 4th after being scoreless in the 1st three.
So here comes Mr Two-Face in this city rivalry. After a 10pt 1st half on 2 of 12 shooting, Kobe lead his team to a wild win, scoring 40pts after the break with 6 threes. Oh yeah, he made the game winner too.

Kobe should be the definition of on fire, because when he get's it going there is no stopping him, and the difference between kobe and KD and Melo is that kobe can make the most difficult shots, he doesn't need to be open nor does he need any space, these guys do.

Though I will start by saying that he has the greatest work ethic in NBA history is extremely subjective and there is no way of measuring that. Second, If you watch a playoff game against the Knicks in 93...game four in which he scored 54 points, MJ twice jab stepped from beyond the three point line and drained two threes in Stark's face. Third, MJ was very adept

    - Ability to jab step behind the three-point line, pull up for the three and swish it in a defenders face.
    - The Yo-Yo Move.
    - Most complete footwork and deceptive moves in his offensive arsenal.
    - Flawless ambidexterity even from mid-range.
    - Ability to score from ANYWHERE on the floor. (MJ was a weak three point shooter most of his career)
    - Dominating without being the most athletic guy (40 inch vertical at best), having huge hands or a wide body frame or being the fastest guy out there.

that 2nd half showed a glimpse of what he could do. I was personally omg'ing the whole time. that one shot at 1:56 were he goes between the legs and fades and cocks back the shot over his head and drains it... i couldn't believe that shit

He went 2 for 12 in the first half, took over the game in the second half, won the game in the second half...and shot over 50% in the second half.

Last post...I just wanted to make sure I addressed all of your points...the point about the footwork is kind of subjective as well. Anybody who destroyed opponents in the post the way that Mike did can't hardly be considered second fiddle in the footwork department but again, when comparing the two, I can't see anything related to footwork that Kobe did that Mike didn't do. Even the reverse pivot spin that Kobe did against the Knicks; Mike did that against the bullets and hit off the glass.

And as for Lebron this season, let's see how he does in May before we start talking about how great he is.

And yes there was also a period of time where Mike was no longer the athletic beast that he was and still dominated so that is not an advantage that Kobe has. Let's just keep in mind that as similar as they are to one another, they still went about using aspects of their games diffrently and though either one may not have used the exact same methods all of the time, it does not mean that one could not do what they the other did. My only point was that the things that Kobe did, Mike did as well

I love how every big scoring game he has they always win that game otherwise what's the point?
