- After a long wait and many rounds down range we take a look at the APFG/VFC 2023 MCX Rattler GBBR possibly the best SBR-GBBR on the market today. If you want to get yours then head over to www.proactstore.com A huge thanks to Action Airsoft for a great service and a competitive low price.
thanks for answering my question about the v3 mag compatibility. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the great review and content!
Thanks for the great review
The brand that makes a drop-in mod for valve strike is ESD. VFC V3 striker assembly needs permanent modification to use on older gen receiver.
hi that's it I mounted a 138mm cannon mapple leaf crazy jet and a purple nine ball joint, it shoots very straight compared to the original I also increased the power with the NPAS all it works very well this replica is really good quality, thank you for your videos
What npas did you install I am thinking about getting this airsoft gbbr?
Hi there, the MCX Rattler comes with an NPAS in it already. It uses a 1.5mm hex key down the nozzle to adjust, hope that it helps.
nice review, would like see how you will upgrade it
Great video
Thank you for this great review!
I do have a question concerning your MCX's lower receiver:
Have you checked your lower receiver recently? I know 2 people in my group whose lowers have had a crack on tbe right side near the rear receiver pin, we suspect it's the accu-wedge
Hi there, there are no cracks on mine, sadly with all mass manufactured items there are always defects or lemons. I will keep an eye out but over the multiple thousands of rounds used so far through it it seems ok.
Hello, thank you for the video! It was super informative! The only question I have is is the gun compatible with higher round magazines?
Hi there, the Rattler is only compatible with VFC standard Gas GI magazines. At this moment, there are only milsim 30 round mags available, but hopefully, in the future, there will be drum mags available.
Great vid! I've been thinking about getting one of these at some point, but I despise the default handguard, so do you know any longer handguards that would fit on this?
The vfc aeg mcx handguards fit, as this is a 1 to 1 replica any real steel should too. Hope that helps
Great video, love the Rattler. Can I ask if the red dot used here holds zero very well under recoil?
Hi there, the red dot i have dose hold zero on the Rattler.
Great video and review andy love the looks of this little beast can i ask how long did it take to get shipped to the uk and was there any issues with customs as haveheard its hit and miss mostly miss with them
Hi there, I ordered mine from Action Airsoft in Taiwan using the EMS Speed ship as it was the only option. It took 1 month, I learnt my lesson with that and used ups from there on which took 1 to 2 weeks. Also, as you will have to fill an RIF form, it's easier to do through ups as you can talk directly to them. Hope that helps.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk hi bud definitely liking this rif want to get into gbbr any tips before I take the plunge
Hi there, there are two things you need to ask yourself before you drop a lot of cash.
1. What type of player are you? Are you speedy or millsim?
2. Do you prefer realistic function on the inside, or do you mind losing a bit of realism for skirmishability?
I'm currently working on a comparison video between the vfc milspec system and the TM MWS system, so it may be worth holding off until you've seen that first. Hope that helps.
Thank you and excellent review with lots of detail, I have a couple of, do thee VFC VMags (their version of a PMag) work in it? Do you think it would be possible to attach the longer rails and inner barrels available for the MCX to turn it in to a Virtus or Spear Light? (Can the Rattle brass deflector be removed, to be replaced with the Virtus/Spear one?), thanks again, I've watched this vid a few times now and this is right on top of my shopping list!!
Thanks, I dont have any of the vmags yet but do plan to get the new v3 vmag ASAP to test. The handguard can be changed to any mcx compatible as long as they fit the real steel you should be good, you can extend the outer barrel with any 14mm ccw outer barrel extentions to any length. You can even swap the lower to any vfc m4 lower with the buffer adapter sold separately. As for the brass deflector its just like the real one and is possible to remove, though I haven't seen the forward assist replacement yet im sure there will be one at some point.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk any update on this? curious about vmags myself
Hi there, the vmags do work but are a little loose inside the mag well when compared to the standard mags. The main mags that don't work are the 416 mags due to their larger size.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk thought vmags worked in 416 as well as m4? or are they just even looser in the magwell in the 416
Hi there, sorry for the misunderstanding. What I was trying to say was the vmags work in the rattler but are a mit loose in the magwell. The only mags that don't work in the rattler are the 416 mags due to their size. The other thing I noticed was that when I use the vmags, the fps dropped by 10-20fps.
There one thing you missed. The rear QD point is not compatible with standard QD sling points. My came with one from action army that works on the rattler and surprisingly also on the vfc Aeg virtus. Anyway another great video!
I’m not sure what’s up with your rattler, but every QD point works perfectly on mine with standard QD sling mounts.
Nice!
Love it, need it! Could you clarify the cost of the RIF and how much was the postage please?
Sure my friend, if your in the uk the the gun is £399.99, the postage is £98, the uk customes dose vary on the day but an approximate estimate is 20% of the value declared
doing god's work
hi, i have its very good i wait your video to see your impression
This is a little late but how do you load the magazines? I'm planning on getting me one and I'm not used the the GBBR mags so I was trying to figure out if you just push the bbs down the lip or if there's a thing you have to pull down. Any help would be nice. thank you!
Hi there, most speed loaders come with an adapter, and yes, you feed them through the feed lips. Hope that helps!
Nice video. Seen some quality issues with mine. Bolt stop catching mid full auto. And a threaded internal screw internally on the inner of the lower. Just falls out. Accuracy seems to suffer with suppressor on. But not shot loads through mine yet. The charging handle also seems to scuff the body too
Hi there, I love my rattler and definitely at the start i had issues with the Inner Barrel extension inside the suppressor causing issues where bb's were flying 20feet in any direction but once i replaced it with a crazy jet from maple leaf it sorted it right out. you could even get a little more accuracy out of it with .28's or .32s but here in the uk i like to run .25s. I'm looking into getting a UMP-45 gbbr for the channel very soon.
Dude! I have the same issue as well.
1. There's a small bolt that just keeps sliding out in the lower
2. Some rounds don't properly shoot out and just 'plop' out
Love the gun but 2nd game issues like this are nuts.
Have you tried to get those issues fixed? Any success?
@@vandazel I’ve not tried yet. You?
@@jameswatson5380 I plan to. My VFC UMP45 was more reliable than the Rattler but still had the same pin issue in the lower.
I'll be bringing it into a shop next week, so hopefully I remember to update in this thread about the results. 😅
Can you use steel bbs in this gun?
I really hope you show that it’s also compatible with vfc gbbr lowers 🤞🏾
I do mention it but I need the buffer tube adapter for my 416, its in the post and didn't arrive in time for the review. There will be follow-up videos coming, I just finished the inner barrel swap and omg what a difference.
Any advice on removing the flash hider? Mine was so tight the outer barrel came loose when I tried to remove it
Hi there, the flashhider is a 2 piece device with the 3 prongs connected with a clockwise thread and the base nut anticlockwise. If you secure the base nut with a spanner 🔧 and undo the 3 prongs the normal way you should be able to remove it.
Beautiful gun. Is the boltcarrier also made from steel?
Hi there, the guide rods and springs are steel, but the carrier is aluminium and zinc alloy with a steel piece where the bolt catches the bolt stop.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk Thank you very much.
Just wondering, how did you know it had had an NPAS? It isn’t advertised anywhere I’ve come across, but tried with mine today and sure enough, something was turning inside the nozzle but haven’t fired to check. Love the gbb videos
Hi there, the rattler and the mpxk use the v3 nozzle from vfc, and they come with a small hex screw down the nozzle. Turn it ccw to raise the fps and cw to lower it depending on your sites limits. Hope that helps
@@MiddleAgeGameruk thanks again for that. Also, how has yours been? I’m a little paranoid as I’ve heard of lower receivers cracking and some buying a replacement buffer and removing the acuwedge to reduce ‘stress’.
Hi there, mine has been fine, over 10k rounds . The only issue I had was with the inner barrel extension in the suppressor. I was getting barrel strikes, so I removed the extension and replaced the inner barrel. I have a video on it. The main reason I hear of reciver cracks is because of users using red gas or black gas to get the fps up instead of using the npass and running green gas. Outside that, I can only say its down to mass production issues where you will get a defective one over however many thousands they make. The best thing to do is keep an eye on it and just run green gas until it's fully worn in after approx 1k rounds. You will find that on less than 1k rounds, it won't be efficient on full auto, so keep to semi until it's broken in. A lot of mag dumps can put stress on the reciver while it's still tight and new so take it slow.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk Yeah I’ve seen all your vids, love the channel as I’m an exclusive gbb user. Funny enough, I haven’t had any issues with suppressor strikes yet, but my hop-up chamber arrived broken, so replacing that with the CNC version soon. I’ll continue to run it in and see how it’s goes, thanks for the help
Sorry if this is a stupid question but, do you know of any ways the gun could be modified to take ghk mags? And more specifically what parts are per wanting the mags from working?
Hi there, no, that I know of reliably, the fit vfc Gen2 and 3 stanag mags no issue. It's all down to the geometry of the magwell inside.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk damn, thank you for answering
May I ask what company did you buy it from? Been looking to get one of these for a while but only find one place in the uk
Hi there I got my MCX Rattler from www.proactstore.com. If your after importing then I would recommend www.wgcshop.com as airsoft imports from Taiwan are taking very long to clear customs, upto a few months. Generally wgc orders take a week to prepare and 1 week and a half to arrive to the uk. There is an approx 20% customs charge/charges when it arrives.
@MiddleAgeGamer. ah okay, thanks for the info and making the video! Happy shooting
You mentioned the V2 mags dont work in the rattler - do they not lock in? gas out? misfeed feed?
Hi there, there v2 mags that don't fit the Rattler are the HK416 magazines. The mags don't even get more than an inch in the magwell before jamming. When compared to the standard v2/v3 m4 mags, the Hk ones are an inch and a half longer and slightly different in width. Hope that helps!!!!.
Is it to scale right? Is all the correct dimensions, I just got the aeg n only NOW, I've seen this gbb one after searching for months literally typing gbb mcx... anyways I think I'll get this one and swap the outer bodies of the aeg n gbb, so I cam have the real markings on the gbb one. U think that'll work?
Hi there, the APFG Rattler is 1:1 in scale but as with the real rattler and mcx the piccatinny rail on the top extends further on the mcx than the rattler so for handguards you need any airsoft or real steel rattler style. For the body, well all airsoft gbbrs are not compatible with aeg recivers, the cheapest option is to just find your local Ingraver and they will do a good job for you.
P.s. they do import them with the markings for an extra fee. You can try jk army as they were advertising a few months ago.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk thanks so much
Thank you for the review, may I ask what sight you use on this particular one?
Hi there, I use a T1 clone on the Rattler as in CQB it generally has a high chance of being shot out. For a cheap red dot, the dot is crisp, and there is no parallax.
do you still recommend this, or do you think think there are better options for the rattler.
Hi there, in short, yes, I do recommend it, the only issues i had with my unit was the power up inner barrel in the suppressor causing barrel strikes and the 1k round brake in time for the bucking, these are relatively cheap fixes and APFG/VFC has released a few rattler options like the SOCOM PDW version etc.
How is the range? And accuracy?
Is it just capable for cqb?
I like it more to play outside skirms.
Out of the box accuracy is good, but a tight, bore aftermarket inner barrel will make a difference. As for reach its good stock up to 30m and depending on the amo weight and you adjusting its built-in npass, you can get it to 40m. Hope that helps.
Thank you!
Have you experienced any other problems with this replica?
If i buy it i definetly upgrade the inner barrel to a longer one to get better range.
Hi there. The only issue I had was with barrel strikes where the suppressors' inner barrel extension joins with the main inner barrel of the gun. I removed the extension, and the problem was solved 👌. This is common with this style of design.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk i mean increase *
hello my friend do you know what is the manufacturer of the nozzle of the mcx rattler apfg? THANKS
Hi there, it's a VFC nozzle.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk ok thank you very much
Hi! What gas do you use and how many kilos/pounds is it?
Hi there, I use green gas, and it's approx 2kg-3kg as apart from the grip, its full metal
How did you remove the flash hider mine is like really stuck
Hi there, the rattler Flash Hider is a two-piece one. The 3 prongs unscrew traditionally, i.e., turn left to undo, and the base nut is counterclockwise. Just remember to hold the base nut securely when turning the flash hider.
Hi can I ask where you purchased this from please
Hi there, I got mine from www.proactstore.com , but if you live in the uk, you can get them from www.davescustomairsoft.co.uk hope that helps
Have you already tested VMags?
It would be nice to know whether they fit or whether they still need to be reworked.
I'm getting the PDW with the M4 lower and have 416 and Vmags lying around at home.
Hi there, the vmags are very tight fitting and have inconsistent feeding. At this time, I would stick with the normal v3 stanag. The hk 416a5 mags are a definite no. They have a different shape and can't fit more than an inch inside the magwell. Hope that helps.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk thanks for the reply. I'm at peace at the VMAs. I'll test what it's like with the M4 lower and the 416 magazines.
how did you get your flash hider off? Mine seems stuck on
Hi there, check for a hex screw on the flash hider and take that out first or you will strip the threads, then try unscrewing it, hope that helps.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk did yours have a hex screw on? I can't seem to see one and it's driving me crazy
It was a hex grub screw at the base of the flashhider its tiny but once thats out and a bit of force should remove it, it is a 14mm counter clockwise thread under there. Some times there could be thread lock on there but be careful, a bit of heat is needed to loosen if it dose
@@MiddleAgeGameruk mine musn't have a screw I've checked every angle of it, guess I'll try some heat to get it off
@@danmeal4191 hi my friend the special flashhider they give you is in two parts. the 3 prongs are clockwise threads so undo that first then the collar part is anticlockwise
So should I sell my gen2 to get a gen3?
Hi there, no certainly not if its in full working order there's no need too, my goal was to highlight the chainge vfc have made with the gen3. One thing vfc gets right is to support there products with parts so say in a year your gen2 firing pin goes like mine you can just replace it. If your still worried you can just buy a gen3 lower and it will work, or as I mentioned there are now third party support options. One thing is for sure with any mass produced item there will always be lemons/issues.
Which do you like more? MPX or MCX?
It really is hard to choose so i will go the easy root and say, if its tight quarters the mpx but if there's any medium to large rooms then the mcx. it really is so hard to choose as there both amazing.
@@MiddleAgeGameruk Then at least picking any of them is a good choice :) thanks for your reply!
sorry but do you know where i found this nozzle ?
Hi there, I got all my replacement parts from www.wgcshop.com
@@MiddleAgeGameruk thanks for all
Ahh yes the Sig MCX gbb, a very well made AR based platform....BUT! ☝🏼 does it perform as good as my JG H&K G36C with Tokyo Marui internals? 😎
How much did you pay about duty tax??
Hi there, here in the UK they charge 20% of the declared value of goods plus approx 5% paperwork fee 🙄.
Hi there. I asked because I live in uk😂. So about over hundred?
Hi there, sorry yeah on the unboxing video you can see the sticker from customs with the brakedown on there £117.82.
Lovely cheers fella 😉
Steel bolt?
Ho there, the guide rods and springs, the pins and screws and bolt catch point are steel the carrier is aluminium with a vfc v3 npass nozzle
The neighbor: 👀
I'm lucky to have great neighbours, that are very supportive
@@MiddleAgeGameruk Man, I wish I had neighbor like ya, im living like in town so no backyard etc, but I got an empty destroyed house infront of my house which I use for my airsoft and air rifle target, but the sound is so loud also there are a veteran and mostly are National Army here :(
a single bolt could not be used for 556 and 762 so that's a little silly
Hi there, 300 blackout is in simple terms 5.56 case, 7.62 bullet and a pistol level powder charge so yes a single bolt is OK, as I said in the video. Obviously if your implying 308 calibre rounds then no.
@Middle Aged Gamer yes but thats not what the bolt said, the bolt said 5.56x45 and 7.62x39, yes 300 blk and 5.56 share a parent case but not 7.62x39 like the bolt has engraved
@Middle Aged Gamer also not exactly a pistol level powder charge, 300 blk can be both sub and supersonic but in general the way they manipulate velocity has more to do with the projectile weight subs being 100 to 120 grains generally and supers being in the 200 to 230 grain range also the specifications for 300 blk would be 7.62x35, sorry I'm a fucking gun nerd lol
When checking the original real steel rattler the bolt carrier dose indeed say 5.56 Nato/7.62 so vfc did get the markings right, military arms channel has a great video of the disassembly of the real one for you to see. The 7.62 markings do indeed refer to the 300blk round as they did not say 7.62 Nato wich is the 308 caliber round. A simple miss understanding is easly made.
@Middle Aged Gamer vfcs marking says 7.62x39 which is different for 300blk which is 7.62x35
