When I started seeing Twitter "discourse" around the voice note and the sexual assault allegations yesterday it was incredibly triggering. As someone who HAS been in the scenario you described and had my assault story exposed to people I didn't know by a friend of mine, it is so disgusting to watch people on Twitter defend and debate it like it's "tea" and not a potential assault allegation that's being leaked for views. If there really is a survivor out there living through this and watching their story being leaked to people in the YT space by someone like Jeffree, no wonder they didn't want to come forward at the time. But if there isn't anyone and the voice note is fake, we're also watching these big YT personalities trivialize and make light of sexual assault and both of those scenarios are absolutely horrifying to me.

Because they’re complicit. I don’t think it’s quite the same, but think of other situations that involve other seedy people (like Epstein). Seedy people have mutual blackmail. They will not let you take them down without dragging you down with them.
When you aren’t a threat, they pretend to be your friend. You’re “in it together.” It wouldn’t surprise me if Jeffree believes the allegation but doesn’t care. He doesn’t want the allegation to be public because then he doesn’t have any leverage and has nothing to keep James quiet about whatever James might know about him.

1. the voice memo is real and jeffree is just such a scumbag that he was willing to praise someone doing a CHILD'S makeup even though he knew that person was a literal predator. and shane was also a scumbag for apologizing for bringing to light sexual assault allegations when he knows that that person is, in fact, a predator.
2. the voice memo isn't real and this is all some sick lie. in this case, that would delegitimize the stories of real sexual assault survivors.
i think either scenario is plausible at this point, and in both cases jeffree and shane look terrible.

Thank you for saying that a victim has no obligation to come forward and "tell their truth." People literally feel entitled to victims sharing their story, while ignoring the rates of prosecution, the debate on whether it's true or not, and the impact it could have on the victim's life.
A victim never has an obligation to do anything. They're not letting "a predator walk free" -- they're a VICTIM. Plain and simple.

There’s no way that JS can come out of this looking anything other than despicable. If he HAS got the voice note, he’s deliberately parading someone else’s trauma for his own malign purposes, if it doesn’t exist, he’s fuelling a baseless but potentially career-ending campaign against a fellow CZcamsr. Either way - it stinks.
What if the voice note is real. The person it is from isn't out and what happend is that James clearly crossed a line but things are in a grey zone because it could be miscommunication, lack of experience or something to that effect?

This was me yesterday talking about this to my wife who barely knows about any of these people. It's absolutely despicable. And as a gay person, it triggers the hell out of me to have the owner of one of the largest gay owned (privately held) brands treating someone's sexual assault (if it happened) as blackmail and tea and treating a 21 year old's mistakes (or assault, if it actually happened) as gossip. Forget the beauty community, what does this say to the world about the LGBTQ community. It's like every horrible stereotype about gay men in one human (assuming he's actually a human). Ugh, I cannot. I wish his business partner or investor or whatever would invoke whatever conduct clause is absolutely in their agreement and shut this down. And no victim ever has a duty to come forward. People need to STOP with that.

As someone who's had their assualt story shared around, it's so horrible. And it was common knowledge around my work place. It was humiliating because I did not want to share it with those people. The feelings I have are so complex when it comes to how someone sharing my story affected me. I feel for the victim because I could not imagine my assault being this public and shared to this degree.
I really wish the victim would have reached out to someone else. It's really unfortunate that they shared their story with someone who would take advantage of their situation and share their story without their consent. They already had their consent violated and now to have it violated again is disgusting and I'm sure traumatizing. I'm sorry that your story got shared around like gossip when it's clearly not

But now he allegedly has info about an assault, and is instead using it for drama. 🤔 It’s deplorable! 🤬 I just hope the alleged victim is okay, if these allegations are true. 😞

I just recently found your channel but I am so impressed by this video! This is so true, and I think it's so important to say that this is not tea. This is directly affecting peoples lives. Sometimes I think that certain people are so caught up in their world, that they just don't think others are real people. That other people's trauma is real trauma. Thank you Hannah for making this video. You make a really important point that people have completely missed. Jeffree Star is acting like he cares for the victim (“I can’t tell their story out of respect for them”) while TELLING THEIR STORY through that voice note. His actions directly contradict his words. What’s worse, he ‘acknowledges’ the victim is the only one who can tell their story, but then goes on to tell it anyway! He knows what he is doing is wrong- yet he still uses what may have been the worse experience in someone’s life FOR HIS BENEFIT. It’s inexcusable at every level.
I feel your genuine passion and anger about this person’s story being told, without their consent, to strangers. Thank you again for this video- it’s very concerning that NO ONE who talks about this publicly has considered the rights and feelings of the victim. That is so sad, and so telling about our society.
ETA: As you stated, no one knows if this voicemail even truly exists, or if the accusations therein are legitimate. For the sake of this discussion, I have commented as if the voicemail exists and it is legitimate. But we don’t actually know.
Either way, it reflects incredibly poorly on Jeffree’s ‘character’ (I am using that word very loosely here) and makes it all the more difficult for any victim of SA to come forward. He is actually causing real harm to not just the victim, but to anyone who has suffered SA. For profit. This needed to be said.
I cant stand people saying "he was in a dark place, he had traumatic childhood, he was depressed". I really dont like the sentence "hurt people hurt people". Long story short... I was diagnosed with clinical depression and social anxiety when I was 15. My social anxiety was so bad that I was homeschool for a year cause I literally coudnt leave my house. I went tru suicide thoughts and selfharm, for years. lI was bullied for being everweight my whole life. I had an eating dissorder since I was 12. When I was 14, 3 people from my close family died in 6 months. My father is an alcoholic. I was sexually abused twice, at 15 and at 17. My best friend died in a car crush when I was 21. And when I see Jeffree Star being an absolute monster and people are saying "he was in a dark place", honestly it hurts my feelings. And maybe its silly of my, idk. But it makes me sad and it offends me on a personal level. Cause I went thru hell and back and Im still not okay and still on therapy and on pills and its still impacting my everyday life and my relations and my plans and dreams. And even in the worst place in my life I was trying to be a fucking nice person. Let alone being a literal monster. I always thought that I dont want to hurt people cause I know how it feels and I always tried to treat people with kindness. And when people say he was a terrible person cause he was depressed, honestly its insulting.
