- Hi friends! So today's topic is a little tricky. I think there is a very fine line between bullying and holding someone accountable for there actions and I tried to make sure this video didn't cross that line. I strongly believe that supporting these launches leads to Jaclyn continuing not actually explaining or taking responsibility for her actions and those actions have been shown to negatively impact her subscribers and consumers. the vault collection recall was a huge lie. I worked at Ulta when that all went down, and we got the shipment of "original" vault palettes, but there was no recall. instead we were told to put those boxes somewhere out of the way, and a few weeks later, we got the ok to put them on the shelves. THE SAME PALETTES. I knew then that Morphe and Jaclyn were shady af.

You hit the nail on the head with "I have a hard time feeling bad for a millionaire who's only problems are the ones she created by putting out sub-par products." The reason I stopped following her (way before Lipstick Gate) was because of how unrelateable she has become. She's a flaunt-er. You live in a mansion, you drive an expensive car, you're constantly dressed in $15000 outfits/accessories, but yet you want to come on CZcams and tell us how hard your life has been, and that when your not on camera you never wear makeup, and love to sit around in sweat pants, and more of that "Look at how relatable I am!" Look, I appreciate that she has worked hard for her money, starting with nothing, and working her way up, but the only way I can handle someone flaunting their wealth above me (which I don't handle often) is if they can admit they are now unrelateable, and if they are still providing me a useful service, such as tutorials/reviews a few times a week. She doesn't do that.

When she lived in her smaller house, she lived in a more lower middle class neighborhood. When she first made her money, she bought a G-Wagon. A fucking Mercedes G-Wagon. So she’s living in this regular neighborhood, in Tampa, with essentially a Bentley in the driveway. Someone was leaving dog poop on her G-Wagon and she got the police involved. That’s who she is. All her fans want to “support” her, but what they’re really doing, is buying her another expensive Chanel bag. She doesn’t give back, to anyone, let alone a damn charity. She never holds herself accountable. She’s absolute trash.
Well where I live is a 'lower middle class' sort of town (call it what it is, working class!) But we don't feel the need to vandalise the cars that are more valuable. Our town actually produces Bentley cars, so you can imagine the amount of wealthy people we have visit, again don't vandalise their property because of their wealth. She earned the money to pay for her car, that doesnt give others the right to behave in such a way because they don't have the same wealth, there are better ways to fight for better rights and to close the gap between classes. I started following channels such as this one simply for the tutorials but my god the bitching that goes on in this beauty blogging world is absolutely disgraceful, do you realise what is happening in the world right now? Instead of attacking one another use that energy and time to fight for real change for the people who are oppressed the most, those whos lives truly are hard and they see no way out.

I’m a recovering alcoholic, I swear, she saw the reaction Jessica Simpson was getting about her alcoholism and chose to ride that wave. Also, why blame alcohol and then name a shade “Tipsy Girl” 🙄🤦🏽♀️ go away Jaclyn.

I also feel like she tries to be like Shane Dawson talking about her anxiety and mental health issues all the time. Not saying she doesn’t have those issues but I feel like she sees the positive responses Shane gets and she tries to get that too and is trying to make it “part of her brand” like he has. Didn’t she also name a shade something like “therapy session” which reminded me of some of Shane’s shade names. Idk I used to like her and watch her all the time but started finding her real shady years ago so never supported any of her launches.
If we don’t hold people accountable for their actions they’re just gonna keep making the same dumb mistakes
The scariest thing about her lipsticks for me was the misinformation SHE GAVE. I suffer from severe celiac as well as HIGHLY SEVERE allergies. So I have to watch cosmetics closely. Her lack of disclosure and finding contaminated bits in the lipsticks horrified me. If they were chunks of unmelted wax like was originally speculated fine. But they weren’t. That was proven, not only is it putting ALL consumers at risk, but what other contamination is happening??? How do I know her other products won’t cause an anaphylactic reaction because of some carelessness? credibility is everything. Should I contact a company like nyx and be able to prove contamination or a reasonable belief they made me sick, best bet I’d have a recall and a full apology within the day. Not a shove under the rug. Actions have consequences, and credibility matters.
I think that's why she hasn't started her own line fully is because she can't handle things truly professionally should something negative happen.....again.

Exactly; it's the issue of trust. Once you lose consumer trust in regards to your product, it's very difficult to ever earn that back.
You should do a video SPECIFICALLY on Morphe! The history, the eyeshadow, the collaboration, the drama, the formula, the open stores...

I've only ever bought one CZcamsrs collab and that was the Soph x Revolution eyeshadow pallets but those were like £12 and well I bought them cause I liked them not because of the collab, didn't even realise it was one until way later 🤦🏼♀️🤣
Other than that I never really understood the hype around collabs and having to buy every single item a CZcamsr comes out with

I don’t know about the other influencers but I feel like Jaclyn collabed with morphe again because that’s really the only brand that will collab with her now. I would assume that other legitimate brands would probably avoid Jaclyn whereas before (like 3 - 5 years ago) brands were dying to collab with her. Now her main options are morphe and her own brand.
In my opinion I think it’s to recover lost money from the lipsticks... releasing something under her own line is still a huge risk... under the umbrella of morphe the responsibility of quality falls on them not her

I agree with most of what your saying but I don’t think just because you have a brand doesn’t mean you can’t collab. For example outside of the beauty world food companies create products with other brands and clothing companies work with other brands, so I don’t think just bc someone has a beauty band doesn’t mean they can’t collab with others
I don't get why she's collabing with Morphe either. Especially because everyone was begging for new products from her own line. I'm not defending her in any way or form but in terms of makeup and color stories there is nothing that hasn't been done already. She has the worst track record of ALL TIME. She lost me after the abysmal launch/recall/"explanation" she had with Becca a few years ago. And she just keeps doing it!
So the algorithm just recommended this video to me again today after Jen Loves reviews just revealed Jaclyn and Morphe's straight up lied that the formula in the new palette is the same as in the original palette. Also it's super similar to the vault formula....
I remember her saying that she spent $100,000 on investigators and was waiting for reports. Of course this was never mentioned again. If she got reports she is keeping them to herself. Way sketchy.

The thing is, you can say she made a mistake and we have to forgive her, but first she has to address the situation and explain what happens, be clean, as a CEO of her brand, instead she took it personal, so unprofessional, and never explained what happened, so no matter what she does in the future, we will never know what actually happened on the lipsticks and that alone makes her brand a shitty brand that doesn't know how to deal with consumers and is not clear with us. So I will not be buying from her, ever, cause at this point she is never going to explain what happened.
Because we have to look at this movements as a brand CEO, not personal.

Christen Dominique is a brilliant example of a CZcamsr that runs their makeup brand really well. When her Lemonade palette dropped, people reported having trouble with the shimmers, and she immediately replaced everyone's palettes! Being a CEO means taking accountability for your brand's actions, not deactivating your social media accounts for a month and dodging any kind of accountability.

she also "sent the lipsticks off to a lab for testing" and then we never got the report from the testing
Look up Kenna here on YT. She had independent testing done (she's a research scientist and managed to find a lab that would do it). Chemically, they were safe, but fibers and metal still make them contaminated and unsafe. Either way, JH is still a shady businessperson who should be facing lawsuits, not a camera.

I finally unsubscribed to Jaclyn Hill and it broke my heart. I was an OG subscriber. Her videos used to make me so happy. It sucks so much to think about the person she is now. I agree with pretty much what Hannah said. Everything is just lies and manipulation from Jaclyn :/

I literally laughed out loud along with her stories and jokes and had a blast watching her. Then she stopped posting, then she had all the mysterious issues with her products, and now she just seems like she doesn't really give a shit about her subscribers at all. It's really sad, to be honest.

As much as Jaclyn believes that Morphe is at the basis of her success in this industry, I also believe that Morphe (Linda) is also at the basis or the reasons for her downfalls & failures too. Linda has NEVER.....NOT ONCE stepped up on Jaclyns behalf or taken responsibility for anything ever! Linda is not her friend. A friend would never use someone & throw them under the bus each and every time something has gone wrong the way Linda has with Jaclyn. Sadly Jaclyn has been too naive to see it. Linda has basically allowed Jaclyn to take the heat and shoulder all the burden of all of the failures ALONE - Linda has taken ZERO accountability; she’s even let Jaclyn shoulder burdens and been the scapegoat for things that weren’t even hers to handle. Yeah, but Jaclyn messed up her own lipsticks, and that had nothing to do with Morphe. Morphe is literally her crutch, because they still allow her to make products with them even though her own "bRaNd" failed so miserably. What baffles me the most is that after her lipstick controversy, she never even moved to update her brand with new, better lipsticks. No eyeshadows. Just shitty highlighters while she uses Morphe as her business crutch. Not saying Linda ISN'T shady, she totally is, and Morphe will never see a dime of my money because of it. But I don't think Morphe is the sole reason Jaclyn has been at the center of controversies.

I tried emailing, reaching out via dm on ig, Twitter, tweeting, commenting, everything for months to try to get a replacement with Gerard cosmetics and was ignored and then blocked the moment I made a public comment under a post asking for them to get back to me and that I had emailed them and never received a response. That was red flag #1.

I think morphe is backers or just gave them all the start up money for their companies and are contractually obligated to collab to pay the money back. I've thought this for quite sometime because it's the only physical place to buy jeffrees stuff.
It still bothers me that she claimed she spent so much money to get her lipsticks tested, then only came out with the results from “her” tests right after that one CZcamsr (I can’t remember her name) posted the results from the lab test she had done on them. I doubt she spent a penny on testing the safety of her lipsticks, because she didn’t think she had to after hearing her customers were doing that for her.

Kenna here on YT is a cosmetic chemist and sent out samples for independent testing. Chemically, they were deemed safe, but that doesn't extend to fiber and metal contamination. Consumers deserve better, and if she were a faceless brand, she'd have tanked long ago.

Why i stopped trusting Jaclyn Hill :
- the palette is litteraly the 35M (also by Morphe) with a couple of new shades... like, it looks really similar to me
- we never got our answers on the Vault palettes
- THE LIPSTICKS. I want to see the labs's tests results, are they really safe to use (*cough cough* of course not)
- litteraly every collab/product involved with her has an issue.

Preach sister! I was personally shocked that after the whole lipstick fiasco anyone would want to buy anything else she ever put out. It wasn’t that the corrupted products happened - but her shady, not-my-fault, no accountability response and lack of concern to make it right with her customers.

I actually didn’t like how she dismissed taking medication for her depression. Sometimes people really do have an imbalance and need medication to handle their depression. The way she describes how she doesn’t get out of bed all day she need to follow her doctors advice and doesnt encourage people to stop taking their medication
It’s disgusting that she discourages the use of medication. My medications not only saved my life, but helped me get control, be able to get more in my head so I was able to go to therapy, and helped calm my mania where therapy was further able to rid me of my mania. I everytime I skip a few doses I spiral downhill. Medication has saved my life and given my my life back by helping me get my head on straight and seek out more help via therapy. Medication isn’t for everyone, but it does help a lot of people and is beneficial.

I don’t watch her, but it’s disgusting if this is true. Medication saves people’s lives! I understand wanting to go about in a “natural” way, but it’s kind of perpetuating the stigma that people with mental health issues are weak and, if they would just pull themselves up by their bootstraps, they could get out of it. Mental health should be treated like physical health because it’s just as important and, at times, is a matter of life and death.
I watched all of Jaclyn’s original video and not once did she shame people who take medication for mental illnesses. She simply said she, herself, didn’t want to take medication. What’s wrong with that? Is she not “allowed” to have preferences?

You’re in recovery?! I had no idea, me too! This makes me love you even more. Jaclyn definitely sounds like she’s an alcoholic and she’s blessed to have the best access to rehab centers and sober coaches and other resources in order to get sober. “Celebrities” struggle with addiction just like us regular people struggle and I never couldn’t gotten sober without taking action and sticking with it. I use AA but there are a ton of other options out there.
