However, if you re just starting calistenics, in my opinion, you need a partner or a friend with knowledge about those exercises so he/she can check your form in every rep.
Some thoughts on these exercises: Ab wheel rollout progression: mark a spot on the floor where your body reaches maximum viable roll out. Roll out to that marker two to three times a week until a good number of sets and reps is reached, like 3x10. Then move the marker a small amount, and repeat the process until full roll out is achieved. 90 degree push up: Dive bomber pushups on handles seem like the beginner version of this movement. Use the movement path demonstrated in this video. For the next progression, divebombers with feet elevated. Also work static handstand holds and lower planche holds, using a box to support the feet. Move to handstand pushups using the same movement path and range of motion in this video as the goal. Rope climb: Take care of your hands; wearing gloves is an option, as is using chalk. Another easier exercise is staggered grip rope pull ups, from a seated position on the floor. Alternate hand position for each rep in a rest-pause manner, sitting on the floor while repositioning the hands. While this reduces time under tension, it enables you to get a good rep each time.
Sometimes, especially for complete beginners who have never worked out, using very light weights with very high reps is the best way to start. I'm 60 and I've always been a desk employee.. which equals very weak muscles. After retiring, I thought I should start working out a little, so I tried to do push-ups.. but I couldn't even do a single one.. not even in bad form. So, I started doing bench presses with very light weights (I'm talking 35 lb bar for bench presses!!) and doing 50 reps.. then when that became easy and I could do up to 80 or ninety.. then I would raise the weight. But when I say 60 reps.. I mean I can barely do that 60th rep.. so, basically.. very light weights and very high reps (or to failure as they say).. it has to be to failure to be beneficial. Anyway, after doing that for 3 months.. I tried doing push-ups and I was able to do 5 with strict form.. then I just kept going on with the weights and push-ups until I was able to do 15 push-ups with strict form. My point is, no matter what condition you're in and how weak your muscles are.. you can start very light.. and do reps to failure.. and keep working your way up.. keep doing more reps with the same weight or raise the weight.. and you will get stronger. Just start at the level you're at.. and don't say "Oh, I can't do that". I mean, I don't think anyone can possibly be as weak as I was when I started. :)
I would add that it is gratifying to feel the muscles ache. ( But this only happens after our body has learnt which muscles to use for what exercise) It takes a lot of time and pushing heavy weights by jerking them is to risk an injury.
Thanks a lot for your videos and advice, guys. Love your channel. And thanks for showing the variations that can be done first to be able to progress to the ultimate ones.
I have just learned after doing it for years and years that I have been arching my lower back when using the ab wheel. I m gonna try and correct my posture and see if that allows me to roll out from my toes and not just from my knees like I’ve been doing all this time. Thanks.
Really nice video. I especially like that you also show easier versions of the exercises, so you can work towards the most challenging versions. Thumbs up.
This is very much appreciated. Teaching myself to round the lower back may improve my low back condition after injury. I did push-ups all of my life from age 8 to 69, but now it hurts my low back so this training even on flat hands on a tile floor may help me. thank you.
@@1trillionviews516 Yeah, dude. It was just meant as a humoristic remark. As you might know 'Gras' is really just grass. So you I took it literal and wrote that this is true since you couldnt afford marijuana ;) PS: Don't tell the authorities
Cyrus Gauger, he said a common fault in execution causes you to end up in “posterior” tilt (while he is demonstrating anterior tilt). He then corrects using the appropriate posterior tilt, by using his abs to better counter gravity and his hip flexors. It’s a recording mistake. He’s probably thinking of the correction while still speaking about the fault.
Hello once again @Calisthenicmovement I have a very good question brought to attention and woken my curiosity quite a bit, so I wanted some professional consulting. Now, I did write a question in the same area of this new standpoint which was nearly 6 months ago in an older video. The older question was about one's joints popping/ cracking when performing exercises. Some friends of my parent, who is retired, came with an argument on why any sort of exercising and training COULD be dangerous and not worth it in the long run (at least when you're not a professional athlete workout in a sport/making a living of it). The standpoint: This man said: "...workout is just a quicker way to achieve osteoarthritis!" This seriously made me think - since I didn't have any spontaneous knowledge ready to carry on the conversation. So, plz, answer me this Calisthenicmovement to the best of your abilities: Will I in 10 years time have worn my joint and body so much as to feel like an old man? Do 100's and 1000's of reps tear so much on your joints? If you guys could make some sort of a video explaining, perhaps, that there is nothing to (really) worry about in terms of breaking down your body working out? And please mention joint popping/cracking an this "osteoarthritis" - Which is a brand new word in my vocabulary I learned just for this question? Should you just consult a physiotherapist? Greetings: from Denmark
This is all wrong. Here ill give you a full analysis of why its wrong: 1. Excersises are done for muscle memory and power/conditioning its most certainly better then being weak and fat. 2. We strenghten the muscles so that there is LESS wear and tear on joints and spine, so whatever your friend told you is a lie, your muscles need to be strong so that there is less pressure applied to your joints/spine, basically so that your muscles do the work. -if you dont trust me for this just google interior pelvic tilt and whats its caused by. it will explain a lot; 3. The ONLY joint that gets wear and tear over time is the knee joint as well as its surrounding carthrige and tendon; reason for that is because its the most used joint in the whole body and all your body weight pivots around it, so this basically affects every person at a certain age, sure an athlete will get it in his 50s or 60s a couch potato will get it at his 70s, its inevitable. 4. Breaking and popping in joints (without pain) is completely normal as well, it releases bubbles of water from your joint and in turn gives your joint its full range of motion. normal; 5. Wear and tear over time on your body from working out is minor compared to the wear and tear from acumulating a lot of body fat and mass, when you get fat thats when your joints and spine actually suffer, too much pressure is applied from your body weigh which in turn does real damage to, well, basically everything.
As long as you balance high impact workouts with stretching, which these guys recommend, you're not at higher risk of wear and tear of your joints than a couch potato, quite the opposite. You shouldn't listen to anyone who tells you that working out is bad for your body...Come on that's common sense.
@@asukachan07 Hey, I'll first of have to thank you guys for your feedback, I knew there where knowledge beyond the scope I wasn't totally aware of! Well, again, the point was just that I didn't have the info spontaneously ready for the conversation when it was needed! Another point of view from my families side is that it does lie in the family to feel hard work on the body - might sound odd, but let me elaborate. On my mothers side of the family, my aunt, who has a certain lack of strength in her body, she LITERALLY can't do a day's full work without having pain (pretty much) all over her body. She has had some operations on her shoulders various time. Bare in mind for the context that she has(as most of my family, besides my brother and I) never done workouts for the sack of being in shape and can barely help around the house, but does anyway as her husband did. My own fear concerning my family is that these weaknesses could be 'in me'. Yes, it is/was common sense, but didn't know what to argue with, besides any old(er) person in my family are so old schooled that you can't get through to them with new/modern proves cause they just think that what was right 40-50+ years ago is right to this day. Their brains are somewhat not to negotiate with! Thanks again for an eyeopener with this questioning about joint and pains whereabout, a topic I had not dived into! (had never heard about the comparison with those couch potatoes (I know the 'slang' word))
@@PUREpopcornskage42 Sorry that your family has a history of joint pain! What do the doctors say about that? Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi classes might help. I love the CZcams channel "Yoga with Adriene" it's beginners friendly. I used to mock yoga but ever since I started I feel like it fixes all my problems! Eating a lot of vegetables and herbs/spices (like turmeric, ginger, etc.) is excellent for joint health because they're full of anti-inflammatory molecules. A lot of (cooked) animal products trigger the immune system, so reducing meat, dairy and eggs might help too. I think the singer Ne-Yo went vegan because of issues with his knee joints. Your English is so good that it totally slipped my mind that you're from Denmark. If I used a weird expression let me know i'll explain. Cheers!
i would think some kind of boat supply company. What i am also wondering is what diameter rope to get. Different people have different size hands and finger lengths.. So am thinking a smaller hand person would want to get a smaller diameter rope and larger hand person would want to get a larger diameter rope. I think I would want to put some kind of shrink wrap over the rope.. not only to give it more grippiness but also make it easier to keep sanitary and clean between and before use. I am guesstimating he was using a 2 inch diameter rope in this video? I am also guessing that in a jam a person could find lower diameter rope and wind their own rope to the diameter that works best for them? And they could get the rope at a hardware store? Come to think of it, there is rope sold a rock climbing stores, and that rope could be wound to the larger diameters? Then I could bring a piece with a caribiner and use it at park or keep one in car trunk for workouts with it when ever i like. could even attach it to a fence with the modified rope climb?

I was just about to say the same thing. Good looks.
Oh man I thought the same thing. Thanks for saying it.
No he's saying about anterior fornix
Actually he was correct in calling it posterior pelvic tilt. When the pelvis tilts forward it is anterior and when it tilts backwards it is posterior
Yooooh this workouts r crazy. THANK YOU

Hello once again @Calisthenicmovement
I have a very good question brought to attention and woken my curiosity quite a bit, so I wanted some professional consulting.
The standpoint: This man said: "...workout is just a quicker way to achieve osteoarthritis!"
This seriously made me think - since I didn't have any spontaneous knowledge ready to carry on the conversation.
So, plz, answer me this Calisthenicmovement to the best of your abilities:
Will I in 10 years time have worn my joint and body so much as to feel like an old man?
Do 100's and 1000's of reps tear so much on your joints?
If you guys could make some sort of a video explaining, perhaps, that there is nothing to (really) worry about in terms of breaking down your body working out?
And please mention joint popping/cracking an this "osteoarthritis"
- Which is a brand new word in my vocabulary I learned just for this question?
Should you just consult a physiotherapist?
Greetings: from Denmark
The question is how will your body be in the same timespan if you just sit on the couch
This is all wrong.
Here ill give you a full analysis of why its wrong:
-if you dont trust me for this just google interior pelvic tilt and whats its caused by. it will explain a lot;
4. Breaking and popping in joints (without pain) is completely normal as well, it releases bubbles of water from your joint and in turn gives your joint its full range of motion. normal;
Cheers!
Translation: 4 exercises that normal folks can never do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
guys, you are the best ! :) very nice educational vid !
AWESOME WAY TO EXERCISE, AND AWESOME NARRATION.
Why does the thumbnail look like Dark Souls character creation screen...
Lol
where will I find this rope
i would think some kind of boat supply company.
I once made a thick rope for sled-pulling by braiding four ordinary 3/8" ropes together.
Your body is well define! You are amazing in your videos. Excellent workout!!
Finally a channel that talks about the serratus anterior as part of the core
