- My impressions of the 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo Comp, the first one delivered in the US.
I sell SRAM brake Deslackinators and Turbo Levo (up to) 38T chainguide adapters here: www.matter-replicator.com

You answered nearly every question I needed to hear. Great vid thankyou 10/10
Thanks for pointing out the difference between the 2018, 2019, & 2020 models. That info helped me finally pull the trigger on a 2020 base LEVO.
Finally got it.
LUV it!
Excellent description! I’m particularly impressed with it feeding the human component of pedaling to fitness trackers, and with the ability to set a target heart rate and have it adjust its assist.
HR assistance app ...fascinating! Well described sir , much appreciated
FYI Specialized has a manufacturer store front in Costa Mesa California. I got mine August 31st from the specialized store in Costa Mesa. Many others came through the store that weekend, you definitely got one of the first few. Loving the bike!
Damn... that's awesome!!!
Thanks for sharing your impressions,..also for your comparism thoughts between the Giant and Speci,...i might switch from my Trance e SX to this one...
Great review.
I'm curious about shuttle mode,, as it apparently increases the power to "peak" for climbs. Does it really make that much of a difference vs. turbo mode?
Very cool you got a 2020.
A word on suspension with lower weight riders.........The fork may have a bottomless token in it already. So, that may affect what pressure does what on bottom out.
Also, I'm jealous.
Also, again, You must have smooth trails there to run that low of tire pressure.
Keep riding it........
Get insurance on the phone now. A phone on the bars is a recipe for disaster.
Also, I agree with you on the Spec tires..............they suck on roots/rocks that have any kind of wetness
That phone is only $114 USD brand new (BV6000s). It is too inexpensive to insure because insurance should be reserved for items that are too expensive to be able to afford to replace. Also it is a ruggedized phone made from machined aluminum and polycarbonate with Gorilla glass.
It came with a bag of tokens, so I assume there are none inside it.
@@rsilvers129 It would be worth checking out. Most Rock shox come with tokens installed.
@@downhilljedi New info. I did open them. Both were totally stuffed with tokens. I removed them. Suspension is good now.
Great review. Can you pls share a long term test review as I considering buying a used model and keen to know how many miles one should expect out of both the battery and motor thanks.
So what tires can be fitted to the rear? Looks like there isn't much space left over for a mud tire or something like a magic mary. What do you think?
First thing to do is remove that saddle bag before it ruins your dropper's stanchion and seal, second thing to do is get a PLANET3 for this.. made a compatible version literally yesterday. :)
Thanks. I removed it and ordered a black Shimano storage bottle. I am concerned about a mechanical part wearing out. It would be great to have data where 10 bikes are run until failure and then know the mean and standard deviation of lifespan. If you want me to test it, I can do a video of it.
@@rsilvers129 That would kinda take a long time to test. Especially since I made special tools to assemble the PLANET3 onto a drill and "rode" it like that to failure on multiple units. Essentially, 10 000 miles is the warranty period I'm giving on wear and tear if installed properly. Some larger units (for older Levo, Kenevo, Vado, Como) actually stop wearing all together due to larger surface areas and weaker magnets. After the initial 0.04 mm of wear to the planet's base, it stops, all the surfaces are polished and it just works forever basically. I should make it wear faster and sell spare parts! :P
How's the bike? Any issues? Why not the sl?
What model Topeak bag is that underneath your seat? Also when you drop the seat down does the bag interfere with the tire at all?
Can you compare the aluminium comp 2020 frame to carbon comp 2019 frame? Is this bike much heavier? They downgrade the frame in 2020 comp model...
Hi.
i also have a turbo levo comp 2020
its a beutiful bike! its a dream .)
Never rode it on the vid ?
That bike is beautiful. Still too expensive though.
What's the App you're talking about? I mean for the set up of the fork etc. Nice Vid
RockShox app.
hello my friend! nice vídeo. How it's the range of this bike?
I have been trying to decide on the Giant trance E+pro 0 for $7700.00 or the Specialized Turbo Levo Comp at $7700.00.
If you are really unhappy with the fork you can upgrade to the newer dampner for about $250.00. I am picking up the same bike this week and I already plan on upgrading the fork internals and tires.
I fixed it. Turns out it had two tokens in them. I removed them and all is good now.
@@rsilvers129 how many tokens did your bike come with altogether? I got 2 in a pack with my 2019 levo, but I'm not sure if there are any installed?
What's your height und weight that you drive a M Frame? Would be interesting cause i wanna buy 1 of these.
Hey there. I’m seriously considering a 2020 levo and not sure i need the up level bikes. Are you saying the base 2020 model is good enough for someone who doesn’t require all the major bells? Can you get 25 miles using the battery aggressively? I’m about 165lbs. Thanks for your reviews and insight!
Now that the base level has a dropper and 35mm forks, I think it is good enough to get. Yes, you can get 25-35 miles on the trail with the base battery but not at 100% power. At 33% assist it will be ok, and that is plenty fun to ride at. That being said, I got the Comp model for the 700Wh battery, and enjoy having more battery life for when I want to use 100% power.
I see. I haven’t yet riden one yet so i don’t know what to expect. Got a demo day coming soon and will see for myself i guess. Thank uou
Is the aluminium frame much heavier than 2019 carbon comp frame? Also there is no walk assist in specs with 2020 model - is it heavy to push up steep hills?
You're supposed to ride it up steep hills, climate change.
There is a walk assist on it. I too have a 2020 levo comp.
please put cabel from front brake inside of fork. Like this you will destory brake cabel if u fall
I did it.
On My one Turbo Levo FSR
2019 appear some cracks on frame nearly rear
triangle mount (engine side)
Specialized don't wanna exchange my frame
becouse is „after test"... 60miles around the shop
2 years ago. My one cracks... yours can too.
Hows the bike 2 years later 👍🏻
This or Haibike Flyon Xduro 10.0 ?
You have a size M and for information how tall are you? I am undecided whether to take an M or L,
173cm. There is a size chart on their website. It says I am in the center of Medium.
@@rsilvers129 Thanks
Difference between 2020 vs 2021?
Excuse me, but comp or m5 model??? In my opinion this is no comp but it is a M5
thats in Canada
2021 has fox and slx
Dhf all the way get wt
I got WT and EXO+
How heavy is the bike?
Spd pedals? No
Yes.
Why not ?
The motor will stop working. The motor will only last two or three months. Do not buy one of these bikes.
Update: Turns out front and back suspension had tokens. I removed them. Suspension feels normal now, so that is all good.
Also ordered 3C DHF and DHR2 tires in 2.6 EXO+.
Also changed to 36T chainring.
Also removed saddle bag and use a Shimano water-bottle shaped container.
I may cut the handlebars down by around 30mm per side.
I agree that the original handlebars are too wide for narrow trails and going between cars, but I think you will find taking off 30mm is too much. I did that on my 2018 TLevo and ended up feeling I needed 10mm more on twisty trails. I solved that by inserting and gluing an aluminum tube with the same OD as the handlebar ID and slipping a 10mm section back on. It handles good and only caused a problem fitting the bar grip ends, but I just had to cut them down a bit. About the tires, I think the 2.6 BLK DMD Eliminator is fantastic and it works better on the front than on the rear. I'd just swap the Butcher to the back. I'd be very interested to hear your comparison of the DHF and the Eliminator BLK DMD on the front. I am happy to know about your fix with the suspension tokens. I've ordered a Fox 36 Grip 2 to replace the terrible RS Revelation that I have. Great video. Thanks so much and happy trails!
@@GordonGrams I just climbed a 23% dirt grade with the DHR2. I don't think the Butcher could do that. Also the Butcher is really light for a rear tire. I think 820 grams.
As for the bars, at first I thought they were too narrow, but then I realized I didn't move the brake levers in. Now they are good. If I wanted them a little wider again, my Ergo Grips are very rigid and I could just clamp them down protruding 10mm extra on each side easily enough.
@@rsilvers129 Hey Robert. I ran 2.8 650b Butchers (original equipment) front and rear for about a year but I found the front was too skittish on loose gravel. I've been using a 2.6 Eliminator on the front for the past few months and feel it is really planted and the stiff sidewalls work very well. In any case, I just got back from my LBS and thanks largely to your video I will have my new 2020 Turbo Levo comp next week. If you hadn't had such a positive result from removing the suspension tokens I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger on this. Thanks!
I just received my 2020 Turbo Levo Comp and asked the bike shop to remove tokens from front fork and rear shock. They removed 2 tokens from front fork but said there were no removable tokens in rear shock. Can you give me any more detail on what you removed from rear shock? Thanks for an informative video.
Aaron Bond Maybe yours was different. Or maybe they think the tokens were spacers that had to stay. Or maybe I took out something that had to stay.
But probably you have tokens and they didn’t know what they were.
It’s as simple as this. Set preload for 20-25 percent. Go for hard ride. If you don’t use up nearly all of the travel, then you either weigh much less than my 64kg, or there are tokens in there.
