Likely Jehovas witnesses. Just a guess but they do come in pairs door to door. I think they believe that the more conversions they attain the more likely they make it to heaven/closer to God in heaven…something like that idk.
Or it could just be any other Christian, who just want to see people make it to heaven.

@@wrothcoyote7254 yea, the Jehovah's witnesses take the 144thousand (or whatever it is) as the only ones to make it to heaven. They think all the other believers will be brought back to life and everyone else just stays dead. It's less toxic world view then some christan sects but, the rest of their practices built around it are unfortunately not so harmless and very controlling (ie: you should not date, marry, or have close friends with other people).
My ex was one of them (we broke up for unrelated reasons) but, seeing how much internal conflict she had about dating someone who was not a witness as a teen is, unnerving to say the least.

I am constantly amazed to learn how many people aren't just direct and honest with people. It solves so many problems.

Issue is that in our society, that's not seen as ideal in many cases because it can save time / feel nicer (in theory) to have excuses. It's a way to try to be civilized
As someone who prefers being honest, i understand why it's something you'd wanna do but i think it's flawed because it's often too obvious or it doesn't work as intended

@chachachi-hh1ks for some churches (like mine) it's a full time commitment for a certain length of time (18-24 months in my church's case). After that they return home and go to college or get a job and live their normal life.
Well it hurt me every time someone did. I never got used to it the years I was out. I knew it would happen though and I still think of it being the best two years of my life.

Back in the 80s..
I once told them "I wasn't interested because I was a devil worshiper" thinking they would leave and never come back.
3 days later, they returned with their pastor. He was trying to find out more about it like where we meet and crap then I noticed a couple dozen people in the front yard praying. Vans and station wagons were pulling up letting people out so they could pray too. It scared the neighbors to the point one of them called the law.
I had a fun day trying to explain that I only said I was a devil worshiper hoping they would leave and never come back. I had to explain that to the pastor, the cops that showed up, my parents who somehow found out, every one of my neighbors and half the block who were highly interested by this time.
And the worst part is that the cops cited me for having a public gathering over 50 people without notifying the city first. I never knew that was a thing but i didn'thsve the gathering. I fought it and won though.

I don't hesitate to say I'm not interested when they come to my door. I know people hesitate because they think it sounds rude but it really isn't. I figure, I don't want to waste their time, so I just tell them. They're then able to move on to someone else who may be interested.

Now if they can't take a hint then I'll tell them such. But to honest, i havent seen a door to door religious person since the 90s. Which is weird cuz thats both my own religion not visiting (which wouldn't be necessary since I have a church home) nor the other common religions in my area even though i do see the mormons on their bikes riding around.

good. in my religion everyone spends a year of their life doing this. I'm not old enough yet but my dad says that he would rather people just tell him than waste his time because there r other people out there who will decide to go to church and receive the gospel.

Edit Y’all are admirable but I really do not think what were probably mormon missionaries have _any_ concept of legal blindness’s various incarnations. Mormonstories podcast has hundreds of interviews with exmo’s who were explicitly taught to argue their doctrine and church attendance (which isn’t free, btw) was more important financially than, for instance, affording food.

Some people are legally blind. They could still have enough vision to read large print if they really put their mind to it.
My 3rd or so cousin is legally blind.
20/80 or so.
He has a projector to blow up text to crazy large size to read.
(If you ever played with the font size on word pad/microsoft word, its like the crazy large font size of 82 for him to "see")
So yeah it IS a thing. So blind doesnt always mean 0 visibility. I mean who likes splitting hairs with every blind person to confirm which definition of blindness they technically would be classified as.
But for clarity purposes yeah there's fully blind and legally blind. (Oh and the other type color blind)

I was either expecting 1) them to start praying for you to be “cured” 2) them to come back with a Braille pamphlet or 3) (the one I was mostly expecting) him to go “oh that’s no problem, I can read it to you”
number 1 only really applies to some religions, my experience personally as an ex/pimo jehovahs witness, they dont pray for god to cure you, they just pray that you'll come to their kingdom halls and start studying the bible or whatever so you can (literally) make it through armageddon alive and into the new system (i hate this belief 😭)

I always feel bad because I know they get a lot of shit from people, especially if they are young and doing their obligatory mission. I usually just offer a non-caffinated drink and let them practice their speech.

I used to do the same until the Bishop found out they were allowed to vent (complain) while at our home and then they started telling the kids they couldn't come by. They still did and when they saw the kids were actually studying The Bible and not pushing Mormonism as much then they tried to say I was "too friendly" with the boys.
The book of Mormon contradicts Scripture in so many ways but you can't point that out without an argument. They're indoctrinated young.

As someone who does door to door preaching, don't worry about saying no thanks or not interested. It's not an obligation or anything, and we absolutely understand if you don't wanna get involved

I say this as a returned missionary from a church. I promise. If you say "I'm sorry, but I'm really not interested", we are not offered. Just be honest. It saves everyone so much time! And I mean that in the sweetest way possible. We don't want to make people miserable. You can't convert if you are the one making them miserable. Like don't go out of your way to be mean about it, of course. That's not cool. But just be straight with folks and all is good
This ☝️ I believe in a supreme being that is taking care of things in our daily lives and follow the basic principles of the Ten Commandments to the t. I Have a good relationship with the savior. And that’s it. No religion really. Most of them are all hypocrites. Life is good and I respect and expect y’all to stop when I’m not interested. Not trying to continually try to convert me so much that it feels like harassment.
Sadly, not everyone is like that. Some folks can be extremely pushy and see "no thanks" as a challenge.

I wish more missionaries had that philosophy but unfortunately, that isn't my experience the majority of the time. Some of the confrontations have been downright scary because they won't take no for an answer.
One particularly bad incident happened just last month. I am a wheelchair user and was in the disabled stall in the bathroom at my college when one of the religious groups just finished their service across the hall. A bunch of people came into the bathroom and this one lady had this script she went through as she talked to each person, trying to get them to come to the service next week. I wanted no part of this so I stayed in the stall hiding for about 15 minutes until she left....except she hadn't left. She was silently waiting for me to come out around the corner by the door so I would just think she had left. She starts her script and I'm trying to get out of there telling her I'm an atheist and not interested but she took this as some sort of challenge. She also made some really rude incorrect assumptions about why I was an atheist having to do with my disability. She asked if she could pray for Jesus to heal my leg and I flatly tell her that no amputee has ever had a leg grow back from prayer and its not like she was the first to try. I go to wash my hands and she turns the water on for me...ok. I finish and go to get some paper towels that were easily in my reach but she grabs them first then starts drying my hands for me like I'm a small child. Weird, weird, weird! I felt violated because she touched me without my consent but also condescended to. She started to follow me out of the bathroom but I was so freaked out by that point I straight out told her to leave me alone in a loud firm voice with a tinge of fear in it and she finally gave up.
My dad used to invite them in for a beer 😂 💜💜💜

And like I said, you don't really go out thinking your going to meet a fully blind person.

This is a nice way to say it but it’s also not true in this situation. He did lie. It’s not like they’re going to be hurt, or call the police, or become violent upon hearing that he lied. If you ever watched anything growing up, you should know that lying more will never get you out of a lie.
I once thought a Jehovah witness was the pizza guy, and was not having a good day so before he said anything I said “I’m sorry I don’t care, I thought you were the pizza guy” and after I went back to the couch, he kept knocking for like 2 minutes. My brother came out and I said “don’t open that door.” He asked why and I told him, and we laughed out asses off.

Most of them dont go away ive had jhovas whitnesses come to my door 5-6 times after we told them to go away we arent intrested we normally dont answer the door anymore ive seen it that they just sit outside ur propperty till u either answer or you get back home im just glad my grandad had scared them off for good by telling them the truth of im super religious

@@gexyvr8212 Well, they aren't happy when somebody doesn't follow their ways. For example, if I did not read bible and did not cite any of verses, they would say, " Oh, poor guy, I am surprised that people aren't reading Bible. This is really sad!"
