Well now I'm embarrassed

- I was aware that I have a nystagmus, meaning that my eyes wiggle back and forth very rapidly, but I was under a couple false preconceptions about the whole thing. first of all, I didn't know it was all that noticeable and second, I thought it only happened when I was looking directly into a particular light source light the light in my studio where I record these things. I had no idea that it was happening all the time during all conditions. Now I'm all kinds of self-conscious about it.

Nystagmus is more common in blind people (though there are a bunch of other causes as well) & iirc, it’s actually more common in blind people that went blind over time as opposed to being born blind or sudden blindness due to trauma to the eye. Don’t feel self conscious, you’re an awesome dude & if people can’t get past a little eye movement- then they can suck an egg
Il suck your egg
I have nystagmus but I’m not blind. People always ask if I’m okay due to my head shaking to correct my eyes since they shake.
Individuals who are albino also have nystagmus. There’s a comedian name Nathan who’s is albino who has the same condition and is legally blind, check him out he’s hilarious.
There is a day uk in March in the UK that celebrates nystagmus called wobbly Wednesday. It was started by the nystagmus network.
It can also occur in people having seizures
Molly Burke has that too, she calls them her dancing eyes!
she and I did a video together in my booth. I wonder if you can see both of oru eyes dancing at the same time

Everyone's eyes do it! They vary how much from person to person, and our brains ignore that motion. It's so cool!
Pete NEVER EVER feel embarrassed…. Besides you are usual doing some epic crazy adventure… who’s watching your eyes…not usual what I’m focused on👍
Wow I never noticed that.
Pete, you're awesome, just the way you are. ❤️
Lots of people have nystagmus, even people who are seeing. I also have a cat with nystagmus, doesn't make me love her any less!
Lucky banana being able to gaze lovingly into your eyes.
All we get to see is sunglasses😂😂😂
You look good dude! don't worry! Love from Brazil
Hey Pete! I am basically blind in my right eye and diminished vision in my left. I have been asked, Do you know your eyes are shaking?" I have alwo been asked by a police officer if I had been drinking because apparently when people drink a good bit, it can cause nystagmus (eye shaking) it used to bother me too, but hey man we just have a cool superpower!
I think it be cool to have slow mo guys record the wiggle. They filmed eyes before.
That’s rough! Thanks for sharing this with us… so you know, online, even close up, I couldn’t see it. You are so natural when you talk, and your eyes look normal, it doesn’t look like you are blind… (not sure if that makes sense). You have a great smile for sure! And I like your voice. But I think the most attractive thing about you is your openness and good attitude! But you are cute too, so I would date you if I wasn’t married. 😅
Either way your a positive influence on so many people, REM can happen to you at anytime, nothing to worry about. As always your buddy Bryan Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
REM Happens. LOL
@@BlindSurfer Rapid Eye Movement. REM
Wow, that's crazy. Greetings from South Africa
Don't be embarrassed about it. 1) You couldn't control it (thus couldn't help it), 2) it's cool. It doesn't change who you are.
Yeah, my eyes move around all the time as well. It's hard to focus on a point when you can't see lol. I just stopped caring about it a long time ago lol
Hey Pete, i have a blind little brother that i practically raised and you are a huge inspiration for me! Nystagmus (eye shaking) is common in blind people! Its just your eyes trying to search for information it can't find so they just shake about.
Never noticed while watching your videos because you are an animated person in general. I couldn't see it in this video either and I was actively looking for it.
Pete gathers no moss.
i never noticed until this video, but i usually just listen. 😊
I haven't noticed until you told this 😅
It might feel like a bad dream, but you have inspired, and made life so much better for so many people.
Always remember that.
Agree with banana
There was a lad in my class who had shaky eyes, but he wasn't blind. We'd notice it, but pay no attention to it. I can't say I've ever noticed your eyes wiggle in a video before, don't feel bad about it ❤
Weird is a side effect of being AWESOME
This just makes your eyes cool
Aw that broke my heart when he said maybe he will wake up and be able to see and it was just a bad dream.
Don't worry about it Pete. My wife does this too. It is like she is looking back and forth from one of my eyes to the other.
He he! Awesome dude👍 RIP Superdoggo❤
(No, I'm not bored, I'm mimicking being asleep, like you mentioned.)
I have nystagmus too! I'm partially sighted, so I can record a video and see how much my eyes shake (its super weird to watch since I dont see them shakimg when I look in a mirror).
People have assumed I have social anxiety or that I'm high, but people generally just don't mention it
She didnt have to stop on his confidence
?
I only noticed because my eyes do that, too and i am not blind. My niece who is 6 informed me the other day that her eyes shake, too
My daughter went through school with that condition, and you know how kids are…..so when you are worried about the Nystagmus, think of my daughter. She was a trooper, and got through it. She is now 36, and she still kicks butt! I could see you were struggling with it, it takes nothing away from the fun loving guy you are. You could make it part of your tee shirt…Blind surfer, with Nystagmus! 😁
I want to awake from visual imparment too, like a bad dream.
Pete your so wholesome & kind. Even if your eyes do wiggle.
Alot of people, blind or not, have that issue. Not a big deal. You the Champ Pete
Amazing! For once, none of the comments say “First” can we keep it this way?
Have to agree. It's not off putting, just kinda fascinating, don't worry about it. Also, if it helps and is a little less confusing, I'd describe your eyes as brown. So maybe up close and not through a camera lens, they'd be kind hazel? Since hazel eyes have flecks of lots of colours?
It's just a bad dream 🤣🤣 at least the eye twitch helps people keep eye contact even though your blind ❤
Wow this was uploaded 3 minutes ago, love your content dude
I have pretty severe nystagmus. I’ve always known it. I don’t really think about it.
Your brain is searching for visual input 😂
I've never noticed this until now, just for the record
Nystagmus is diagnostic fir benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) in sighted people. It's a very common, treatable condition of the inner ear. But it's weird to see everything around you seem to vibrate until the crystals in your head settle down...
Oh man, I DIDN'T have nystagmus when I had BPPV, which kinda confused my doctor for a bit. My BPPV was AWFUL though - I know why they call it "benign" but IMO that is a MASSIVE misnomer. 😅 I literally couldn't sit up by myself half the time!
I didn’t notice and I’ve been watching your videos for about a year. Now that you said something I’m trying to see it and still can’t. But my right eye is legally blind so maybe it’s me.
We love and miss superdog
I just subscribed to you dude 😊
No They don't look weird. people just think that you're looking around their face while you're talking to them
I didn't notice it.
It’s actually normal for blind people to have shaky eyes. The eye is trying to focus on something but… obvious reasons they can’t. Someone I went to school with was blind and their eyes were shaky. One of my uncle’s was blind and he too had shaky eyes.
I literally never noticed them moving.
R.I.P super dog
Face to face maybe more noticeable, but nah! It’s not obvious at all. At least not on video.
I can rapid wiggle my eyes on purpose and I know I’m not unique in that.
It's fine! Don't even worry about the little wiggle! They're just doin'a little boogie.❤
i’ve literally never noticed that your eyes wiggle 😂
That eye color is called hazel. You've been told that they're different colors your whole life because they actually are! Hazel eyes are just several layers of different iris colors, and the colors that can be noticablly seen occasionally change. I have hazel eyes too and I've been told they were brown, blue, green, grey, etc.
I can wiggle my eyes like that on command, it's fun to freak people out with lol. Now that I think about it though, it's hard to tell you're doing it without the visual cue, I can't feel the motion when I close my eyes and do it.
Mine does it too especially if I drink to much or maybe one to many Xanaxs lol
I've never seen them wiggle.
My eyes also do that i can see fine but it is a pain in the ass to focus them to read something far away
I never noticed
I legit never noticed
I think the weirdest thing about this short popping up for me today is that for some reason this morning I was waking up thinking about how sometimes on this channel people try and claim you're faking it. But I was like no he does the eye wiggle thing, that's really really hard to fake so no (and yes sleep brain made that thought as silly sounding as it seems). It was so random, and running into this video after waking up to that thought is just the funniest thing. I feel like it's one of those things you pick up on if you have friends that are blind/very low sighted but something I feel like a lot of people don't realize is even a thing for a lot of people with sight degradation. (And no, that's not implying it happens for everyone so it's not implying that a lack of eye wiggle = faking it)
I got the same issue.
I hadn’t noticed the eye movements…
I ever noticed it on your videos until you mentioned it. Now I see it, but since you move your head around as you talk I feel like I would have to be tracking your eyeballs all around with a hard stare to notice it much.
Eyes wiggle like that when they are unfocused and can't "see". When you open the eyes of someone who is sleeping, their eyes move around trying to focus on something, but can't as they are... well... asleep.
Same thing if you are blind, eyes can't focus on light and so they move around trying to "see" something!
Nystagmus is such a weird disorder
Hey pete nice shirt ❤
My eyes do that under lighbulbs that pulse, instead of glow. Flourescent and LED make my eyes twitch side to side, because my eyes can see the pulsing, but my brain can't process that data fast enough. This causes eye strain and head aches.
Yes, so much fun, that the only lightbulbs I can use, are banned once, again.
OH, IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS, BUT I'M NOT BLIND.
You have hazel eyes then.
Yeah! Weirdness connects us all! Everyone is weird. The extent varies. But being normal would really be what would be weird lol. Enjoy your weirdnesses everyone!
On my phone your eyes look brown, a nice, dark chocolate brown.
his eyes aren't dark brown, the beach shot is overcast, and he's wearing a dark hat, and the interior lighting of the house may be suitable for a video, it's not ideal for specifically seeing eye coliour.
watch his "home video" on his channel
the video's title starts with "This blind guy is "
there is a relatively close shot of his face with good lighting 1 second into the video
If I remember correctly, you mentioned this in a previous video a while back and we could see it. I might be misremembering, but that's normal for my exhausted brain anymore.
I did mention it a while ago in that Brooks had zoomed in many times on my eye and said he could see it wiggling. I was completely unaware that you could see it with the naked eye at all times. That kind of startled me
Your eyes are beautiful... Its common for blind people to have eyes that do that. No worries 😁
I never noticed that actually.
Hi Pete, big fan. How are you
I have nystagmus and my focal point in my dominant eye is off center and so this causes some weird stuff. First my eyes shake which makes me look like I’m on drugs and some times when trying to focus in on something “far” from me I turn my head to the side a little and then shake my head ever so slightly and all of this I don’t even realize I’m doing…….fml. I get ya man. I really hope you read my comment, being visually impaired can really be embarrassing sometimes, not that I’m ashamed but sometimes it’s just nice to fly under the radar.
You're the coolest dude 😎
I only just noticed they move…
he moves his head so much when he talks in his vids, I never noticed until he said something
Imagine you're trying to sleep right now and have text to speech on and I'm just messaging to see if you still have it on lol!
You have nice eyes Pete.
I have to say Pete, I don't think I've ever noticed from your videos that your eyes wiggle.
It's more common than you think. I've known a couple people that had the eye moving thing. Not weird.
It's noticeable but not in an off-putting way at all. And it's gentle enough that you only really notice it when you focus closely on your eyes.
That would be hazel eyes and they don't seem to " wiggle" you're fine bro
I've never noticed! It's not super noticable on a phone.
I love your vids
my eyes also move around all the time. i can never focus on one thing for long because of it. plus, i often stare off into the distance too 😛
I have mild tourettes and it used to make me wink and roll my eyes... It was really akward
I can't even notice them wiggle at all
I’ve never noticed that your eyes twitch until now.
now that you mention it i can see it a little
The eye color is probably brown, or dichromatic hazel/brown. Dichromatic is when your eyes move between 2 eye colors and they're usually more sensitive to light. Hazel has a mixture of browns, greens, blues, and they're very unique looking in comparison to a flat brown because they're interlaced between each other to then create a more mixed color like how a painting mixes colors together from afar, but you can pick out the colors if you get close. Your eyes appear brown in the video, at least to me so I'm taking their words on the things I probably can't see and taking a gander at what fits.
I don't notice in the videos!
Dancing eyes 👀 ✨️ 😍 ♥️ 💙 💕 👀 ✨️ 😍 ♥️ 💙 💕 👀 ✨️ 😍 ♥️ 💙
I never noticed it in your videos. They don't move (distance) that much, just a little.
I actually never noticed 😅
