As a V2 owner, this video nails it. When I was in the market to replace my 848, I had my mind set on a V4S, until I rode the V2. As a rider who does most of my riding on the street, it has the perfect amount of power, while still having all of the fancy electronics of the V4. Perfect all around street bike IMO.

I would probably not get a super-bike in India and probably stick with going with a dual-sport bike or something. If you have club track membership or something maybe get it for fun but then you would have to also get a truck and other utility. Additionally, the chance of the bike getting damaged, broken, etc it much higher. This is coming from an indian-american dude btw. I've ridden in the US and India, both have their problems but unless you are a track guy or are able have been riding for a really long time, I would want to ride a really fast, flashy, easy to break, expensive liter bike everywhere.

I disagree with the thought that “Ducati owners are going to judge you if you buy a V2” completely. As an owner of V2 since July, all I have received is compliments and praise from other motorcycle owners and Ducati owners. Several people have told me that I bought the right bike and they’re right. Having ridden a V4R it’s way to fast for the street and totally unusable.
I agree that there aren’t enough aftermarket parts available, but hopefully 2021 brings more of them.

Then you have a true number on what the bike delivers. As we all know the smile you have when riding is the ultimate test. As Metallica says “ Nothing Else Matters” Happy New Year! Best!

I went from a '16 R1 (insanity on two wheels) to a 959....loved the 959 but sold it to pick up a V2. Briefly considered trading up to a V4, but after taking one for a test spin, it reminded me of my days on my R1 where the bike was trying it's best to kill me. The 959 and especially the V2, is the sweet spot, IMO. Ducatis are special, performance numbers aside....the cachet of the brand also has value.

The simple fact the V2 is a v-twin is pretty much the best reason to get it and pass on the V4. Ducati is known for their v-twins and nothing sounds like a big bore v-twin. The way v-twins put power down makes then beautiful to ride. I can’t speak on how a v4 feels but I love that Ducati stuck with the v-twin even though the have branched off in another direction

If all else fails and peer status means so much, the v2 sticker can be removed.
End of the day it's a beautiful red Italian stallion, the posterchild of modern rebel promiscuity.
I would like to have one of these when I get older as a bike to simply look at and ride around in small jaunts.
The only people that would care if it's a v2 or v4 would be people looking to put someone down. I doubt a mature rider well off enough to afford a v4 would bat an eye. Perhaps a new young rider that didn't pay for it themselves would be critical, but who should care what someone like that would have to say?
Safe riding everyone n happy new year :)

Sure, it is great fun but I don´t see any place around where I can make reason of that insane power, can´t even rev in 3rd because you are so much over any speed limit... I think the V2 just gives you the opportunity to rev while not hitting the sound barrier immediately

I still have my “12” 848 Evo Corse & don’t want to trade across to the V2 because it’s one of the last V-twin with a trellis frame, a Ducati lineage. I actually would love to add that to my 848, you get to have the quintessential Duke & then the new monocoque frame with the latest rider aids, with more power.

First bike was 959, didn't know anything about motorcycles or that V4 was coming out. Traded it in for V4 year later because I wanted a literbike. Obviously wasted a ton of cash on the 959. Just buy the real thing or regret it forever. V4 is easier to ride in every way! And blisteringly fast! Not to say I don't miss the twin sometimes 🥲

I would dig deep into my pockets for a bike like that, but the heat issue is a big turn off. I am not sure if a carbon fiber cover would make that much of a difference. Can anyone share their experience with the heat shield?

The answer is actually quite simple to Spite's question. The reason is Ducati bikes have a soul which you can feel when you ride one ..and the rice burners do not. 🤔😎

Forget the Japanese liter bikes, (which would be less comfortable) and ask yourself if you're going for a long trip or all day ride someplace why you'd pay that much for a bike that roasts your nuts after 45 minutes and is almost impossible to find neutral?
How about a choice between that bike or a brand new Hayabusa (seriously) which I'm thinking would cost a thousand or two less? Yes the Hayabusa is heavier, but on a longer trip the Suzuki will be much more comfortable, not just for a rider, but passenger too, ... and in the long run would probably be more reliable. Yes I am a Suzuki fanboy. lol
By the way Happy New Year to everyone and ride safe in 2021. :)

A really concise and great yarn. Me I love the V2 but as I have not ridden in quite some time ( have not even driven a 4 wheeler )
[ due medical/health] I am going with a 1200 monster. The V4 yes a fantastic bike, but like a lot of the Ducatistahahaha I will not come come close getting the 100% out of that cat probably not even 80%. Anyway I am subscribed and like button smashed. Thanks, you guys a great. Big shaka’s fm Oz 🤙 🦘

It's all about the top shelf components off of the showroom floor. Not to mention braided steel brake lines, quality brake pads, and quality hardware they use to put Ducatis together. Back in the days when they were hand built, only women were allowed to build the motors because they would build them as if their children were riding the bikes, no joke. This philosophy carries over today. Not many Japanese bikes come with adjustable, let alone high end, suspension and brakes like Ducs do either and if you were to equip a Japanese bike in similar fashion you'd end up spending more than if you just bought the Duc. Don't get me wrong, Japanese bikes are awesome and offer fantastic performance for dollar, but Ducs really are a solid value when you factor in the build quality.

I have a 959 and definitely would not call it “easy”. It has one of the most aggressive seat positions and kinda difficult throttle control - it’s not happy under 3-4k rpm. I recently rode a new gen s1000rr and it felt like a scooter it was so easy compared to the 959 (obv i know it’s faster).
