Please make an episode on indian khanda sword it's great.
It's indian broad sword
Therapist: Jack Blacksmith isn't real, he cant hurt you
Jack Blacksmith:
Best pun comment bro.
"IT WILL NOT KEAL"
hurts so much listening to that...
Everybody gangsta untill....
I was so sad when he said that.☹️
8:42
Yup, quite devastating to hear that from Doug.
@Bevan Wade they are typing it the way he pronounces it
these are THE two most wholesome contestants ever.
Fax bro
Me: Huh this seems like a re-upload
Also me: I'll watch the entire video and maybe I'll remember
it's the clamshell
Yea I did the same but I don't mind watching reruns
Tobin looks and sounds like if Jack Black was a blade smith
Exactly what I was thinking
Yup
I thought to be the only one noticed that lol
Jack Blacksmith
yes
I like Tobin. He's just out there having fun! He was really excited through out the whole test. "Time to test your blade and see if it gets destroyed" Tobin "YESSSSSSS!" love his laugh! Also like his reaction to the fish and rope, couldn't have said it better!
7:06 no clue why his reaction was so funny to me😆 "Ron's blade doesn't go through the fish but it cuts the rope...huh🤣
Same ahah I mean I'd be confused as well... he isn't wrong to be confused either Doug just didn't swing the two swords the same and the edge geometry was off
Actually, that was my confusion, too. Tobin’s blade was sharp enough to cut through fish and melon. There was no way his Cutlass gave that rope a club-like strike. I feel like Doug just didn’t give it enough force. But overall, glad Tobin won this one, especially how passionate and energetic he sounds when building and testing his blades.
Just pointing out that when it comes to cutting with swords and sabres, blade alignment is crucial to get a proper or clean cut, particularly with a hoisted rope, as the slightest unalignment can cause the blade to throw itself way off. And in the rope cut test, when they tested Tobin's sword (I think that's his name) the edge alignment was off, now I'm not saying that's the reason it didn't cut through, but its was definitely a contributing factor.
Doug is kind of the odd guy out on the judges panel - all of the others are verifiable smiths associated with museums and/or the ABS. The show and some vague interviews he's given suggest that he's a martial artist and air force vet who trained special forces in close quarters combat - given his complete lack of knowledge on how to properly use most weapons outside of a knife and his limited vocabulary suggesting a lack of education (the air force is the one branch of the military that emphasizes continuing education with many air force vets having advanced degrees and extensive training in specialized fields) I have my doubts. There's also no record that I can find of him outside his own interviews and website(s) (social media included). Now while I doubt the History channel would support a felony (falsely claiming to be a veteran is a crime) - they might exaggerate the credentials of someone who's only real purpose on the show is the entertainment value of his ridiculous antics.
Tobin got humbled on the sharpness test 👌
Doug's edge geometry was way off on the rope cut
I think the both did actually. Isn't something how each blade cut what the other couldn't? That was weird.
It’s pretty rough when contestants get docked for Doug swinging a sword improperly, it would be a lot cooler if he just admitted it was his fault ya know.
@@Yohasbing Yeah but come on, a two handed cutlass is not a cutlass it's a machete, a big machete
@@Yohasbing weight is a big contributing factor to stuff. Keeping edge alignment good during a swing is a lot harder with heavier weapons or if the handle isn't good.
The dummy remained cutless:/
Your Cutlass cut less and therefore I have to ask you to pls leave the forge
Nice one
It will not keal, iRONically 😂
The minute i see the two bladesmiths, i choose one and root for him the entire video based on confidence, attitude and skills.
For this one i couldn't choose, liked both lmao
Ikr ^^
No surprise Tobin won.. no matter how tall he is, he is a Dwarf, in the best Middle-Earthen tradition.
8:02 that'd the most chill it will kill ever, i love it
Really shows how effective a few layers of clothing can be against a sword
I’m so happy tobin won he’s my hero
Tobin is so likeable xD such a character
Tobin "If only that rope was made of fish"
Ron "If only that fish was made of rope"
Poor consistency. Doug had edge alignment errors and varied between one and two handed strikes, favouring the winner by usually holding his sword with 2 hands, probably because it was overly heavy in the first place.
he also uses his off-hand on the Strike on the rope with Ron´s cutlass. And he uses both his hands on both weapons in the kill test. it´s just harder to make out because of the giant basket.
Not sharp enough, felt sorry for that nice piece of weapon failed to win.
He should’ve put Fullers in his blade, with Fullers, it lightens the steel and allows it to cut more equally on all surfaces. A heavy blade will not cut through rope.
Always so nice to see Tobin again
Tobin is just so wholesome I can't help but watch this over and over again.
Was rooting for Ron!
You can see the pain in Doug's eyes when he says that the sword will not keal
This both men are very amazing and gifted for the work that they do. Swords and knives can also have beauty as long as it's not used in the wrong way to hurt yourself or others.
Thanks for sharing!
I love how Tobin used a whetstone
The rope failure was entirely doug's fault. He messed up the strike and blamed the blacksmith
Tobin just had fun the whole time
Dave Baker needs to hit the gym, he finds almost every weapon heavy 🤣🤣🤣
He's right though, you don't want the weapon to be over a certain weight. Because you have to be able to control it and be able to swing it all day in combat.
It's not about the thing being heavy as in a dumbell, he means heavy as in wielding heavy, something that when used makes it hard to recover and puts too much strain on your wrists, most likely due of it being unbalanced
Tobin: Cuts fish, doesn't cut rope
Ron: Cuts rope, doesn't cut fish
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Facts
I'm kinda surprised by this one. How can they get the exact opposite results on the cutting test?!?
Nothing like a fair test
I don’t know how it’s possible you make a sword that can’t puncture a dummy 😂
3:45 Impressive! Your fruit keeling skills are remarkable!
The 2 most likable contestants.
They have to fix the human error problem in these tests. If Doug hits at a different angle each time, the test is basically useless and unfair. They gotta figure out a more scientific approach. Two different people would slice and have two different results.
Exactly! I've noticed some of his mistakes, wrist movement goes along way!
They need Todd from "The Project Farm" to design the testing. If you haven't seen the channel check it out. Great stuff for tool and motor nerds.
The human aspect is part of the test. Tobin's blade is heavy and unwieldy, so even a man like Doug, who is a bladed weapons expert, will have a hard time getting correct edge alignment. They aren't JUST testing the sharpness in the sharpness test; they're also testing the wieldability of the weapon.
I've commented on this before. Doug fails periodically on European style blades. It's not weight causing him to twist the blade during or just before the cut.
I think they have a good mix of purely scientific tests in there. For example when they shoot the bullet at the blade.
Please don’t try to get rid of Doug. He makes the show great.
È incredibile come l'abilità dei giudici alle volte possa pregiudicare un concorrente a tal punto da farlo perdere.
Jack Black is an accomplished musician and now forged in fire champion too.
This show has always suffered from Doug's inability to achieve proper edge alignment with a lot of edged weapons.
Are you suggesting his brother has a hit more blade control??
I love how it was the opposite for both for them. For Tobin It went through the fish but the not the rope, but for the other guy is didn't cut the fish but it cut the rope.
3:39 "not austeticly pretty"
Honestly Toby I enjoy the look of yours the most
This is like a cooking competition but for swords
His blade may not of stayed sharp but it was also used one handed where the winning blade seem out of parameter having the judges use it 2 handed. Rope and fish test. Do not agree with outcome. Even the last test. Look at Dougs hands. This is bad
If you watch closely, doug often make subtle mistakes that can vary the outcome of a test
True, dude, cutlass is a one handed weapon
Well, actually Doug is worse with 2 handed weapons. But he isn´t using it like a 2 handed sword, he´s just using his off-hand to support the wielding hand, not the handle. he does the same when he delivers the cut with Ron´s cutlass on the rope.
If you compare the places Ron´s cutlass hit the fish and the rope, you can infer that the blade is probably dull at the place where it curves and sharp on the straight part. Because the edge alignment on the fish seemed good.
And that's also the reason it failed the kill test. if you swing the blade it´s the tip and the curve doing the damage. if these are dull, there is simply no damage. btw, he also used both his hands using Rons weapon in the kill test. it´s just harder to see because of the giant basket.
It’s purely because of weight, you can tell he doesn’t use it to improve the swing beyond what’s necessary to keep it true
challenge is to build a cutlass, MF'r builds a scimitar XD
My second favorite blade, right after the Ninjato.
Tobin made the coolest handle by far.
This was a rollercoaster of emotions lmao
Truth be told, in the sharpness test it looked like Doug's cut had very poor edge alignment. And, in the kill test, slashing through tough cloth is quite difficult. He should have gone for the head, would have been more fun also.
The weapons are heavy, which makes it difficult to align
Bingo! Happens with Doug a lot. He’s mainly a stick fighter not blade.
Tobin should’ve said “arhg wheres thy booty”
Love Tobin's brooooad blade!
Tobin looks and sounds like Jack Black during quarantine
3:00 I want that sword badly.
Tobin's Cutlass was a fancy machete.
Ron made such a nice sword but it wasn't anywhere near as sharp
Ron's cutlass just cut less :P
"The Weight At The Point I Like It."
That Must Be Heavy
I have a cutlass and yeah- it’s a heavy, sharp and deadly weapon!
Honestly, between the fish, the rope, the dummies and the size difference of the swords, if anything this should have been a tie. One is hard to swing but easy to kill with, good at cutting fish, and the other one is easy to swing and hard to kill with but will cut thru rope. Seriously would have loved some close-ups of the edge geometry. Tobins was obviously concave and Ron was convex. Cutting vs chopping. And technically cutlasses were made to do both, so they both halfway nailed it, and halfway failed.
Tobin looks like Stoick from how to train your dragon XD
This is the best final there has been🎉
Tobin looks like a real life fantasy dwarf.
You'd think sharpening your blade would be a top priority, but a few people on this show seem to neglect it which is very bizarre.
Great episode. Both good 👍👏🏼
Num! num! it will keal~
That watermelon was crazy beautiful
Seems like the tests weren’t equal, strikes were different, double handed on the first and not on the second. Overall not a fair test
Performing the tests on Ol' Ironsides was a really nice touch on the theme of the weapon.
That was the most half assed kill test I've ever seen.
Both of these guys are like big teddy bears
One of the most confusing tests....
Don't cut the fish but cut the rope...and then don't kill?
Lets be honest that sharpness test was all the “it will kill guys fault” he hit it very awkwardly
Don’t disrespect Doug like that. He’s a highly skilled weapons combat specialist and never makes mistakes.
@@voges1001 he’s not wrong though, the edge wasn’t aligned properly when he made contact with the rope. It’s nothing against him, everyone makes mistakes but the slightest mistake with edge alignment won’t cut.
@@voges1001
He's human, everyone makes mistakes !
@@allenwilson9656 lol i'm kidding, calm down
@@KillerSniper55 One can also wonder if the design of the weapon made it harder for it to be swung and aligned properly. There is always a human factor, but the design of the weapon certainly has to be considered in the equation. Weight plus over-length hand guard could cause misalignment when swung.
*watches with CZcams's CC on*
Ah yes, the Forest Empire champion.
3:55 I knew he was going to eat the watermelon
Love you both ❤️❤️❤️
Ron made a better cutlass blade Tobin pretty much made a machete
The machete evolved from the cutlass
It will never kill
I could hear the disappointment when he said it will no kell.
My favorite wealpons is the swords
Just Disbelief when the guys sword didn't kill... GEEZ!
The Dwarven swordsmith vs the blacksmith
Lol please don't kill me
Please please please please please
Test heng dang from Assam, India
🙂🙂
Its really history
Repeated in just a few months 😁😁😁
Can cut through a rope but not a fish 🤔
Human error
IKR
@Dogman tossed my salad Your mind is waycist
I want to see the new episode!
Forged and fire team please make competition with south indian weapon aruva....
Great! Now I want watermelon!
The reason the 1st one didnt go through the rope is b/c Doug gave a bad cut. Its not always the weapon that causes the failure.
Tobin's back :)
Conspiracy Ron definitely won it
The first time i heard from him : it will not keal
On the cut test I think it may have been more of the judge not cutting very good or consistent
Good
Hardly I hear "IT WILL NOT KEEEL"
Tobin is the man
Tobin is sooo cute.
jack blacks cutlass looked more like a machete. also I've noticed the "it will kill/cut" guy always seems winded after the first kill test not giving the second contestant a fair run at the ballistics dummy
Oh no Ron!!!!
From cutlass to cut less the step is short
A cutlass is sharp light balanced sword during pirates time.
i didn't know jack black was a blacksmith
Tobins blade was plenty sharp enough to cut through the rope. The rope was hit with the glad of the blade and slid slightly upward causing the partial laceration. Seems like they might need someone else with a bit more virility to start testing those blades....
