I loved watching these two battle it out. Both players so skillful, great movers and great champions.
Both are good for the game.
Te amo Martina Hingis, siempre serás mi favorita.
Gotta love Arantxa Sanchez. She was so tough on the court.
Lástima q el partido no fuese al tercer set!! Es de los partidos en q he visto a Arantxa más agresiva, pero ganar a la Hingis del 99 era muy difícil. Gracias por el video!!
Sanchez is a true sportswoman. She congratulated Hingis very warmly after the match got over
Unusual for her
@@yussepig6629 Strange comment. Sanchez typically gave very gracious handshakes. Check out any she gave Hingis, Graf, Martinez, Pierce etc during this period.
Hingis always had a great win record over Sanchez Vicario. Could you please upload Seles Sanchez Vicario Wimbledon 4th Round 2000 please.
So good!!
It would have been nice to know the score after each point was played?
It's funny nowadays to hear Tracy Austin say something like "Big Serve at 99 miles per hour". That would be a slow first serve in today's Women's game.
I think she meant big serve for that occasion and/or for arantxa.
@Kevin Weng No Tracy and the rest of us are talking about Arantxa's serve.

Vicario so impressive
European players have that regard for each other. you can see how Vicario warmly greets Hingis, but hardly looks at any of the Williams sisters at the net. I feel bad for the Williams sisters how the tennis world treated them then
How friendly were the Williams sisters to the other players? These things go both ways.
When injuries began to trouble Steffi Graf around 1997, you would have expected one of the 90s top tennis players to dominate, since most of them were in their early to mid 20s, but a 16 year old Martina Hingis dominated them. Her record against Sanchez Vicario, Seles and some of the top players from the early to mid 1990s is very impressive. Is it that they were not good enough? If not for Davenport peaking around 1998, and the Williams sisters and Jennifer Capriati peaking in the 2000s, i feel she would have won about 10 slams. I find it strange
Seles and Sanchez were the only other all-time greats of the Graf era and Hingis was a rough matchup for both of them.
Ons Jabeur's game reminds me of Sanchez Vicario
Beautiful lady martinahingis ❤xxxxxx
Nice hair Emilio.
Hingis la pesadilla de Arantxa ( Hingis Arantxa's nightmare) 😫😱
Whatever the ranking was, I still prefer the 98-99 Sanchez than her 1996 match against Hingis. At least she tried to hit out that forehand and was still trying new things.
This I agree with.
Sanchez was done at the US Open 1996 after having lost the finals of Roland Garros, Wimbledon, Olympics, Montréal and San Diego.
@@thebluedanube8463 Yes, her confidence had taken a massive knock by that point. It lasted from the last few months of 1996 until the beginning of 1998 basically.
@@FlabbyTitmuss for sure, but I would say her confidence had waned even in the AO of 1996. Those losses to Kimiko Date, Majoli, Coetzer, Kournikova and Schnyder was simply unforgivable. Even when she won, her game in 1996 is simply too passive to adapt. We all know ASV won the French Open in 1998 because she was extra courageous and confident after the scare against Serena. (Also the forehand really worked)
But Hingis is a bad matchup for her too - her game strength was making the big, attacking players (Graf) with less margin play one more ball. Hingis had as much margin as her and better attacking ability - would just be a nightmare for asv
H2h 19-2. Wow!
I know. Arantxa was so steady but Hingis just was such a horrible matchup for Arantxa. It was nearly impossible for Arantxa to beat her on any surface. Hingis was so consistent and stepped into the court better and seemed to dictate more.

Who’s the guy at 7:55?
Arantxa little brother, double player mostly
Javier Sánchez vicario
Thank God for Venus and Serena these women had no pwr.

It’s cute that Tracy Austin thinks Martina Hingis has power. LOL! 😂
Boring ass comment.
