gonna make a list of what netflix fucked up in the show
    - they tried making the show 'dark' and 'mature' because despite the divorce, the wicked siblings, that bloom is literally the last of her kingdom, genocide, techna offing herself, the show was still too sparkly for people.
    - in the og show, bloom wore blue clothes to make her red hair stand out. its obvious that fate didnt gaf about her hair and piled with other red clothes because 'color-coordination'. and even with their so called 'clor-coordination' they still dont manage to make her look presentable. instead of the simple look they were aiming for, she just looks like her stylist didnt put any effort into her outfits. if she had worn another color or something other than leather&jeans i wouldve LOVED her outfits.
    - literally none of the actors in fate look like the characters in winx?? if youre gonna adapt a show, you can atleast match the ethnicity of them. aisha was the only poc and she didnt even have any plot to her character in fate (she was failing in class once but the show never explained how she got through it or why it happened. she also has no backstory whatsoever and all we know is that she likes swimming, is responsible and just wants to help her friends out. while others characters, eg flora, have a backstory like her family dynamic, how she was body-shamed, her love for plants and her relationships) and musa who was asian was literally white-washed (not to mention, her power was completely changed [ music - brainwaves/emotions ] ).
    - stella turned into a complete brat in fate. in the og show she was sweet, a fashion-icon and never wanted any bad on her friends. in fate, however, she was dressed up in the ugliest clothes (the first scene we got of her was a sparkly coat, checkers, a picnic table, weird long ass gym shorts and red heels. i nearly cried at the sight of her, i feel so bad for stellas actor having to dress up in THAT) and she always had to do something bitchy and was just cruel. she was sweet in winx yet in fate she blinded her friend.
    - aisha and flora were just token friends. aisha was the mom friend who always had to tail around bloom and make sure she didnt fucking kill humanity by accident, and she NEVER got a proper character. flora was a token fat friend. she was body-shamed, got her heart torn apart, was always shoved away from everyone in the suite and honestly im sure everyone felt more sympathy for flora then they did with blooms 'mOOoOOoM yOu ToOOk AwaAY mY DoOoOOooR!!!1!!!111 iM gOnNA bUrN yOU nOW!! oNo I hURt yOUuu WAaAAaHhH NOoW iM gOnNNa RuiIN evERyoNes dAy iN alFEaAA!! oOopPS kIlleD sOMeOne TeeHEe~~'
    - also they made bloom the 'i just wanna find out my past :(' girl yet her actions endangered the entire school, had the headmistress killed, released beatrix who, although was my favorite chracter because she had SOME depth, was also a murderer and literally paired up with the biggest threat to alfea.

Read through it. You summed it all well beautifully. Especially Bloom's character. I actually found it really hard to root for her at any point, because she was just being selfish, impatient, hot tempered and insufferable most of the time. As if finding the answer's to her questions would immediately change something. Never apologized or took accountability for any of her actions, except at the very end scene in the headmaster's office. Aisha was her designated baby sitter throughout the show, so annoying to not give her a character story apart from trailing bloom everywhere.

You know, it may have something to do with union laws for actors under vs over 18 (?) If they have night shoots for example, those under the age may not be allowed to shoot those, or are only allowed to do so with very very strict rules (number of hours they're allowed to shoot over the span of 24 hours). Take for example Smallville. Tom Welling started when he was 23/24, and was supposed to be a freshman in high school. At a convention a year or so ago, it was brought up that there was a day back in the early seasons where he ended up working for 20 hours. Now, for ANYONE regardless of age, working for 20 hours is insane. But when children are involved (or those under a certain age), it's even more problematic. So I'm wondering if it has to do more so with union rules and regulations. It's probably a similar explanation for scenes involving drugs and sex. I also wonder about what hoops legal has to go through for the Stranger Things kids. Incidentally, why not do a review for Stranger Things, @Alex Meyers ?

First off! Bloom finds the school via Stella, Bloom has the ability to control the dragon fire, THE most powerful magics in the world of Winx, her friends:
    Stella- Power of Light/Sunlight
    Tecna- Power of Technologies
    Musa- Power of Music
    Aisha- Power of Water
    Flora- Power of Plant life
And the schools are separated by sexes! But they all keep balance of the magical world. Witches and Warlocks are in a different school, the faeries have their own in Althea, and the boys study to be knights and leaders and essentially become guardians to the faeries! I mean the show showed growth through each season with each character including the girl's and their boyfriends. Aisha was the ONLY one who refused to have a relationship and I adored her for it.

I don’t know if anyone has said this, but my main problem with this show is Bloom. I can’t stand her. She is presented as a supposedly feminist character addressing mansplaining or whatever, but she also puts down other women referring to them as basic bitches and other pejorative terms. That’s not feminism. Also, the ways she treats Aisha and the others. She acts like the center of the world and only thinks of herself. She literally puts her desire for truth above EVERYONE’s lives and doesn’t even acknowledge that. Also, the way they treat Aisha as if she did something wrong, she was the only one with common sense, and the only one that knew Bloom was acting selfish and confronted her. And Bloom ends up being the hero, she didn’t deserve it.

This, exactly this. She is awfully selfish and her main-character-itis is showing. In the original show, if this had happened, she would have seen Aisha as trying to help her, not trying to antagonize her, because they are friends. And sure that isn't as "dramatic" but heck it's a lot less cringey and makes Bloom a likeable and realistic character. But no. Make her do something selfish and then get praised for it

The problem with this show isn't the concept. The story is great, and it holds on its own two feet. The acting is also good enough that I just don't have any need to complain.
The biggest problem with this show is the script. The thing is horrendous. You can't even take things seriously with the way things are phrased. Conversations don't even feel natural, and exposition is off the charts, and trying to fit it in the story makes it worse. If there was a good script, I could praise this show. But it holds it back so much that I'm kinda scared from watching the third season. I want to watch a third season story wise, but with scripts being so bad in the first two seasons, Netflix has really turned me off.

The problem with this series is, they used the name “Winx” and some characters from the OG show just to bait people into watching a mediocre series that actually has NOTHING to do with the cartoon. Nothing. Not the plot, not the setting, not even the characters. They’re nothing like the cartoon, they just used their names. Take those away and all you’re left with is just another teen drama with some magical elements put in there. And i think the reason so many people hated it is because it’s really hard to be objective about a series when it’s supposed to be a remake (that no one asked for might I add) of a cartoon beloved by millions, especially if it ends up being, like I said, mediocre.

I was the oldest in the cinema for the first Winx Club movie, but quickly after that I did lose my interest as I became too old, and the show's creator had been intending for 3 seasons only and the writing shows it because after S3 it really got downhill.

That’s not the Bloom I remembered and loved. Also Flora and Musa not being represented the way they should. Are you kidding me?! It’s rare to see someone look like me on a show to feel pride in my heritage so the fact that they cast white actors to play poc characters is disgusting and really shows there racism and performative activism!! 🤢 😡😒🤬 😑 So yea good job Netflix, now the new generation ain’t gonna have the same memories we had growing up. • @lost_boy_from_neverland3925

4:14 I can kind of see what they tried to do there dude, see, I'm an introvert and when I watched those scenes about Bloom's problems with her family I deeply felt all of her emotions. I felt lucky that I was born into a mostly-introvert and understanding family.
So, first of all, that bedroom door they removed... That's literally one of the worst things you can do to your kid, especially teenagers, introvert or not.
That door is your privacy and their respect to your well-being and development as a person.
EVERYONE needs alone time and privacy. Some people might need more. Respect.
I believe that they made Bloom an introvert character in the series and since her mom was more of a "party all night" type in her teenage years as far as we can see, she has trouble understanding her daughter and makes her socialize the way she SEES "socilazing"
This doesn't sound like "Nothing a mom would say to her daughter" now, does it?
Maybe you just didn't struggle with anything like this, that's lucky I guess.
