  • It’s very easy to take care of the Dwarf umbrella tree plant. This house plant is very indestructible and makes for an ideal beginner house plant. The dwarf umbrella tree will adapt to almost all types of lighting but it prefers to have high indirect lighting. If you can get the plant near a window that receives 5 to 7 hours of medium to high indirect lighting that would be perfect.
This is somewhat of a hard house plan to keep because it’s extremely emotional when you move it to a different location and it will literally lose all of its leaves. And it also likes lots of water because it’s known as an actual tree, which makes it difficult to keep up with that. And because this grows fairly large, you’re also going to have to repot this maybe every other year if not every single year.
In my experience I have found that a lot of Plante Keepers don’t really enjoy this plant because if it’s weird care parameters. We on this planet for a couple years but then decided to sell it off just because it wasn’t really what we were looking for. Not to mention we got sick of picking up all of the leaves because of how emotional the planet was when it would throw off dead leaves.

It’s good to know that the plant can drop leaves when you bring it home. I was freaking out but now I know it just needs to adjust

This is great information, thank you. I moved mine to the back door and the leaves went yellow, he did not like it one bit. He’s back next to the TV and has flourished. I do water once a week, and he’s not in sunlight as he seems to prefer that. He’s about 12 years old now, a lot taller and not as many leaves at the bottom, so definitely more like a mini tree now :)
