  • One of my favorite 'beginner' houseplants by far is the Umbrella plant (umbrella tree), or the Schefflera. This lovely, low maintenance plant provides a wonderful structural appeal in the home with its incredible branching and umbrella shaped foliage.
    In this video I provide all the information you need to grow them well. I also include information on how to prune and propagate them with success! #schefflera #umbrellaplant #houseplants

    Thanks so much Devin !!! I was going to ask you about Schefflera. Mine is so leggy and was hesitant to chop the tops off as there is new growth at the top, but ... I'll sacrifice.
    On another topic ... I brought my Desert Rose in from outside, according to your directions (we live in the same zone) and ... yes, all the leaves DID fall off. Then ... new ones started growing. It's amazing. I have not watered it, nor EVER given it any fertilizer. No wonder we love plants !!!

Assuming the newly cut piece lives and gives me beautiful roots and I put it in a small pot as per your suggestion... when can I move it to the pot I cut it from? Hi! I just lost a variegated dwarf umbrella plant I'd had for over 6 years due to pests I could not get rid of. I did find it was susceptible to pests. I pruned it probably once a year. The only propagation method that worked was from leaf stem cuttings rooted in water but it took forever to root. Liked it but not sure I'd replace it.

    My friend had this plant and I looked at it last week,she was doing great. Now today a bunch of the leaves 🍃 fell off when I touched her. Why would that happen ? I would like to transplant her into a bigger pot. Would that be okay or too stressful for her right now ? My friend keeps her apartment chilly too. The plant 🌱 is probably in stress because she’s in a different environment ? Which is a little bit warmer. So should I wait a couple of days to transplant?😊

    • @plantvibrations

    i have an odd question. My ball python enclosure has a dwarf shefflera.. there is plenty of floor space 36x18, but only about 3 in of soil depth.. Can i prune it to stay under 18in? and also i dont mind roots filling everywhere because i need good drainage and it would be part of cleanup crew but will the roots ever need more depth or is the space itself fine if it drains well?
    Its doing great right now in the bio dudes terra firma, but im worried it will end up dying 1 (because of the snake) and has plenty of natual fertilizer. I have temperate white springs in there, dwarf white isopods, and armadillium peraccae isopods that eat feces and the plants goal are 1 to look nice and 2 to consume urates/nitrates, I also have 2 golden pothos in there

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  Před 26 dny

      It’ll probably be a good idea to take it out once every 12-18 months and root pruning it. That’ll keep the roots healthy and by root pruning and top pruning the plant will stay naturally smaller
