  • Discover why this 1993 Jaguar XJ220 is the MOST undervalued supercar ever. Gary takes the Jag for a road test while peter presents the history. If it's sound you're after, watch us drive this 1970 Z28 Camaro Trans Am: • Vintage Racing Glory: ...
    Peter Klutt and his son Gary share the stage on this one describing in length the infamous legacy of the Jaguar XJ220. Peter explains the story of how this striking Jaguar came to be in the 90's, and the frothy market conditions that allowed for it to continue to be so undervalued. Gary then takes this monster for a drive as we get a drone out to give an epic sense of scale from all angles.
    In its time the Jaguar XJ220 was the world’s fastest production automobile. Its top speed of 220MPH was very nearly achieved in a time trial on the high-bank test track in Nardo, Italy. The project humbly began as a skunkworks project of Coventry’s design staff, who were soon dubbed the Saturday Club for their efforts after regular business hours. The initial prototype was presented to the public at the 1988 Birmingham International Motor Show and received unanimous praise, and customer interest skyrocketed. Initially the British manufacturer announced a pre-tax price of £290,000 and a production run of 350 vehicles. Approximately 1,400 reservations were recorded, each complemented by a £50,000 deposit.
    The example here was assembled in late June 1993, finished in Spa Silver over a Charcoal interior. After leaving the factory, the car was sold through Jaguar Deutschland GmbH on 24 January 1994 to a German engineer and business owner. After purchase, the XJ220 was reportedly placed into storage and used sparingly accumulating a mere 703 miles on the odometer. In 2002, the XJ220 made its first trip to the famed Don Law Jaguar workshop in Staffordshire, England. Whilst in their company, the car received a “delivery miles” service, which included replacing camshaft and alternator belts, air and fuel filters, and oil, brake, and coolant fluid. The vehicle would return to their shop in 2016 leaving in 2019 for an extensive service detailed in invoices totalling roughly £30,000. This XJ220 has been shown at a number of events in recent years. Most recently in 2021, the vehicle scored a 9.998 score at the Jaguar Club of Florida Concours d’Elegance and had previously taken a Best-in-Class award nationally. The car achieved a Best in Class win at the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance, also in 2021.
    This XJ220 is accompanied by the original books, toolkit, first-aid kit, warning triangle, CD changer holders and Wheel nut adapter. The vehicle is further documented by a Jaguar XJ220 video, import documentation, various articles and photos, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust production record trace certificate, and service receipts. The Supercar market has exploded in the last few years with a new era of collectors entering the market looking to acquire their poster cars. As competitor supercars like the Ferrari F40, Porsche 959, Bugatti EB110 have more than doubled in recent year, the XJ220 is still highly undervalued in comparison.

    I had one for 7 years. Still remarkably undervalued and misunderstood. If it had a Prancing Horse on the front it would be a $5 million car.

      To me personally seeing how rare this cars is makes it more valuable than those million dollar ferraries. And since I saw this car when I was a kid I allways liked it. Today I would love to own one more than any bmw, porsche, ferrari and so on. Beautiful car.

    if i win the lottery, i will buy one
    now they are still cheap.
    one of the best looking cars ever made (the street version)
    would be interesting to give it a professional tune up with modern brakes, tires, suspension, titanium freeflow exhaust, intake and a ECU upgrade.
    Of course i would keep the original parts so it could be build back to original.

    On Top Gear, they had an aluminum bodied XJ220 vs. a carbon fiber bodied Zonda, and the XJ won!😏

    • @Satori-Automotive
      @Satori-Automotive Před 2 měsíci

      true but i think the driver screwed up and they didnt want to repeat, to not wear out the clutches so much.
      they used a Zonda S 7.3 which had a couple more HP then the Jag and weighted over 200kg less.
      it had to win the drag race just from a performance standpoint. But its also said those Zondas are hard to drive...
      so i think the longer gears + more weight made the Jag easier to control and gave more traction, while the Zonda struggled to bring the power down.
      The Zonda also has more drag then the Jag, which didnt help either.

    What’s holding prices back is with so few made, no shops exist to fix them, the diagnostic laptop required isn’t around anymore, and there are no spare parts.

      Obviously you don't seem to know anything about Don Law Restorations and Service located in the UK. This shop has been in businesss for many years and are capable of doing whatever is required for the XJ220 maintenance and upkeep including new or reconditioned parts etc. They're spare parts inventory is nothing short of amazing. There is absolutely nothing Don or his father don't know about these cars - period.

    The main issue is the V6. It doesn’t belong. Especially in a Jaguar.
    It could have 1000hp and the stigma would still remain.

    • @fteoOpty64
      @fteoOpty64 Před 20 hodinami

      Agree, it should have a v12 with quad turbos like the EB110 or Zonda S. That way, the XJ would be pulling 900+ hp.
