Thanks for the high quality ToME4 content! There aren't many new guides on CZcams anymore and I really appreciate this! Just wanted to let you know!
It's fun to look back and see how your build guides have evolved a bit over the past year. I hope you keep making guides!
Love the content. There is such a dearth of recent tome content. Would watch a let's play of you playing for sure.
Extra notes:
The item descriptions are different, because of the Better Item Description mod. Stun- means stun immunity, Confus- confusion immunity and so on.
Weapons show a %, because of Advanced Weapon Statistics option in Settings.
You need to be using Power Overwhelming, to make Black Monolith raise your entropic backlash, which then puts Nihil on enemies.
If you manage to put 4/5 points into Nihil, you will apply it to 3 enemies instead of 1, avoiding the frequent problem of putting Nihil on a trash mob, that dies before you can apply 6 magical debuffs.
If you want Terminus/All is Dust and to also put some "Quality of Life" points into your other talents, consider just skipping Timethief entirely. The talents are useful, but used very rarely and you can make it work without them.
I just noticed I only had 57% confusion immunity and 38% silence immunity (this is why you have the Wild Mental Infusion, it can cleanse silence), which again was just me being stupid, try your best to at least 100% confusion, it helps a lot.
Finally got my first insane win after 70 failed attempts. Couple of suggestions that someone might find useful:
My advice is to go for Adept + Corrupted Shell, which was what turned it around for me in the end. Adept allows you to get your synergies going sooner and saves up quite a few generic points, which you can put into light armor training for the hardiness). Corrupted shell will give armor, hardiness and most importantly health, which is extremely important for CoE as your defense requires you to stand in the middle of mobs casting at them to apply debuffs which require LoS (also entropy yoyo obviously). Armor of Shadows hardiness boost requires you to be already in combat and is very poor protection against rogues when you are just exploring.
Another point is to go for Rift as the second category point unlock after the herald. The shield and teleport are useful early game and late game but where it really shines and what wasnt mentioned in the video is that the rift shooting projectiles can proc any on spell hit items you have. I got lucky with a netherblast staff so was often one shooting things just from placing a monolith. But lifedrinker + astral bindings would also trigger every other turn, so watch out for those items.
I really didnt understand why some praise entropic gift damage. As you buff spell power the talent that reduces the backlash will be near the 80% reduction cap anyway even with 1/5. I would keep that whole tree as 1/1/1/5. Timethief I didnt bother with either.
I went yeek as well as that seemed like it would synergize well on paper. I am still not sure if its the correct choice as the lack of early health is punishing. But you do get a couple of insta cast summons. The domination acts like one against any non rare and against rare can give a 3 turn respite - can be very useful in the early game. The mindslayers are very good once you get them since they will just obliterate most uniques but will become more of a body blocker late game. The other part of yeek is the speed boost which will synergize with atrophy - you want to apply your debuffs as quickly as possible as that is your defense. The confusion/silence immunity can help out with the gearing. Also, yeek gets an experience bonus, so you will hit the first prodigy + synergy stuff quicker.
I took rune of dissipation with the last category point but it didnt seem that impactful even on last boss. Maybe corruption/hexes or harmony is worth picking up instead, as there were times that I had nothing to cast (even with 20% cooldown reduction). Adept should allow you to make some use out of any additional generic tree (chants would actually be interesting for the debuff removal perhaps).
Thanks for the guide man! It's really hard to find up-to-date information on classes and how to play them. Doing God's work
That is a big part of why I want to make these videos, glad you found it useful :)
@@Drybe Since it's been a while since there's been an update, and supposedly the next one will be big, aren't you afraid that your guides might get outdated soon after you make them?
@@ariholahan9631 From what I know, the new DLC will be similar to the old ones, just adding new classes/races/zones. Unless some of the base systems change, it should hopefully stay relevant, but we'll see.
Thank you for the excellent videos. I stopped playing as I need help with builds and this has got me excited to return to Maj'Eyal.
I recently got back into this game so it's great to see some new content especially with this quality.
10/10 guide, thanks man!
Using this guide I got my first ever win on insane, albeit it was on adventurer, not RL. everything past the t2s felt so easy.
What is your opinion on the Ethereal form prodigy? It gives both offense and defense in the absolute damage resistance and damage penetration, and with it you can get a lot of defense on light armor characters which from what I remember can get high enough to reliably dodge melee attacks even on Insane in the end game (130+ defense).
When I still played I remember this talent being pretty much meta for all light armor characters to take on level 25, and then just stack defense as high as possible on all stats together with resistance, but maybe this isn't good anymore if accuracy on end game rares and randbosses is too high to defense tank.
On my nightmare win with Cultist of Entropy I had both Ethereal form and Corrupted shell with maxed constitution for almost 2k life, which on Insane should be even higher combined with very high defense (On nightmare I didn't get strong enough gear so my defense was quite pitiful, with less than 100), which felt like a very strong combination for effective HP and damage.
Ethereal Form is definitely a great (likely better) option, I think it's one of the best prodigies in the game, I just take it a lot and didn't have much chance to play with Armour of Shadows, so this felt like a great opportunity.
You can definitely still reach enough defense to dodge everything, I had 102 defense on my Arcane Blade, which was enough, basically nothing could hit me even in High Peak.
@@Drybe That's amazing!
I do think Armor of shadow is definitely better than I gave it credit for, as armor really goes a long way in protecting against weapon damage, and weapon damage is probably the most dangerous thing in High Peak, and well, you won very convincingly with it so clearly it works well on Insane or lower difficulties as defensive option.
