Wait, the wording of Bleak Guard led me to think it's a Thick Skin for your shield. Is that not how it works? If it was a boost in the shield amount, shouldn't it say, "your shield absorbs 10% more damage" or, "your shield is 10% stronger"?
I'm hoping you made a mistake, otherwise Bleak Guard is a lot weaker than I thought.
You're absolutely correct, I don't know why I convinced myself it just increases the base value.
It was a matter of time until I said something stupid, glad you caught that. Turns out Bleak Guard is pretty good!

@@failpail4733 Not quite, although it honestly does end up being pretty similar. If it worked like I said -> 675 shield +10% would be 742.
If it takes 742 damage it breaks.
If the 675 shield takes 742 damage, which first gets reduced by 10%, you're left with 7 shield. Not too impressive, but the shield regen from Desolate Waste also works better, since the shield takes less damage. (not by much though, since it regenerates a % of the max shield value)
At max rank it's 25% less damage taken. If it worked like I said -> 844 shield.
675 - 844*(1-0.25) = 42 shield left
"pretty good" was maybe an overreaction.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate that you make these videos! I have over 1500 hours in the game spread out over 7 years and my strategies have been getting kind of stale. The game has a serious lack of content creators so I tend to read 5-10 year old guides. Your stuff is so comprehensive I can't wait to see what else you put out!

Agreed. I am always drawn to necros in basically every game I play where they are available and when I found tome, the super cool unlock method made the anticipation of playing them even cooler. I don't read the lore often, but I did read the necro lore unlock.
Shattered Remains does crazy damage and can even carry you a good ways through madness difficulty -- strictly using skeletons for offense.
37:01 - funny thing. A day ago, I was killed as level 1 character by a single shot (in embers of rage campaign) that dealt more damage than my full hp bar).
Embers of Rage is wild in general.
Cauterize best prodigy ever. Its basically an invincibility for 1 turn with a cooldown. Its protect you by you shall be my weapon or a flurry
what about saving hiemal shield for in combat after dropping below -1 hp? it's an instant cast spell, do you think something will one shot you without it? the 25turn cooldown only comes up when it breaks/unsustains. and it'll gives some room for eternal night to work, or a regen infusion if they're still available to you
Hiemal Shield should not be instant speed.
But even if it was, I wouldn't save it for below 1 HP, getting one shot is definitely a consideration and honestly it would just be annoying to micromanage.
Generally I thought of the whole below 1 HP Necro stuff as a nice bonus, rather than something to play around. Felt too dangerous on Insane.
@@Drybe yeah, after playing necro some more i realized i didnt read the stats right on the spell page and i tend to only keep one point in it while letting the ghouls handle the tanking. the shield is instant, the cast time isn't, if i understand it right
Unfortunately with Yeek I have noticed many times (all times?) I don't get experience with Dominant Will if the enemy dies on its own from it. This offsets that exp bonus or the utility of the spell for clearing greatly!
I mostly like using Dominant Will to disable the scariest rare/unique enemy, while I run away.
I think you can still lose XP, if the mind controlled enemy kills something, but it's a tiny price to pay for 3 turns of safety.
To my understanding Bill gets much more difficult after level 10, when did you do your first attempt? Also, I discovered drem can cast river of souls twice if they have frenzy active when river of souls deactivates, manually or automatically
Good point, I can't remember, but it's very possible I was over level 10, Yeek level like crazy.
I didn't know about the Frenzy interaction with sustains, that's interesting, Drem continues to be the coolest race.

Are you planning to make one for every class ? Can i request a doomed ?
You could go Skeleton, the shield will help surviving early, but the rest of it's talents don't do much for Necromancer and you get the Skeleton's immunities to Poison, Bleed and Fear once you become a Lich.
I'd like to make a video like this for every class, but there are a lot of them, we'll see, I plan on just making these as long as I'm having fun with it.
Doomed is cool, I'll try to get a good run with it after Demonologist.

im so annoyed at the unlock for this. i already got the 4 lore plus the poem and then killed celia and still not unlcoked this class!!! gah
When you're killing yourself to transform into a lich, can't you just drown yourself in the big river around Derth? Seems way safer than going out and doing it in a dungeon.
Oh yeah, that seems like a way better idea.
